marcia's journal (comments welcome!)

hey judy, thanks!

and sharon, yeah, you take care of it. and i'll stick to the chicken soup!

i've had a hard time with food today. almost like i'm forcing myself to eat. so strange! not used to this! i'm drinking some of my points in orange juice too though, so that's helping. i really want to stick to my points (meaning, don't go under), because i'm already worried that my body thinks i'm not eating enough! plus, i want to run the next 3 days, so i need the nutrition. i haven't even hit 20 points yet for the day, but i'm planning to have another slice of banana bread with peanut butter and maybe anotehr cup of oj before i go to bed. that will get me over. goal for today was 24, may not hit that though.

b: 1 slice light wheat + breakfast pattie + 2% american slice + slice banana bread + 1/2 tbsp pb = 5.5
s: 1 piece chocolate = 1
l: 2 oz sole + 1/2 cup br rice + 1 cup broccoli = 3
s: soup at hand chicken stars = 1
d: pb/banana oatmeal = 5
s: 1 cup orange juice = 2

total: 17.5

yikes, that's really low. but the pb and banana bread will put me at 20.5, then another cup of oj will make it 22.5. maybe i'll just add 1.5 points on somewhere later in the week, because i really just can't eat anymore! and today would have been the perfect time to splurge on ice cream or something like that right? yeah, too bad dairy products do not mix well with me when i have a cold. so i'm pretty much avoiding them like the plague. oh well.

so tomorrow i am determined to run. hopefully, it'll help me feel better. but i promise to listen to my body. and if i can't do it, i will stop. i'm not going to do it in the morning, because it's supposed to rain. so after work it is. but i really will listen to my body. if it wants a nap again like it did today, i'll go with that. as hard as it would be to skip a run, i will if i have to. so all you moms can be assured that i will not push it! i promise! :p

that's a wrap for today. time to go veg in front of the tv and hit the sack early :faint:

I hope you are feeling better marcia. You have great plan for tomorrow of listening to your body adn then making the decision to run or not. I hope you are feeling well enough to run though since you really seem to enjoy it.

Isn't funny how some days you seem to run out of points so quickly yet other days you can't seem to eat enough points even though you've tried so hard.

Gosh Marcia, I hope your feeling better today. Enjoy your run today but don't push to hard. You might make yourself even sicker. Orange juice is a very good choice to finish your points. Lots of vitamins and nutrients in it. Hope your day is terrific.

Good morning, Marcia! I hope to find you feeling better this am. Take it easy and just take another day off if you need it. Have a wonderful day and smile--you will get better! :sunny: ::yes::

Marcia, I hope you're feeling better! You've been doing a fabulous job with your points and I just know the scale will start cooperating soon! I like the idea of forgetting about the scale and just going by how your jeans fit, but how can I suggest it to you when I can't stay off the scale myself? :p

Hope your run goes well today. If you're feeling awful, you could just walk for a mile, just to keep your muscles limbered up. Of course, that nap is sounding mighty nice, too! Listen to your body - it will tell you what you need.

Did you set any goals for March?

Hi Marcia,

I hope you are feeling better today. Please take care of yourself. If you don't feel up to a run, don't. Listen to your body. You have a pilates tape right, maybe you could do some of that. Thank you for reassuring us Moms.

Marcia~
Good morning! I am sorry that you're not feeling well. I hope that today is a better day for you and that you feel better. If you do run, please take it easy and listen to your body. If you really start feeling punky, maybe a walk instead would help a bit.

By the way, what a fantastic February! 25/29 Cheat Free days! That is wonderful! All of that planning really paid off for you! GREAT JOB!!! WOOHOO!!:Pinkbounc  :bounce:

You hang in there today and take good care of yourself. Maybe have some chicken soup and relaxation if you are still not feeling well. Here's some :sunny: and :wizard: to help you feel better! Take care!

 Hi Marcia,
I hope you are feeling better today. Have you tried some hot tea? Not sure it will help you with your points but it will warm up your insides and help with the stuffiness.

Hi Marcia!

Looks like your weekend panned out fairly well! I'm so glad, but now you aren't feeling well. :( I'm sorry. Here is some :wizard: to pick you up. You'll be back to yourself in no time. Til then, just take good care of you. No sense in trying to do too much, only to prolong the agony.

Hey, guess what? You inspired me to start running! Yup! Only on the TM for now, but yesterday, I ran 20 mins! Now, I also only did it in 4 min segments, but for me, that was quite an accomplishment! I felt so good, and got a bit high off of the whole thing. Felt like I was back in School running track! I can't wait to do it again, and I think it will really help with my 5 pound goal for this month! Thanks for the inspiration! Feel better soon!

Tracy

thank you everyone for hoping i feel better :). i'm actually doing pretty well today. maybe it has something to do with the nyquil/dayquil i'm popping at regular intervals :p . nose is still stuffy, as is my head, and i've still not got much of an appetite, but the rest of my body is feeling okay. i think the extra sleep yesterday helped.

steph - it really is crazy how some days i struggle to stay within points, and other days i can't seem to make target! i guess a little cold will do that to ya though. great weight loss tool

judy - thanks, the oj really seems to be the trick for me right now

denise - thanks for reminding me to smile :). just reading everyone's responses have got me doing it now, but i'll keep it going throughout the day :)

doe - i'll be listening to my body, right now, it's giving me the go ahead for the run. hope it doesn't change its mind later :p . and i have to write out my goals! i keep saying that. but i'm gonna do it in this post, thanks for the reminder ::yes::

beth - thanks sweetie :). if my body changes its mind later, i may just do the pilates dvd. i'll play it by ear

tracy (toy story) - thanks, and i promise to slow it down if i need to. if i start to run and cant' do it, i'll take it down to a walk.

val - yes, i'm doing the hot tea thing too :). decaf tea with some splenda is 0 points, so i'm good to go. i also have herbal apple cinnamon tea which is just divine (and also 0 points), but it's at home.

tracy (tlgo) - thanks for the pixiedust! and i am so proud of you for running! 20 minutes, that is so great! and there is no such thing as "only" on the treadmill! 20 minutes of running is 20 minutes of running! you go girl! i am so touched that my running helped to get you going, that makes me all warm and fuzzy inside

so i said i would set out my goals for march, and i'm going to do it!

1. take my vitamins (multi vitamin and calcium) every day
2. drink my water. i don't have a specific amount, since i always have a cup with each meal, about 5 tumblers at work, then whatever i drink during and after running, plus a water bottle i carry around all the time.
3. food - stick to my points. this means eating *all* of them, including aps.
4. exercise - run 5 days a week. the other 2 days, do some cross training unless my body needs a complete rest day. also, know when to take a break from running if my body needs it.
5. figure out my grad school stuff
6. be cheat free 27 days out of the month. i made it 25/29 in feb (86%), so 27/31 would be around the same at 87%

i'll write more if i can think of any more. i think the hardest one is the one that doesn't involve food/exercise...number 5! i just have to get myself moving. i think i should make a checklist of stuff for myself that is included in that. like, call citibank, fill out forms, stuff like that. one thing at a time. sometimes, i just view it as a big huge project that is impossible, but if i break it down, it is much easier to do each thing ::yes::

oh, and i just found out that next week, i'm going to be babysitting/housesitting for the week! sun march 7 - sun march 14, but not the friday and saturday. it's for a 13 year old girl who i've babysat before. her older sister will be there the fri and sat, that's why they don't need me then. this should make my eating plan interesting for next week. probably everything except dinner should be okay, since after i drive her to school, i can go to my own house to get ready for work, and i always eat at home for lunch. plus, they have a treadmill at their house, so i can be there with ashley, but also get my running in, which is good. dinner though, i don't know what's gonna happen. we'll probably do a lot of takeout, maybe some frozen meals. much harder to plan when i have to think of other people's tastes! i think i'll just go with a "good choices" plan for dinners. should be interesting. oh well, i need the money.

so this has gotten pretty long. guess i should cut myself off now :). i'll check back in later in the day.

