MARCHing like Mulan - Exercise Challenge

75 minutes today, between cardio/strength/foam rolling

620/1200

Congrats to everyone that's getting out there and running!

I did get great news a few days ago. I was drawn in the NY Marathon lottery. I'm so excited.

Congratulations! That's amazing! Will this be your first NYC marathon?

I went out running earlier ... so nice to have the weather warming up! The only problem was puddles everywhere from all the melting snow!

78 minutes (running & walking)

Puts me at 412/1000

you're going to think I'm making this up but I swear I'm not.

According to my spreadsheet we are currently at 24.99%

The next person to post will get us to ORANGE status!!!

It will be. I've been told there is nothing like it. I've done 2 marathons at Disney so I know I can get the training in and hopefully finish strong. Such a change for me from 2 1/2 years ago when I couldn't run more than 1/3 mile before wearing out. My daughter is going through a charity and I can count on her support to help me through rough patches.

I knew everyone here would understand.

455/1500

We did our first timed mile at C25K, I was amazed that I was timed at 13:00 on the nose. I really thought I was around 16-18 minutes/mile. Now I'm looking forward to see what my times are next month at the Captiol10K and Biggest Loser half marathon.

MARCHing like Mulan 6341/23735 = 26.72%

I adore this team!

Congratulations this morning to our most recent color changers.
Joining OUTstanding Orange (have you seen our first post? It looks a bit like hunting season in Maine, it's so orange)

and we have our first Purple Power!:

I think that one of my most favorite things about a team like this is that we're a bunch of random strangers all working towards a similar goal. We just want to move. We choose different ways, methods, weights, and distances. Some of us wear swimsuits, while others wear yoga pants or training gloves or sweat-soaked tee-shirts and/or some form of lycra. We all are at different places in our training. But we all keep moving - and I think that's pretty cool.

Well done team.

But that doesn't mean we get a day off! Discipline! Discipline was the thing! - from the Jungle Book

I've hit a bit of a mid-month slump.

21 minutes in the last two days. I have GOT to do better tomorrow. I don't want the slump to become too much of a thing.

436/1000

Only at 355/1395 so far - thank goodness I got a head start at the beginning of the month.

Good Morning, All!

After our mad flurry of activity on Wednesday, Thursday brought us a small but mighty army of folks reporting in and among them was our newest Orange member.

Congratulations to:
dizzyr!

Wish me luck.

This morning I'm going to attempt to register for a race where the registration process can bring on more anxiety then actually running the course.

Last year 4,000 bibs were taken and the first wave of registration was closed within 4 minutes and 32 seconds. Fingers crossed that I get into this year's running of the Beach to Beacon 10K. I ran it in 2013 and it was amazing. I have never loved my husband more than when he asked Meb (last year's winner of the Boston marathon and all around good guy) if he would be willing to pose for a picture with me. The race is headed by Maine celebrity, and incredible athlete Joan Benoit who back in the '80s won the first gold in the Olympic Women's Marathon. If you're not familiar with her and you're looking for some running (or any sport really) inspiration you should google her. Seriously.

When she first started running she was so shy and embarrased about having anyone see her that when she heard a car coming on the road, she would stop and pretend that she was picking flowers or tying her shoe or anything. Can you imagine? to go from a runner on the back roads of Maine who was embarrased about her running to becoming a running icon!

Anyway, we'll see if my typing skills are quick enough.

Hope you all have a great Friday! I'm hoping to get to they gym, it's been a few days.

Hmack- sorry to hear that you didn't get in. That is disappointing... :( will you still spectate and see Benoit? :)

Just finished a short run myself- 30 min plus the 10 min leg workout from yesterday and I'm at 365/1260

What I'm most excited about though is that I've managed to get my butt out of bed twice this week and run before work. I'm like the anti-morning person so this is a huge feat. I'm working on forming habits and this is one of the main ones I am aiming for. Reading an awesome book that's helping me take a close look at my life and hopefully feel less stressed and overwhelmed- called The Sweet Spot. So far I highly recommend it.

Happy pi day everyone! And Friday too! :)

Very busy week and didn't get much time to exercise but was able to squeeze in 30 minutes on the bike tonight. I'm hoping to get outside this weekend and go for a hike.

I was trying to behave myself but hubby and I walked over an hour through some of the monuments after supper. Hmack, sorry you weren't able to get in. I guess that's why so many popular races are going lottery.

Tomorrow is expected to be a wet race so I may have lots of minutes to report here. :rolleyes1

Hope everyone has a great and active Saturday.
