marcia's journal (comments welcome!)

Hi Marcia!
Great job on the low points day yesterday! I always find it hard to stick to 20 pts when I'm supposed to. :( Must be a mental thing, because Sunday was supposed to be high and ended up being pretty low for me. Go figure!
Okay, make sure you get plenty of good food before your run tonight. You'll probably make it somewhat long since you were off yesterday, right?!:smooth: Make sure to take good care of you!

Its Fat Tuesday, so here's a :jester: Mardi Gras greeting for you!

hey judy, amanda, denise, and sharon! it really was nice to take some time for me yesterday :). i mean, i guess i do pretty often, seeing as i'm my only responsibility, but yeah, consciously doing it was nice :)

so the goal for today is to eat 25 points. target is 20 and i'll be earning 5 aps tonight, running 4ish miles, then walking 1. breakfast was a low carb bagel w/morningstar pattie and cheese. i was gonna eat an apple too, but i was stuffed! so i made the apple my morning snack. for lunch, i have leftovers of whole wheat pasta, shrimp, and broccoli from saturday night's dinner out. of course, i'll be having a pria bar before my run, and hot cocoa afterwards. also carrots and a banana at some point. i'm really craving banana, so i've already added it to my day, just not sure when :p. not sure what i'm doing for dinner either. depends whether or not my mom is cooking anything. but i've got 8 points for dinner, which is plenty. i could always fall back on a big bowl of oatmeal with pb, or a pbj, something like that.

it just started snowing here a little while ago. i had no idea it was supposed to snow! i usually check the weather, but must have forgotten the past few days. hrmph. i'm ready for spring. silly white stuff. we dont' want you anymore! go away! we want :sunny: and flowers, and nice warm weather to run outside in! ok, i'm done yelling at the snow now. like tigger says (sharon says it too!! :teeth: ) - ttfn, ta ta for now :hyper:

Yuck, no more snow! At least you are craving a banana and not some candy or sweets. Its good to want fruit. Now that we are talking about bananas I want one too. I need to stop at the grocery store and get some.

27 days until Spring.

Looks like you have a great plan for the day, Marcia. Hence your reputation as super planner.:p Have fun on your run.
:sunny:
Beth

What, didn't you PLAN for this snow Marcia?????!!!!

:jester:  :jester:

Sharon:teeth:

steph - hell yeah i'm glad i'm craving banana! how funny though! but you are so right, much much better than craving chocolate :p

beth - thanks for the countdown..maybe i should put a countdown to spring into my signature, along with the one for the disney marathon :teeth:

sharon - i most definitely did not plan for the snow, and you know how much i love it when things go against my plan! haha, oh man, and i had even more stuff go against my plan! read below.

ok, so i was doing so well today, but i was tired, and really looking forward to my run to wake me up. well, i went down to the gym, and there was a sign that said "temporarily closed for maintenance". oh no! so i went back upstairs to ask the lady in charge what was up, and she told me they were starting the renovations on the locker rooms. why this meant they had to close the whole gym...i just don't know  . they'll only be doing one locker room at a time, so they'll set up a schedule for men and women, but for now, it's all closed. so i had to run outside! in the snow! and the dark! yikes. i wasn't too thrilled about it. and so i only ran about 4.25 miles, without any walking afterwards like usual. and i have to do it for the next 2 days as well. oh man. i'll be waking up to do it in the morning, cause i'd rather do it in the morning when it has to be outside. and man, it's gonna be cold again! but i have no choice. gotta do it!

food wise, i'm good. so i originally thought 5 aps, but without the walking, it's just 4 aps. so 24 points for today. i so wasn't even hungry for dinner, but i ate a big bowl of pb/banana oatmeal and some carrots with hummus, to eat up the points. and i'm still at 23. but that's ok. i just can't eat anymore.

