marcia's journal (comments welcome!)

Marcia~
I hope that you have a great weekend! The weather here is pre-springish and the sun is shining. I hope that the weather is good for you this weekend too and that you can enjoy the fresh, warmer air during your run. Keep up the good work! You are doing such a great job with the running and your points!:teeth:

Hi Marcia,
Just wanted to stop by and tell you what an inspiration you are with all of your running :D . I noticed you eat a lot of the veggie patties and tofu. I've never tried any of that but I would like to. How do you like them? Any specific products you would reccomend?

Marcia,

I'm glad you made out okay yesterday with your Grandma. It really looks like you have a good plan for the weekend. I hope your weigh in was great. You've definitely been working hard this week.

Have a great time with your friend today.

ok, so here i am so report in with my weigh in results:

i gained a stupid pound! the scale told me 133.5 this morning, and i just about kicked it :( [edit: jsut went to edit my siggie to put in my new weight, and realized i actually only gained .5 pounds, why i thought i was at 132.5 last week, i don't know. anyway, not as bad, but still]

i know that last sunday i went totally off plan, but the rest of the week, i really worked my butt off. now i can't decide whether i'm eating too much or too little. maybe my body really is just comfortable at this weight. this is around the weight i've gotten stuck at in the past. but i'm gonna stick with my plan this week to follow the wendie points plus all of my aps. maybe i'm doing so much exercise that my body wants to hold on to the weight in fear of losing too quickly. so maybe i need to eat all the aps? my first week on wendie, i know i followed the wendie guidelines on eating aps though, and i did lose .5 pounds. although, i think i had some cheating that week too, i don't remember. so i'm gonna go with wendie + aps this week and see what happens. my paid up months for ww online end around april 10 i think. i'm thinking that i'll stick to it for at least that long, just to give it a chance, really sticking to my points. but if i don't lose weight, i think i'm going to focus on toning, not worry so much about points, just eat sensibly, and let my body do its thing. i will be starting to up my weekly running mileage soon, so that will be a factor too.

judy, tracy, steph - hey guys, thank you for your support :)

sharon - yes, today will be a good day. 39 points, i've already eaten 14, but we're going out to dinner, and i'm gonna have lots of yumminess there :). and yeah, i know it's good to be figuring out the why behind everything. i hope it will help. ooh, and the banana bread did turn out okay! i think it's a little dry, so i may have left it in a bit too long. oh well, i'll know for next time to be more careful and use the timer on my watch :p . oh yeah, and i ran it through the recipe builder, and it told me that for 12 servings, it's 2 points each, i think you said they were 1  . just wanted to let you know that. i had a slice right after my run this morning, heated it in the toaster, it was good warm :)

denise - yup, you totally are doing the same thing as me! maybe we were separated at birth. haha. either way, i hope that we can both figure it out and then do something to combat it! ::yes::

val - yeah, i've found the veggie patties to be a life saver when i need protein and we have no chicken. my favorite of the soy products is the morningstar breakfast pattie. tastes just like sausage! i also like the boca roasted garlic burger. and i've used morningstar veggie crumbles too. like fake ground beef. i liked it better when prepared as tacos than i did just putting it in spaghetti sauce. hope that helps!

so i know i said i was going to run outside today. but when i found out i'd have to be running early because i was going to go to practice with odie (best friend), i knew it would still be kinda chilly out at 7am, so i just wanted to go to the gym. i didn't want to bundle up *again*, i just wanted to have a warm run. but as long as i get out and get myself a running water bottle, i'm going to do my 6 miler outside tomorrow, just a little later in the day when it's not still cold from overnight ::yes:: . ran my 3.25 miles, walked 1. pretty good time of 31 minutes for the running (approx 9:30 per mile). i feel like i should be able to do my shorter runs faster, but it's okay, i'll get there.

had lots to eat so far today, 10 points worth of "breakfast" (including pre and post run stuff), 4 point lunch, and i'm going to have a 4 point cadbury egg because i can :p . i love those things. that will put me at 18 going into dinner, leaving me 21 for dinner. wow, that's how much i eat in an entire day sometimes!! amazing.

hope we go somewhere good, my brother is picking the restaurant since he's very very picky, normally doesn't come with us to saturday night dinners, but my mom told him he had to this week since my grandmother is here. (this is the good brother, stephen, 17, still lives at home. hehe, whenever i refer to my brother, you can assume this is the one i mean :p ). i know he loves outback, so maybe he'll pick that. that could be good. oh well, not sure, figure it out whenever he makes up his mind.

alright, i've got some journals to go catch up on, then some stuff to do around the house. i'll be sure to report back on my huge dinner later though :p

just wanted to again say thank you to all of you who are here for me supporting me. you guys are the best, and you have no idea how much you mean to me :grouphug:

Hi Marcia! Hey, don't worry about the .5 lb, really. Been there, done that. Now you know the scale will move eventually, just hang in there ok?

