I think you have to go at least once. It's a super fun atmosphere, which I think you are paying the most for because in my opinion, the food is just okay.



My daughter did okay downstairs, which is where we were seated. Our friends (who live in the area) were having dinner with us and said, oh you HAVE to go upstairs, there's a huge elephant and its so awesome! I was hesitant because I wasn't sure how my DD would do. Sure enough, she lost her mind. So for us, the downstairs was fun, the upstairs--not so much lol. Our friends' son, who is the same age as my DD (both were newly 3 at the time), loved it, so you just never know...

It really could go either way with my son. It is so hard to know lol. So maybe we should sit downstairs to be safe? Can we request that when we call in?

We are ALMOST to the point where our first day will show up on Disneyland.com. It will be awesome when we can say we are going to Disneyland NEXT MONTH!

Sorry for that experience. Hopefully, she will forget about that misadventure and in time will enjoy visiting the restaurant again.

The Disneyland calendar is officially into March!! Just the first 4 days but still exciting!

And as I'd read in other threads, the castle is off the refurb schedule starting on March 3. This is perfect timing, because that will be our first day in the park. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the schedule doesn't change.

(With all of the refurbs, I've adjusted expectations for the whole trip, so I'm looking it as a bonus if the tarps are off.)

So far the schedule is showing no early admission hours in March. Is that normal? We're staying at the Grand in part because we want to take advantage of extra magic hour, and I have to admit I'll be a bit annoyed if they don't have it during our stay! The Feb calendar shows it as usual, but there's nothing in March - no EMH, no Magic Morning.

Sometimes the calendar goes up in stages. I wouldn't worry just yet, they'll probably add the early entry information when they get a bit further into the March calendar.

That's what I was hoping! Thanks for the reassurance ...it's our first time staying onsite, and I knew going into it that we were in for a lot of refurbs and closures during our visit, but that EMH is still a huge part of our plans!

Our first day in the park is the 7th so it should be up soon! Slowly but surely getting there! I also hope the castle sticks to the schedule so it's at least done while we are there! Need that classic pic of our family in front of the castle!

I can't decide if I should by our tickets in the next week or so, or wait and see if Orbitz offers their 20% back deal. I will probably be buying our Photopass plus in the next couple of weeks too!

It's the voucher to get the photopass plus card when we get to DLR, plus the CD-ROM with stock photos on it and instructions for ordering our photopass CD after the trip. Since it's just DS(7) and I going, with a couple friends joining us part way through the trip, I really wanted to do photopass to get pictures of us together. Plus our friends are from the Netherlands and joining us for their first every Disney vacation, so I figured we'd get a ton of photopass pictures on the CD and order prints later for them as a special gift.

I made sure I put the voucher with the Disney gift cards we're using on the trip so I don't lose it!!

So what permissions does it give you when it comes to the pictures? Just to download, or do you get prints? Or just the ability to download them and order prints from a photo site? I'm just wondering because I've been seriously considering getting it for our trip.

The first picture on the CD is a release for you to print copies. We did it last trip and it was the best souvenir money spent!

I've made photobooks on Shutterfly with our photopass plus pictures, and used them on our Christmas cards. It's great having the release so we can do whatever we want with them! I'm plotting a photobook for our Dutch friends, and hoping for a good picture that I can put a "First Visit" border on to get a nice 5x7 print made for them.

Plus we're arriving on March 1 for the last part of Dapper Day, and DS has agreed to dress up with me, so I really want to get some photos of the two of us in our dapper clothes.