b: thomas lc bagel + morningstar pattie + 2% cheese slice = 4
s: apple = 1
l: whole wheat pasta w/shrimp and broccoli = 6
s: pria bar = 2
s: hot cocoa w/skim = 2
d: big bowl pb/banana oatmeal + 1 cup carrots + 2 tbsp hummus = 8

total: 23

i'm doing this while watching american idol, because i want to head to bed as soon as the show is over. love waking up early to run  . and i feel like suck a slug complaining about waking up at 6:15am. i know people deal with much worse and much more often. so i'm gonna suck it up and deal with it :). oh, also, tomorrow i may go visit my cousin with the e.d. after work. so dinner may be a problem if i have to eat there. we'll see.

time to go plan out tomorrow, with the exception of dinner. not a big deal. alrighty, hope everyone has a good night/morning. catch ya when i get settled into work tomorrow :)

Marcia,

That stinks about the gym being closed. I hope you have a good run in the wee hours of the morning. Try to stay warm. Goodnight.
Beth

I think that is awesome that you're a runner...thats one of my dreams, ummm, I mean goals:teeth:

Good morning Marcia! Are you dethawed yet? Man, I just had to walk my kids up to school and I was FREEZING! The wind was certainly biting this AM.:( Did you get up and run this morning? I wouldn't blame you if you didn't. And if you did, Woman, you are a kook!!!!!
So how are you this morning?:sunny:

Good morning, Marcia! :sunny: I hope you had a good run this morning--I hate running in the cold by myself; you should make your brother run w/ you! :p Your dedication is great! I have to have DH run w/ me otherwise I would just use any excuse not to. I don't understand why because I truly do love it, but I'm always so tired after school--I'd love to be able to SLEEP IN until 6:15! You know I'm teasing you. Also, don't worry about dinner; you know you're doing the right thing. ::yes:: Have a wonderful day! TTYL :)

Marcia, you amaze me with your dedication to running! I can't even get motivated to get up and do an INSIDE workout at home in the morning!! I hope all the exercising around here rubs off on me soon!! :p Hope you had a good run and stayed warm.

Don't worry about dinner tonight. Do the best you can with what's available. Supporting your cousin is more important than a point here or there. ::yes::

Hope it's a sunny day for you, Marcia! :sunny:

Marcia! Your dedication is amazing!
I really needed some of what you have yesterday. I was being pulled in every direction and, as is usually the case, did not get to my workout! I even had an extra helping of risotto at dinner last night. AND I really wanted more than one glass of wine. Can you belive DH stopped me? I had really mixed feelings on that! But I'm glad he did.
I am taking some of your self discipline and going to do my strenth right now, with the dishes in the sink and the laundry piling up! Me first! (anyway, I did the laundry yesterday, and the dishes and made my bed. Can you believe it? I have to do it all over again today!) Thanks for the inspiration!

Keep the Faith!
Tracy

Hey Marcia~
I am amazed by your dedication to running too! It's funny because the other day my brother in law and I were talking about the President's Physical Fitness Test that we had to take in middle school. I could pass every area of that test except the mile run! Every year, I always came in about 6 minutes over the time that we needed to pass the running part of the test. It was so frustrating! I guess I wasn't born with a running gene, but I so admire those that were! :D You are doing a great job! Keep up the good work!!:sunny: :sunny: THINK SPRING!!

thank you everyone! i think my dedication to running can be easily explained. when i do something, it becomes an obsession, and very much an addiction. i don't do things half way. it's all or nothing for me. so as frustrating as it was to get to the gym and see it closed, it wasn't a question of whether or not i'd run outside, it was more of a question of how fast can i get home to get my warm clothes, and how much daylight will actually be left for me.