I wanted to thank you (and the rest of my DIS buddies) for being so supportive. You're always saying something nice on my journal and I wanted you to know how much I appreciate it. Have a good weekend!:D

hey lisa, yeah, i know, i'm pretty much over it already. moving forward :). and thank you for supporting me too :)

so i never checked in at the end of yesterday. dinner was excellent. we ended up going to our normal italian place. i decided to go for a lower points meal so i could enjoy dessert! they have this awesome warm chocolate lava cake topped with vanilla ice cream, oh man. so glad. it was so good. i just estimated the points of that as about 13 (10 for the cake, 3 for the ice cream, cause it was less than half a cup) based on other similar desserts i've seen points for. anyway, here's the details:

s: pria bar = 2
s: hot cocoa w/skim + 1 slice banana bread = 4
b: lc bagel + morningstar pattie + 2% american slice = 4
s: cup carrots = 0
l: 2 slices light whole wheat + 1 tbsp pb + 1 tbsp sf preserves + 1 apple = 4
s: cadbury cream egg = 4
d: small salad + 1 slice bread + 3 shrimp + 1.25 cups whole wheat pasta + 1 cup steamed broccoli + lava cake w/ice cream + after dinner mints = 20

total: 38

yeah baby. high days are fun :). goal was anywhere from 35-39, so i was right on track. that was my 24th cheat free day in february. last day of the month today! i *will* make it to 25 for the month ::yes::

today, wendie says low points of 20. add on my 7 aps i'm about to get for running 6 miles and walking 1, and we've got a 27 point day. haven't eaten anything yet, about to go have some pb/banana oatmeal for a pre run power meal :teeth: . i've got an idea for the rest of the day, including my leftover shrimp/ww pasta from last night. mmm. okay, time to go get that oatmeal made and get to running. i'll check in later :wave2:

Hi, Marcia!:wave2: It's nice to stop by and to catch up on all that's been going on with you. You are such a Jock Athlete, woman. You're amazing! All the running that you do just makes me sit here with my mouth gaping open in awe. :hyper:

So, that dumb scale didn't cooperate--let me at it! I'll show the darn thing who's boss! If I had to guess at why you didn't lose, I'd say it's a combination of muscle building and not enough points. I really think you have to eat your aps. Seriously, Marcia. You're so teeny tiny anyway, your body is probably trying to hold onto every ounce! Eat those aps this week and see if it makes a difference.

Marcia, you've done a fantastic job this month--look at all those cheat free days!

Do something special for yourself to celebrate!

Hello, Marcia! How are you doing? I hope you enjoyed your run this morning--it's been 60 here this weekend! It's unfortunate that it's not here to say, yet. Way to enjoy your high point day! Everything looks great! I hope your weekend w/ Grandma has been better than you expected. Did you run you 6 miles outside today? DH and I took a study break for another long walk--we decided we're going to run during the week and walk on the weekends (at least through the end of the school year). I think your .5 gain is all muscle--remember the measuring tape does not lie! How are the clothes fitting? Oh, and how are your feet doing? I hope you are having a great weekend--I'll try to check in again later. Enjoy the rest of your day! :sunny:

Sorry to hear about the gain but good for you for not giving up. I also think that you might not be getting enough without eating your aps. You definitely do a lot more exercising than most of us. Your dessert sounded really yummy! Hope you have a great week staying on plan.

erin - thanks, i'm really ready to give it a try this week eating every point and sticking to that! i know my body needs the extra nutrition, especially with all the running i do. hehe, and i'm celebrating my month for sure! even though the scale isn't my friend, my tape measure is. it really has been a good month, you are right, and i'm going to continue it into next month too!

denise - hey! i didn't get to run outside today, mostly because i chickened out. i've never run more than 4 or so miles outside, and i feel like i'm hitting the wall. that's pretty sad. but anyway, i told myself i'd do it if i had a way to bring water with me, and i dnd't get a chance to go shopping yesterday, so i just did it on teh treadmill where i knew i could have my water. but i did get to target today and bought a belt water bottle holder. i *will* test it out next weekend, as long as the weather stays nice :). and my toes are doing pretty well actually. i guess i just have to keep on top of them and make sure the skin doesn't get too thick. i've been doing that, and they've stayed better. thanks for your concern :). and you're so right about the tape measure. i think i need to put hte scale away and just focus on inches and my clothes. my jeans feel like they're getting looser (i'm wearing the size 10 stretch right now), so this is good ::yes::

steph - hiya! thanks for your support. it's really hard for me to add in the extra food, i feel like it's counter productive, but i know i have to! i'm gonna eat those aps these week, i promise! and my dessert really was good :teeth:

so yeah. ran at the gym. 6.25 miles, then walked just over a mile. took the running slow, just like last week. averaged 10 minute miles. i know when i up the mileage, i'm gonna have to go even slower. i think i'm going to have trouble with pace when i'm outside more also. because no mile markers! maybe i'll have to ask for one of those cool runners watches for easter. wonder if my parents would go for it :p

ugh, my brother just got home and he wants the computer. i told him i'd be done in a second. i need to learn to do these things from my laptop, not the family computer, but the family computer is just placed better. hehe.

so food is going well so far. we're doing girls night even though sex and the city is over. oscars will take its place tonight. so we've got friendly's ice cream coming up tonight. i think i've got about 8 points left for dinner (already took out points for ice cream). think i'm gonna have a 5 point frozen meal with extra veggies and a 3 point pbj. may not have time to post my details later. if not, i'll do it in the am. alright, i'm outta here

Marcia,

Just stopping in to say hi. Hope you have fun tonight!!

Holly

Hi Marcia. The scale is not my friend either. You just need to join the "Toss the Scale" group. I promise your jeans will tell you things that your scale will not. :teeth: Have a great week.

Hi Marcia,

I'm sorry I didn't get back to you on the waterbottle thing. My DBIL is out of town for 2,5 weeks on business, and he has it with him. DS keeps forgetting to adk him about it. If your belt doesn't work, I'll tackle him myself.

You are dfinately right about the scale. Measurements are much more important. It can still be devastating to see a higher number. I'm impressed by your resiliancy. And the 6.25 miles. Did you have fun with Girls Night out? I live vicariously.

Have a good Monday.
Beth

Hi Marcia!:wave2:
Looks like you had a good weekend. Good for you! That silly old scale! Put it out on the front porch for me, okay?! I'll be by to take care of it for you. Seriously, as long as the jeans are getting loser and the tape measure is telling you good things, then what you are doing is working. We really need to understand that the scale is not the only measure of our success. The cheat free bear looks mighty fine young lady! You should be very proud of that accomplishment! :Pinkbounc
I also really think eating all your APS will help you. I know your mind says not to do it, but I'm really thinking you are slowing your metabolism down with all this exercise and lower fat foods...

I hope your Monday is filled with :sunny: ! It's March! Spring will officially be here in 20 days!!!!!!

Hi Marcia,
You are doing fabulous darling! I love doing girls night out! I need to organize one with my girlfriend's soon.

Hope you have a great Monday!

~Amanda

Marcia! I hope you had a great time last night. I couldn't stay up for all the Oscars since I get up at 5:30, but I watched the first couple hours (I didn't want to be tired on a Monday, so I went to bed). I was so excited about every winner--they all went my way! I hope your water bottle thingy  works well. I don't think you should be discouraged if you can't do a full 6 miles outside. Even if it's not windy, there is resistance and it's harder than running on a treadmill. I start outside runs w/ the track team in 2 weeks! I'm looking forward to that. I'm glad your jeans are fitting better! :bounce: I hope you have a wonderful day! :sunny:

phew, i *think* i made it to everyone's journals this morning. if i missed you, please forgive me :)

holly, judy, beth, sharon, amanda, denise, tracy, hi guys!

sharon - the scale is out and waiting. it's all yours :p

i did have a very nice girls night last night. we were pooped by 9:30pm though, so no, i didn't stay up to watch the entire oscars. hehe, oh well. my sleep is much more important.

yesterday's details:

b: pb/banana oatmeal = 4
s: hot cocoa w/skim + banana bread w/.5 tbsp pb = 5
l: leftovers - 3 shrimp + 1.25 cups ww pasta + 1 cup broccoli = 4
s: 1 cup carrots = 0
d: 2 slices light wheat + 1 tbsp pb + 1 tbsp sf preserves + lean cuisine chicken w/pasta + 1/2 cup asparagus = 8
s: kid's size cup soft serve vanilla + sprinkles (friendlys) = 6
s: sf jello = 0

total: 27

and 27 was the goal (low points of 20 on wendie, plus 7 aps).

so today is another story. i went to bed last night starting to get stuffy. funny, saturday i told odie that i was amazed how i'd made it through the entire winter without getting sick. should've known better than to say that. i took nyquil last night, and dayquil this morning, but my head is totally stuffed up! i don't really feel hungry. i skipped my morning snack. i'm gonna have some leftover fish, rice, and broccoli for lunch, with some chicken soup. it's all low points though. 24 point day on wendie. today is also an off day from running. i was gonna go to the gym and do some crosstraining, but i think i'll be taking a nap after work instead. hope this thing doesn't get worse, because i *will* be running tomorrow. i know, i know, take it easy on my body. i will. i promise. i won't push myself. i'll go slow, and maybe less miles.

alright, it's just about lunch time. gonna get my stuff together and head home to eat.

edit: oh yeah, and i made it through february with 25/29 cheat free days! woo hoo! i also am going to set goals for march, as inspired by amanda :). i hope to remember to come back to my journal to do that when i get back from lunch. although, there is some work that needs to be done. but at some point today, i will write out my goals! ok, really going now :)

Great February! Hope March is even better.:sunny:

Ahh, marsh! Take care of you! Sorry your feeling poorly.:(

Just leave the scale out there, I'll be by this afternoon to deal with HIM!!
Hope your feeling better soon. Chicken soup is just the ticket!::yes::
