MARCHing like Mulan - Exercise Challenge

380/1200

23 miles running/walking for the week, plus some snow shoveling and stretching makes it a good week for me. We'll see if I can maintain that next week!

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is having a swell weekend.

Welcome to our newest recruit and newest True Bluer:
dglilbit

Congratulations to our newest Outstanding Orange members:
glss1/2fll
2TXAgs
and me

Did you know that as a team we are only 1,848 minutes away from hitting the orange level as a team??!!?? I think we can get there by Wednesday. What do you think?

If you're like me, I usually start out strong and then start to fade in the second week. BUT NOT THIS MONTH! This month we're Warriors and we're in it for the long haul. I'm so impressed with everyone's committment, strenght and energy.

I got this week's motivational quote from ...well...a bit of an unlikely source as he might not be what you think of when you think of a traditional soldier but this is Disney afterall. And I think it's a good quote heading into our second week of 'battle' - Discipline! Discipline is the thing! - Colonel Hathi

Who can tell me what movie that's from without peeking?

I'd guess Jungle Book, but I haven't seen that one in years so I could be way off.

Heading to the gym soon for cardio day, will update with numbers when I get back!

I have no idea where the quote is from but I can't wait to find out! Updating my last two days- 30 min yoga, 20 min legs, and 40 min run - wait for it- OUTSIDE!!! It was hilly. It was miserable. It was wet. But it was Outside. Spring is coming!!!

Trith - gold star for you! The Jungle Book is the right answer!

This! We went for a walk today, and it was slushy and muddy and there was water in my boots but everything wasn't frozen! It's just an amazing feeling, isn't it? And congrats for making it though the run. :)

I knew someday my Disney trivia would come in handy ;)

Anyhow, 40 minutes of cardio at the gym today. Meant to do 60 but hit a wall around half an hour that I just couldn't push through. Oh well, c'est la vie.

First day of enjoying the outdoors with a balmy 48 degrees and sun!! 70 minute 4 mile walk around the lake.

320 / 1,000

312/1200
42 min bridge run with hubby. I beat him last Wednesday so he wanted a rematch. I beat him at the 5k mark but he passed me after that to finish ahead at the end. Competition within a family . Love it. :yay:

Mrs Ar I totally undersand, my husband and I are in competition as to how many miles we run. Right now at 63 miles so far for the year, I'm 2.5 miles ahead of him. I can almost feel him breathing down my neck.

Keep up the good work everyone! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

40 minutes of walking and 135 minutes of run/walk brings me to 295/1000 :cool2:

81 minutes for me today including among some other cardio a four mile run outside!!!

348/1000

16 minutes today

245/1000

I've been having a hard time staying motivated lately ... I can stay motivated for a few days, but then I lose it. I really don't know what to do, because nothing I've tried has helped.

oh Monday....I overslept by a few minutes, it's dark, it's probably cold. There's laundry in piles all over the livingroom floor that need to get put away and some dirty dishes in the sink...

bluck.

but do you know what can brighten up a day? Checking in on this thread. Honestly, you folk are amazing and funny and just plain super cool.

Congratulations to our newewst true bluer:
pix13dust!

As a team we're currently a hair over 19% and I have hopes of us being Orange by the the end of the day Wednesday. We only need 1325 - how much of that can you do? Remember team: Discipline! Discipline was the thing! - Colonel Hathi (Jungle Book)

Motivation is tricky and can be something that we all struggle with from time to time, so know that you're not alone. One of the things that works for me is having a goal. Whether it is getting ready for an event, trying to get to the next color on a monthly exercise challenge or trying to beat a time on a previous run or lifting more or lasting longer or going further. I also find it's helpful to talk about your goals with other folks (it makes me feel accountable) and to have a couple of friends or family members who inspire me to push just a little bit more. Just some of my thoughts. Other folks may have tools or tricks that work for them.

Updating from the weekend:

Friday - 20 minutes strength training
Sunday- 76 minute run, outside like so many of you! Feet were soaked but it was so worth it!

Total 221/1500

I think not really having any events to get ready for is what's killing me. I started running after I signed up for a race, and from there I went to trying to get some sort of exercise every day ... and since the race, I have really lost my motivation, and I haven't found any other races that I'd be interested in training for.

Today I did manage to get out for my run ...
74 minutes total (mixture of running and walking)

319/1000

Today's lesson from me is about falling down and getting back up.
Being the klutz that I am, I fell. I hurt a little, but mostly I just felt like an idiot. But once I got back up, I decided to just walk home instead of running.
About a block later I realized ... why shouldn't I keep running? It doesn't hurt too much (actually got better as I ran), and it never hurts to try. I ended up running for another 20+ minutes and going farther than I would have had I just been walking home.
So the moral of the story is: if you fall down, dust yourself off and keep on running!

Adding 60 more minutes of pool physical therapy, plus 30 more minutes since last posting. 49 degrees today in NY! Snow melting!:butterfly:daisy::rose:

240/900 total so far.