judy - yes, i suck slugs! that is too funny! i often mispell "such" as "suck" and i don't know why! i'd have to read over things more carefully

and yes, yes i did run outside in this *friggid* weather! my alarm went off at 6:15, but the volume was down so low i didn't ever hear it! i turned over and looked at the clock and it said 6:30! oops. i still had plenty of time, thank goodness. but i don't even want to think about how cold it was. good thing i knew i was coming home to a nice steaming hot cocoa! but like i've said before, there was no choice, i just had to do it. same thing for tomorrow morning, except this morning was 3 (actually did 3.75, because i refused to slow down to a walk for the last .5 like usual..too cold!!), and tomorrow is 4. good thing i have wicking pants and shirts, plus a fleece, ear headband thingy, and gloves! i may put another pair of pants over my tight ones tomorrow though, my legs were a bit chilly.

so yeah, all that, and it was only 3 aps. i should get an extra just for dealing with that weather! haha, just kidding, just kidding. not like i feel like i'm extra hungry or anything, it's just the priciple of the thing :p

i still haven't heard back from my cousin, so i odn't know if i'll be headed over there tonight. we shall see. planned out food for the day is a total of 14 points, so that leaves 9 for dinner. of course, if i end up with my cousin, i'm not going to worry about it. but if i'm home, that's more than enough.

alright, i've got some stuff to get done here at work, then i have to go get ashes on my forehead during my lunch break. fun. good thing i packed my lunch to eat here when i get back. i'll check in later tonight with a full report of the day :hyper:

Marcia:

You dedication to getting out there and running in such cold weather is truly amazing. I have problems with a brisk walk in the cold - asthma. Congrats on the inches disapearing too.

Spring is coming...I swear it is. A preview arrived early out here last weekend - it was actually 60 degrees and I had to go out and mow the lawn!

All your hard work and good food choices are really paying off. Keep up the great work and thanks so much for all your kind words and support. I'll say hello to Mickey for you!

-Laurie

hey laurie, i really can't wait for spring :). and thanks for saying hi to the mouse for me :teeth:

end of the day check in. didn't end up going to my cousin's. maybe tomorrow. went to trader joe's with my mom tonight, to look around for ideas. found better 'n peanut butter. i've heard good things about it, so i got a jar. well, i made myself a "better n pb" and sf preserves sandwich for a snack, and well, it's just not the same. i think i'm going to give up my quest to find a subsitute for peanut butter. i will just suck it up and deal with the fact that the real thing is so high points. anyway, here's the details from today:

b: banana + hot cocoa w/water + lc bagel + morningstar pattie + 2% cheese slice = 6
s: carrots = 0
l: 2 mini whole wheat pitas + 2 tbsp hummus + 1/2 cup cucumber + 1/2 cup red peppers + soup at hand velvety potato = 6
s: columbo light yogurt + 1/2 cup all bran = 2
d: healthy choice lemon pepper fish meal (including broccoli, rice, and apple/cherry dessert) + salad of lettuce, cucumbers, peppers and ff italian dressing = 5
s: mini reese's pb cup = 1
s: 2 slices light whole wheat + 1 tbsp better n pb + 1 tbsp sf preserves = 2

total: 22

well, goal was 23 for today, 20 target plus 3 aps. once again, i've got an ap leftover. oh well.

tomorrow is 4ish miles in the morning, cold yickiness! and once again, tomorrow is planned except for dinner. 8.5 points to work with for dinner. so that's good. anyway, it's already past my bed time. time to hit the sack! hope everyone has a great day tomorrow :sunny:

Hey Marcia,

I'm sending some extra warm:goodvibes your way. I hope it was a good run even in the cold. Keep up the great work.
Take care.
Beth

Sounds like you are doing great Marcia, keep up the great work! You've been a great motivator for me! :D

Have a great day.:sunny:

Good Morning Marcia! :sunny: You are having another awesome week. Good for you! Your gonna see payoff in the inches lost and/or scale for sure!
Your dedication to exercise really inspires me. Running in the cold?! You ROCK! ::yes::
I'm with you on the PB! I don't eat it too much cause I don't get enough bang for my buck (or pts I should say ;) )But if I'm gonna have it, its gotta be the real stuff. Somethings I can handle the low fat/ low cal version, PB just isn't one of them!
Hope you have an awesome day! Heres some extrie :sunny: for you!!:teeth:
