March Check-In Thread!

Thanks for the schedule- it isn't up on the US site ye and I hadn't checked the Can site since yesterday…:) Good to see that the castle is schooled to be done for the 3rd still. 36 days to go and getting so excited! (already …imagine how happy I will be when it is less than a month. It is just that I booked almost a year ago now so that I could get it on points! So 35 days sounds really close when my countdown started at over 300.

Dapper day would be fun to dress up for! Thinking about it makes me want to watch Saving Mr. Banks again lol.

Do you have to provide the release when you order prints? Or it's a just in case thing? Just curious. (sorry for the 20 questions!)

I think it's just in case. The only time I've ever had anyone question it was getting prints at Walgreens. On Shutterfly I just uploaded them all to my account and made my photobooks and ordered the prints in the sizes I wanted, and there was no problem at all. My friend had hers printed at Costco and said she wasn't asked about it. The guy at Walgreens just asked me if we had the release from Disney, and I was able to give him the CD to load on his machine and he saw the release and that was it. He said he hadn't seen anyone come in with the photopass pictures like this before, so it was new to him.

Since I'm the photographer in our family, there are very few pictures with me in them, so I always love the photopass for the chance to have it documented that I was at Disneyland, too! :rotfl:

I learned to just upload it as one of your prints...the release that is. They will deduct it from the cost of your prints.
If they update the calendar on weekends our first day shows up tomorrow! Slowly but surely getting there!!

We will be there Feb 28th-March 7th. We are so excited to be heading back to DL! We haven't been since 2012 and DS has not been since Cars Land opened. We are surprising him with the trip and I think he is going to go nuts when he sees Cars Land and rides RSR for the first time! DH and I are disappointed with all of the closures while we are there, but mostly for WoC since it's our favorite of all the Disney nighttime shows. But we are still going to have a great time!

We are surprising our kids too...we are telling them on my youngest's birthday a couple days before we leave. And, Carsland opened right after our last trip so we are so excited to see it!

I think I have finally chosen our hotel...whew, that decision was stressful for me, for some reason!

We have never surprised him with a Disney trip before, and it is really killing me to keep it a secret!! He is my countdown buddy when we are going to Disney. But I think it will be worth it when he realizes where we are. We aren't telling him at all...letting him figure it out when we get to the parks!

Glad you found your hotel. :thumbsup2 We are using some of our Wyndham points to stay at the nearby Dolphin's Cove resort.

Good to know about the photopass, thanks for answering my million questions lol

I love the idea of letting him figure it out! It is killing me not saying anything either, especially to my oldest son who loves to plan as much I do (I could really use his input on our off day). This is our only chance to surprise them so I am grabbing it but I have almost cracked a couple times! And the trip has only been in the works for two weeks, LOL.

My son (7 yrs) knows I'm taking him to DLR, but he doesn't know when we're going. I did tell him how many days we're going because he loves Disneybounding and wanted to know how many outfits he can plan for. (So far he wants to be Pooh, Bruce the Shark, and Lighting McQueen. :)) He also loves planning the trip with me, so every day he asks me if I have any more Disney questions for him, like what food we want to eat, or what characters are on the top of our list to find, or what are the top 5 attractions at each park we want to get to.

But it's killing me not telling him how many days before we go! I want to have a countdown timer on my computer, but I know he'd figure it out if I did that. Some mornings I've almost blurted out "x more days until we go to Disneyland!!!" when I woke him up for school.

I told him that we would pack our suitcases and carry-on bags and leave them in the family room, and then one morning when I wake him up, I'll tell him that we're headed to the airport instead of school/church/errands.

That would be hard to keep it a secret! On our last trip, my kids were too young to know any different, but once my DD was fully awake (we left really early) she got excited.

We may have to change our dates in order to keep it an adults only trip, but thankfully only by a few days. That does mean our trip starts on a weekend instead of weekday so it's already costing a bit more, which is a bummer, BUT I would much rather push it back to the weekend than rearrange our whole trip to accommodate the kids. That sounds bad but I just mean doing things and riding things we missed last time. Plus hubby and I really need the one on one time, so I'm thankful we have a volunteer to take the kids!
But now I have to find a new hotel. Sigh. At least I hadn't booked anything yet.

We are going to the park Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. I originally was thinking lets use our magic morning on Saturday since it will be the busiest day....but now I'm rethinking that strategy because it's probably going to be the day that will be the longest hours. So it's already going to be a really long day. We have Minnie and Friends scheduled for Monday but I'm wondering if we should use our MM that morning (if it's available) or one of the other days. I'm starting to think that Saturday will be plenty long in the park without the extra hour. Thoughts?

In my experience, MM is more worthwhile the earlier the park opens. If regular park opening is at 10am, it's not much trouble for people to get to MM at 9am, and it will still be busy. But if regular park opening is at 8am, there won't be as many people who bother to get up and get going in time for a 7am MM. For this reason, I would go on Saturday.

Having said that, I would not stay in the parks until closing. That really would be a long day! I would go for MM, go back to the hotel mid-afternoon for a break of at least a couple of hours, then head back to the parks in the evening and stay until you're ready to leave. If you'll have 4 days in the parks, there's no need to wear yourselves out on the first day :thumbsup2

I didn't think about it like that! So true! Especially with a saturday I guess the "locals" will sleep in. LOL Not planning to stay all day. We will for sure be going back to the hotel in the afternoon. I think we will stick with Saturday! :)
Thank you!

I thought MM is only offered on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday? That was the schedule even way back on our last trip and it looks to be the same now. We had the same issue, but need to choose between Saturday or Tuesday. I think I have chosen Saturday too...the APs are blocked that day and the park is likely opening at 8 am (it did in 2014). We will just hang til we can't take it anymore and go rest. Return and ride rides, hoping for a Fantasmic dining package but they haven't opened up yet. Tuesday, OTOH, is St. Patrick's Day and has the highest overall crowd level of the trip that day.

Aw, I love that your DS loves Disneybounding! I took my 7-year-old on a trip to WDW this past November, just him and me (all the kids have gotten a mom and me trip), and he had the best time choosing his wardrobe, we ordered lots of custom shirts for every character meal and park. I bet he would love Disneybounding too (and my oldest as well).
