Aw, I love that your DS loves Disneybounding! I took my 7-year-old on a trip to WDW this past November, just him and me (all the kids have gotten a mom and me trip), and he had the best time choosing his wardrobe, we ordered lots of custom shirts for every character meal and park. I bet he would love Disneybounding too (and my oldest as well).

DS heard me talking about it with another friend who loves Disneybounding, too, and we decided we'd wear some of our Disneybounding outfits to lunch one day. He wanted to know what it was, so I showed him pictures online. Now he likes to look at photos of people Disneybounding and guess which characters inspired their outfits! He wants me to coordinate outfits with him, so he will be Pooh and I will be Christopher Robin one day, and then we've got Bruce the Shark and Dory for another day. I'm not sure if we'll manage to match up outfits on any other days of the trip, but we'll see. I told him I'd rather save our money to buy things at DLR than spend it now on clothing to make Disneybounding outfits!

Our trip overlaps February and March (arrive Feb 26th, Parks Feb 27, 28, March 1st, depart March 2nd).

Will be myself and my DD5 for both of us, our first trip to any Disney park ever.

Hi All - Does anyone know why all the Anaheim hotels and motels are booked solid March 5, 6, 7? I can only find a room in Orange or Westminster. It's nuts. I can get a room next week but nothing at that time in March.

There's a huge convention at the Anaheim Convention Center the weekend of the 6-8. Always fills up the hotels in the area.

Well, just booked our room at the Super 8 for March 17-22, so it looks like our March trip is on! We used a special pre-payed rate so no backing out now!

I am probably looking forward to going on the Haunted Mansion the most. We always go in October so it has been a long time since I have seen it without the overlay.

Hotels are slim pickings for our week, too, because there's a cheerleading convention in town. We may have to stay a further down Harbor and take the ART. I can't book yet (waiting for the funds) so who knows what will be available by then...
That's always the hard part for me, too. I like staying close enough to walk but I'm glad there IS the option of taking the ART.

I have the same hope. I decided to risk it and hold out to see if Ebates will do another big cash back offer through Orbitz in February. If they do have the offer I hope it is soon, I hate waiting until the last minute for tickets, but I will feel really dumb if I order them only for a 10-20% rebate offer to come out a day or two later!

These were my exact thoughts today. Our return is supposed to be direct deposited by Friday, but I'm waiting to hear confirmation from my in-laws about watching the kids before I can book, I'm going a little bit crazy lol

Thanks for the suggestion! The Hojo is a little more than I want to pay, though I would love to stay there one day! We're hoping to keep it around $90/night, but unfortunately the closer we get, the slimmer the pickings I most likely will book from Last Minute Travel and every time I decide on a hotel, the next day their discount is gone. sigh.

Now that they are saying the castle may not be done (which originally it was supposed to be) I feel like it kind of is the thing that is breaking the camels back. I REALLY want to go to the parks...but I also think its so unfair to pay the same amount of money now when SO many rides are down, as in the summer when essentially all the rides are up. I don't know what to do now. I'm honestly considering rescheduling, canceling or shortening our trip...

We are coming March 27 to April 3. We are there for one of the cheer competitions March 28-29. I have added days to our trip so we can have some extra Disney magic! I am worried about the castle, the closures, and crowds but will just take it as it is...it's Disney- we'll be in DISNEYLAND again!!

Now that they are saying the castle may not be done (which originally it was supposed to be) I feel like it kind of is the thing that is breaking the camels back. I REALLY want to go to the parks...but I also think its so unfair to pay the same amount of money now when SO many rides are down, as in the summer when essentially all the rides are up. I don't know what to do now. I'm honestly considering rescheduling, canceling or shortening our trip...

What, the castle may not be done March 2? Oh gosh, that stinks. Maybe the only upside is smaller crowds?

We have to go our dates or not go at all. We have air credit that expires in mid-May and my oldest cannot take time off school. On the other hand, we have gotten embroiled in a measles dilemma and that may make us cancel. My middle son has numerous physical issues, his neurologist recommended not vaxing him as he has seizure risk but with the measles outbreak and the fact that he is older/stable, we decided to go forward with an MMR. Unfortunately, I was at a job interview and between my DH and pediatrician, there was a mix up and he was given a TDAP instead. And, just like things go in my life, my DS had an extremely severe reaction to the vaccine including possible seizure (we aren't sure yet, his head pain was so severe he fainted and vomited numerous times). MMR is not possible now, so we either chance it or stay home.

I'm not bothered at all. Disneyland isn't about the 'attractions' for me. It's about the atmosphere. I would quite happily pay my admission fee and just wander around with a churro, people watch, window shop, take lots of photos, and maybe meet a couple of characters and go on a couple of rides. With this style of touring, I would rather deal with a few closures and shorter hours than massive crowds.

Don't get me wrong, I'm disappointed to miss out on WOC and Peter Pan, and that the castle might not be looking its most spectacular. But I'm certainly not going to let it ruin my trip.

Oh Jen that's awful! Your poor son!! I'm so sorry he (and you all) are dealing with that. That would be a hard decision to make

I will be really super bummed if the castle is not done, or still covered, as well as sad to be missing out on all the anniversary goodies now that everything has been announced, but I have been planning a trip with the hubby for over a year (it has changed several times, and we finally decided on DL) so I don't want to cancel, I'm just hoping it won't impact our trip negatively and we can still really enjoy our time there.

I will definitely be disappointed if the castle is covered, but I am looking forward to low crowds and a more relaxed touring style. I know that fewer attractions can mean longer lines, but it looks like the first week in March will have relatively low crowds.

This might seem odd, but the closed attractions mean we have to make fewer decisions. That might not be a problem for everybody, but I overanalyze everything, so it will make it easier for my personality.

Way back in September and October when I was first planning our trip, I was in a panic -- months ahead of time -- trying to figure out how we were going to manage the Anna and Elsa M&G AND ride Peter Pan before the lines got too long. Now PP is closed, and it sounds like it's much easier to meet A&E in their new location. All that worrying was for nothing, which I should have realized even then.

I was really looking forward to seeing my kids' faces when they saw the castle for the first time, but if it's covered, there will be other opportunities for magic (Cars Land, meeting A&E, etc.) throughout the trip.

We are in the same boat. I'm so disappointed! We will not be out on the west coast again any time soon after this trip. So, I'm trying to decide if it will be worth the cost with all of the closures and the castle being covered (could that look any uglier?!) or if we should just skip it and add other activities. I've been so looking forward to finally seeing Disneyland.

I love your attitude! What a great perspective! I'm going to try really really hard to think positively about it all...and if that doesn't work we will alter our plans!
