Went for a 3.52 mile run after work today, despite the rain. It's Seattle, when is it ever not raining?
So, me and the Garmin Forerunner are already good friends. Totally worth every penny spent on it. I love having the Virtual Running Partner to keep me on pace! Even if I did defeat the purpose, and whip its little butt in the home stretch.
Also, it seems to me that it is more consistent in measuring my heart rate than my Polar F4. My heart rate was often all over the place with the Polar HRM, but the Garmin showed it as remarkably stable for my workout. It also picked up the satellites much faster than I expected.... I turned it on and it was all ready to go.
Anyway, I love it. The Garmin really beats trying to run a constant pace based on expected heart rate, which is what I had been trying to do with my Polar HRM. It was fine for when the majority of my running was based off of heart rate zones, but not so great now that I've graduated to pace-based training. I also love being able to look at my route on Google Maps, after uploading it to MapMyRun; I could even see the little detour I took to avoid the off-leash dog!
