March it WAS, May it IS!

Hi Dana:hug:

I am so sorry to hear about everything that you've been going through and continue to go through. My heart goes out to you and you are in our thoughts!

It's nice that you have an upcoming vacation to speed that healing along! How exciting that you and Leanne will be there at the same time, there is nothing like seeing old friends in our happy place!

I am here to follow along and will keep you in my prayers!

Awww thank you Jacquie . I will be so glad when I can finally say that I don't need more surgery and I am not having pain. I feel like this has been strung out forever :sad2:.

It will be nice to see Leanne again; I haven't seen her since May of 2010 :scared1:. I hope time goes by fast because I am having serious Disney withdrawals :scared1:. I am excited that Amanda and Matt will be going with us too :cool1:.

Thank you for the prayers!! They are very much needed and appreciated .

I know that you are ready to get this whole surgery/rehab business over with and go to Disney. You've had such bad luck lately and you deserve the trip. I hope that ya'll do get to drive to Disney on June 1st so we can have a little time together.

You are so right!! I am starting to wonder if I will even be back at work before time for my trip. I am waiting for my workman's comp rep. to mail me a list of doctors to choose from. Once that is done, and I pick one, I will have to see him and then have my surgery scheduled. I am thinking that could be 2 weeks for that all to happen. Then after surgery I likely won't even start PT till I am 6 weeks post op. According to most of the information I have read, it can take 4-6 months for full recovery :sad2::sad1:. That is why I am so upset with the surgeon, he could have already don't my surgery and I could be working on getting through it.

You know I can feel your pain (so to speak) on dealing with worker's comp. John's been on it for almost 20 years now and they can be such a pain to work with. Thankfully, the latest adjuster we've been assigned to is pretty easy to reach and helps answer any questions we have.

I hope that they get the list to you soon and that you can get in to see the surgeon quickly. It's always the waiting that's the hardest part.

You and John must have the patients of Job because I am about to lose my mind just dealing with them for 2 1/2 months. I am glad you have a good adjuster because it makes all the difference. I have hit a few snags already. I keep checking my mailbox and voice mail to see if they have gotten me the list yet, but NO go so far. I guess I do need to give them a chance since it has only been two days........:lmao: It seems like much longer though.

I am just worried that I won't have the vacation time I need to make our trip :scared1:.

Please say a prayer for the Mobile Police Department. One of our officers was murdered and 2 more shot today by a suspect that escaped while he was being booked. The officer murdered was a rookie who has been on the police force for less than a year. The suspect stabbed the officer in the neck and stole his police car, he has not been apprehended yet. I have a good friend on the police force and they haven't released the names of the police yet.

Today is the start of Mardi Gras with the first parade set to roll at 6:30. I think it should be canceled!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A uniform, a gun, a badge upon your chest.
These things make not super beings ...
just men and women, human like the rest.
Though sometimes taken for granted,
or even viewed with scorn or spite ...
... ... ... Some eyes see you for what you truly are ...
A shield against the night.

At times your job is thankless.
Another shift has gone by,
and not a kind word is spoken,
not a single word at all.
Those endless hours spent filling out
reports bring nothing but boredom.
A headache rages in your skull.

You may ask yourself if it is really worth it?
There are many risks, no progress in sight.
The answer is a simple yes my friend,
for you are a cop, an officer ...
A shield against the night.

An car overturned, a robbery, a chase,
consoling a victim, whispering all will be well.
A frightened child's hand is held,
he is lost and out of place.
The call of duty is answered
no hesitation, no question.
A champion to those who can not fight.
You stand alone sometimes,
the only thing between the darkness
and the light.

A hero every minute, no matter how mundane the day.
Take pride in what you do.
Although very human,
You my friend....are
A shield against the night.

Thank you so much for sharing that beautiful poem! My ex is a police officer and I know all too well the worry that comes with that job! We have said a special prayer for those brave men and women who defend us everyday

Thank you Jacquie.
I think it takes a very special person to have a policeman as a husband/wife/SO. I have a good friend on the police force here in Mobile and all I could think about was him being involved. It didn't make it much easier once I found out it wasn't John because I then hurt for the family of the officer that died. He has 3 children and had only been on the police force for 2 years. He was an outstanding youth leader and gave back so much to the community at large.

This is a picture of Officer Green.

Officer Steven Green 1975-2012

On the news tonight they showed the arrival of the Honor Flag in Pensacola. There were policemen from over 20 municipalities in Alabama and Florida to escort the flag to Mobile. People were pulled off the Interstate to allow the flag to pass. The officer charged with carrying the flag was crying when he handed it off.

The man who took Officer Green's life was killed in a shoot out with police. I can't imagine where our world is headed when so many of our young people have little to no regard for authority or life.

Well, I found out last evening that Amanda and Matt will not be able to join us on this trip :sad2:. Matt only needs a few classes to graduate and two of the classes are going to be offered during the summer semester, so it was a Disney trip or classes needed to graduate? While I know it was a hard decision, they made the right one. It also turns out that one of Amanda's good friends is getting married that same weekend :sad2:.So it is now down to just the 4 of us again.