Hi Marcia! Sounds like your feeling a little better today. That's good!::yes::
I stopped by to see if you set your goals - I'm checking up on you!:teeth: I see you did and I like them. I also like that you recognize that number 5 is going to be your tuffest. Good luck with all of them! I know you can do it.:smooth:

Hey, I took care of that scale for ya!!! You shouldn't be having any troubles with him in the future!!

Have a good day Marcia!
TTFN-
Sharon

Hey Marcia,

Just wanted to pop in and say hi.

Wow! Next week could very well be interesting. I think you have a good plan though. Just try to make good choices and if you keep portions down, that should be good.

Have fun and a great day. :sunny:

yup, i'm definitely feeling better :). better knock on wood though, i'm sure it's not gone, but hopefully, it was just a mini cold and is getting ready to leave.

sharon - thanks for checking up on me and making sure i did what i said i'd do, i need a kick in the butt sometimes :). and thanks for showing that scale who's boss :smooth:

pam - hey! thanks for stopping by! next week will definitely be a challenge, but i think i'm gonna make it okay ::yes::

so today i was worried about running, and even though it was *gorgeous* out, i ran inside on the treadmill so that i could be in control of the conditions, speed, distance, all that good stuff. i made sure to keep the speed slower than usual, and it felt so great! it's one of the best runs i've had in a while, i just felt amazing during it, almost like it was no effort at all. how strange! having a cold is not only a great appetite supressant, but also a great workout booster apparently! i can only hope this continues :p . of course, i don't want the cold to get worse, but the way it's acting right now, i can handle it :). anyway, ran 4.25 miles in 42 minutes (just about 10 minute miles), then walked for 10 minutes. 5 aps.

food wise, it was a 22 point wendie day, plus aps. so 22 + 5 = 27. i'm getting there, after i drink my last cup of oj for the day, i'll be right on target.

b: pb/banana oatmeal + 1 cup oj = 6
s: cup carrots = 0
l: homemade chicken soup w/chicken, rice, broccoli + 1 piece banana bread + 1 cup oj = 8
s: pria bar + 10 m&m's = 3
w: 4.25 mi run, 10 min walk (5 aps)
s: hot cocoa w/water = 0
d: lean cuisine chicken and mashed potatos meal + 1 apple = 5
s: piece banana bread + 1/2 tbsp pb = 3
s: 1 cup oj = 2

total: 27

so i'm still avoiding milk products, and i plan to continue doing so until there is no sign of a cold anymore. i think the running is actually going to help it go away...i went and did some research on cool running, and it seems that people with head colds keep running (chest colds, they say you should try to rest), and it helps the colds go away quicker. works for me! tomorrow, i'll be waking up early and running outside before work. should be in the 40s, and that sounds great to me :)

i think the reason that i'm having trouble eating too much food is that things just don't taste right with my nose all stuffy. like, yesterday, i tried to eat carrots dipped in hummus for a morning snack, and the taste just did not work out. i couldn't do it. plus i wasn't hungry, i was just trying to eat up some points. ah, who knows. i'll just go with it and keep drinking my extra points in orange juice.

ok, i better head to bed if i want to wake up early. catch you in the am :)

Marcia,

I'm glad you had a good run. Keep listening to your body. Get some rest, girl.

Beth

You doing a great job sticking to points & workout even while sick!!! Hope you feel better soon.

Holly

I'm sorry your mini cold is keeping you from enjoying some snacks. I hate it when that happens. WAY TO GO on the running though! You are kicking my butt for sure (be gentle it's sore from doing the firm workouts ;) )

Hope today is a wonderful day for you and remember to drink your OJ and give your body rest when it needs it.

~Amanda

Marcia, hope your early morning run went as well as yesterday's run and that your cold has gotten better! Way to go on those points for yesterday!! I'm happy to see that you're eating those APs, especially when you're sick and your body needs the extra energy to fight off that nasty cold!

Hope it's a great day for you! :sunny:

Hi Marcia!

Hope you're feeling all better this morning! ::yes:: Those head colds are nothing but a big pain! Congrats on sticking with your exercise, even though you felt so stuffy. Way to go!

Hope you have a wonderful day!

~Angela

:wave2: Hi Marcia,
