March 6th Magic Trip - Photos added now

Good to meet you EmmasGrammy. You are famous.
We went to Typhoon Lagoon and was telling the ladies in our group to make sure their swimsuits were done up and then related your "adventure" :)

Thanks for sharing your tale :)

Cheers,
Grumbo

Thanks for sharing your wonderful adventures Grumbo. We were on the 2/7/04 Eastern Magic for the 2nd time and I enjoy reading other's perspective of this itinerary.

Was Deepak that you met Gemma with in St Maarten a head server from the dining room? We had him on our July 2002 cruise and requested him for our last one but he was still on vacation.

Deepak was a server. He just got back from holidays. Do you mean the head server that goes around from table to table or the server with an assistant that is a part of your team?
If your "server" I'm sure it was. Natdencro would know more about Deepak though.

There is a photo of Deepak at http://www.wdwinfo.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=3911

Cheers,
Grumbo

natdencro -

Congratulations on Gemma being promoted to Palo! That's teriffic. Our assistant server, Annie-Marie from South Africa (I think) interviewed for a position in Palo. I wonder if she got it.

edited to add: Try the escargot next time. It is amazing! I never thought I could eat it either but I tried it and I loved it.

Thanks Grumbo.....that's him, glad to know he is still on the Magic and has a girlfriend :lovestruc :scratchin ?

So, Ellen is not going to be on the ship this summer? She is a great gal and one of the only ones who was on both of my 7day cruises!

Hi Grumbo,
I was on the March 6th, too. Sorry we didn't get to meet everyone! I enjoyed reading your trip report! I haven't even attempted to do one! My brain is still on the Magic! I sure am having a hard time adjusting back to the "real world".

Hi Natdencro,
I was one of the dis-girls in the line. I second your remarks about the escargot. My friend tried it and I had to look away!:earseek: Sorry you couldn't find us on Sunday. I guess the next time we will have to plan better. I wore my green paint chip on Saturday, then forgot it the rest of the week. It kept sliding out of the little plastic holder that I had it in. Guess I should have used that "duct tape"!

It is wierd how you can go all week and not see the same people again. Although I did keep running into Kimnicki, Sultan, Mickey (1/2 of MickeyandTink), and Plano4. We must have all been thinking alike!

Grumbo,

I have spoken to Capt. Jim at Jester Sailing and I have couple of questions for you. Did you do the 10-4 full day sail or did you make your own times? If you did the full day what time did you get back to the ship? Did that leave you any time for shopping in St. Thomas?

Thanks for your help......

Denise:teeth:

Hi Denise:

Yes we did the full day. We made our own times though. We were at the boat by 9:10 am. We got back to the Radisson, where he docks by 2:50 pm, caught the cab and was back to town and on the tender by 4:00 pm. The cab trip is really only a 20 - 30 minute drive normally but as I mentioned it is a zoo when all the cruise ships are docked.
We could have shopped downtown for 30 minutes in the area around the dock, but didn't bother. The ladies were very "tempted" but as I had exagerrated and told them the last tender was 4:00 pm they figured they didn't have time :p

He has increased his prices from when we booked also I see. It has increased $50.00 from what we paid.

As I mentioned it is not cheap, but it if you have a full crew of people it is GREAT and was probably the highlight of our trip.

Cheers,
Grumbo

We only have 4 but I was thinking about getting the whole boat...hey whats another $120 bucks, right?? Mainly because I was concerned about getting back in at 4 and having to make it back by 4:30 (for the last tender, that is the correct time, right?) But the day isn't really 6 hours, right?? I guess it depends on the wind how fast you get back to St. Thomas. I will double check with Capt. Jim and get his opinion. Do you recall how much time you spent getting to the different stops on the trip and how much time you spent there?

Thanks again for all your info.

Denise

I think the trip over and back was about 45 - 60 minutes each way, and we probably spent 2 1/2 - 3 hours at the beach.
I didn't take my watch with me, and the only thing I was truly concerned about was being back to the dock by around 2:45 pm.
I talked to Captain Jim about the time I wanted to be back to the ship and he knew what the time span would be and it worked fine.
I think the whole day worked out to around 5 1/2 hours in total.
You'll have time to shop if you do the times I used. We were just tired and ready to get back to the ship. Well me and the kids. My wife can shop anywhere, anytime :)

Cheers,
Grumbo

So what time did you leave the ship? Dis you have to tender in or were you at the dock? Were your arrangements with Capt. Jim that you would leave when you arrived at his boat?

How many kids do you have?

Four adults, two children 10 and 12 years old.
We had to tender (as per the trip report) and we could have been off the boat earlier but we had a LOT of miscommunication within our own group.
The BEST tip I can give is to get to the immigration EARLY and have your stuff ready to take with you so you can go over to get your tender tickets. I went over but you needed to leave immediately and as we had split up and I couldn't find half the group we couldn't leave right away.
We were off the boat and onshore by 8:50 am and at the sailboat by 9:10 am.

Cheers,
Grumbo

We are on one of the special itineraries in August so our first stop is St. Thomas so I don't think that we will have to do immigration in the AM.

Thanks again for all your help....This excursion will definitely be the highlight of my cruise. I amy never come home!!

Greetings from cold, damp UK again! Oh to be back in the Caribbean!

Ellen from Australia is due to be on vacation shortly, but at present, Im not sure she is returning to the ship. She is great at the job, so Im sure everyone will want her back!

Deepak is indeed a server on the Magic, but not - as yet, a Head Server! We all think he should be, so please Mr. Disney/Mickey Mouse............. take note!

Thanks to those who send best wishes to Gemma in Palo now. She loves it - although it does mean not seeing so much of her "man"!

And to those great girls I met in the Port Terminal (Green Mickey stickers) - Im so VERY sorry I never met up with you again. We tried so hard to find you all week. Would have been great to chat to you all again at length! Maybe next year? I wish! Nat