After reading that Lisa had such a good shopping trip this past weekend I decided I needed to look on Kohl's website and see what I could find :surfweb:. I hit pay dirt!! I got everything here for under $100----------Thanks Lisa!!

Here is what I ordered and all of it was on clearance plus I had a 20% discount and free shipping coupon.

These I ordered for Dallas, I got two pairs in different colors

All the rest are shirts I ordered for me.

My only concern is I am not sure what the scar on my shoulder will look like, so all the sleeveless may not be the best choice :sad2:. I'm not gonna stress about it too much though, I know it will be hot and I'm not really trying to impress anyone........:lmao:.

Speaking of my shoulder; this is what the image of my shoulder looked like. This isn't my MRI, but the image I was shown was exactly like this one.
full-thickness-rotator-cuff-tearel.jpg

All the white in the image is the contrast dye that was able to fill in the joint capsule through the tear in the rotator cuff.

A normal MRI of the shoulder looks like this.

Notice no contrast in the joint capsule?

So I am in a hurry up and wait mode as far as getting anything done since it is Workman's comp. I just want to get it over with!!!!

I'm sorry I was SOOOO behind on your TR!!! I'm really sorry for everything you have been going through. I hope they will fix your shoulder soon. It just seems like such an unreasonable amount of time that they are forcing you to live with that pain!
I can't believe all of the stuff you got at Kohl's for under $100!!!! That is awesome! I need you & Lisa to teach me how to shop. :)

I hate that Amanda and Matt won't be joining ya'll on the Disney trip but I can totally understand why they can't. I actually thought about paying for Lacey & Jesse to go with us to Disney but Jesse doesn't get a paid vacation (yet) so missing a week of work would be a big hit to their pocketbook.

You did an amazing job shopping at Kohl's. I've found some really good deals there and when you apply their coupons, the deal are even better.

It is the worst thing when a police officer is lost....there really are no words! Our prayers are with his family:angel:

You got some great deals there girl! Don't worry about your scar...who cares....you wear what's comfy! My BFF had a liver transplant 7 years ago this coming July and when they came with us to WDW in 2007 I made her put on her bikini! I said to her "you have nothing to be ashamed of..you fought to live and that is your battle scar...show it off proudly" and I'm happy to say she did!! I wish for you a trip with no pain:hug:

I saw this on our local news here. Apparently, this young man's mother lives in the Huntsville area.

You hate to think about any young family losing their husband/father. It's a sad story.

This one's my favorite---so pretty! :)

Hate to hear that Amanda and Matt won't be able to make it, but I agree with you. He's so close to graduating, that's what he needs to take care of. :thumbsup2

Hopefully things with your shoulder surgery will get underway soon! You need to get to feeling better!

So sad about the officer, and that Amanda and Matt won't be joining you. Here's hoping that we can maybe for a few days LOL

LOVE all them shirts!! Who cares about a stinkin scar? You'll wanna be nice and cool for the hot summer!! It's been a really warm winter, so who knows what the summer is gonna bring!!!

Thank you April! You aren't too far behind; I have not been that good at keeping it going myself :guilty:. Today I got the list of alternate doctors to choose from and I let my Workman's comp rep know who I wanted to see. The doctor I chose went to high school with me.

I get my inspiration for shopping from Lisa.......:lmao:.

Yeah Lisa I hate it, but school does come first. I was sad today when I had to call and cancel :sad2:.

I wanted to buy so much more, but I figured I had better stop before I went overboard........lol. Now I have to find shorts or capris to match the shirts!!!

It is so sad. His family won't get much from the policeman's fund either because he wasn't on the force that long. They are having his funeral tomorrow and they are allowing people to line the funeral process route. I plan on being there to show our police force, and his family, that we stand with them.

I think I did pretty decent on the shopping. I guess I shouldn't worry about the scar on my shoulder; it will match the one on my knee..........:lmao:.

I know Michelle, it is so sad. It just breaks my heart to see the coverage on the news. Especially when they show him putting the guy in the car.

I just want to get this all over with.

It is sad about Officer Green. I feel so bad for his family. I know that Amanda is not happy about having to miss the trip either, but school is more important.

Thanks on the shirts, I just hope they are as comfy as they look!! We have had a hot winter here too. It has reached the 80's a few times :sad2:. I know last time the winter was this mild; we had a very HOT summer .

Do you guys have a Belk nearby? If so, you should go check out their sale racks. I found some really nice capris for just $13.98. I was excited about that price and then I realized they were half off that! I bought the capris at the same time I bought the $70 dress for $8.

I've found several items on the clearance racks at Belk. I bought two pair of dress shorts during the Winter time and paid I think $5 a pair for them. Then, I bought the capris and dress a week or so ago.

Hollister had a 50% off all redlines sale and I bought Hunter five t-shirts and a polo shirt for just $56 which included shipping.

I did not find anything on their site last night. I looked at Walmart today and couldn't find anything there either. I think we will head to the mall this weekend and see if I can pull a Lisa.........:lmao:
