March 13th 2011 Fiesta time on the Wonder!

For those looking for airfare, American rates between Dallas and Los Angeles have gone down by amost half what they were last week. So, if you've been waiting, you might want to go take another look. Perhaps we are in that booking window where prices go to their lowest without a big price war.

Well good luck then! I hope you get them as you ordered them.

I really was pleased with the quality of the work, so I was disappointed to see others might not get to try it.

Grrrrr.... well I called and apparently it was not shipped. The order was cancelled. Don't know how I received an email saying that it was sent out. Oh well.:confused3
Maybe I will see you on the cruise, and I will be the one smiling at you in your cool purple shirts! haha!:)

Thanks for posting that link though!
I think I might use them for my son's birthday! He wants party shirts for his friends.
I will wait to make sure they refund my money first!

Big BOO on them!

I am so sorry it did not work out. I feel real guilty now!

You can always create your own transfers - I did consider that avenue in my search - lots of how tos on the DIS boards to help you accomplish it.

Just paid off this cruise and looking to book a post cruise stay at DL with the exchange rate being so great right now. Haven't been there for quite a few years. Any suggestions for nearby accomadations?

We were able to order t-shirts for our last cruise with the Mickey Mouse Club logo on them through Zazzle .com-this may be an option. If you live in Canada there is a Zazzle .ca, but the shirts weren't available on that site.

I'm not really sure about the level of paranoia regarding Mexico violence.

98% of the violence is along the US/Mexico border, and the rest appears to be south, down by Acapulco.

The Car Wash thing was about 4 hours from PV, and about 5 from Mazatlan. Unless you're driving between the two, you won't come anywhere near it.

We drove to PV from Arizona last year and didn't see one single beheading, or axe murder, or anything. And yet, every news story before we left was about the danger in Mexico. You're more likely to be robbed by common bandits than you are to be shot in the middle of a drug gang shootout. Use your brains, don't go off the "tourist track."

Although, if a lot of people are afraid to get off the boat in port, that will leave more excursion choices for use to pick from.

Sad news to report. I've had to cancel this cruise do to finances. My dh just got a huge cut in pay and we've had a ton of medical expenses come up. It just breaks my heart. It was going to be our first time bringing the kids with us. So sad. Thought you should know since we were on the FE list. bummer.

So sorry you are canceling!! I am so sorry to hear about the pay cut also. I hope things get better soon!!

My 2 cents about the violence in Mexico........
Friends, international travel in any form, is to some degree dangerous. You have to use common sense and don't put yourself into questionable situations. These communities are not going to bite the hands that feed them!! They will do everything in their power to keep the tourist areas safe. If they are having trouble keeping the peace, I don't think Disney is going to put us out somewhere that is extremely dangerous. If you are worried about going on excursions, wait until you get on the ship to book, and book through Disney! It is more expensive, but will most likely be the safest option. If there are issues, Disney will cancel or won't offer anything that isn't safe. I have an idea of what excursions we want to do, but I think we will wait until we get on the ship to book them. Also, the people who do the shopping seminars really do know what they are talking about. They will be able to tell you where the best & safest places are to shop!! When you get off the ship, go with a group and stay together!!

I agree with Big Red...I traveled to Egypt, with just another female. It happened to be during a big blow up in the Gaza strip, and I admit it freaked me out a little, even though we weren't going towards that side of Egypt.

A few weeks after I was there, there was a bomb that went off in the ancient souk market that I had shopped in during my trip. It was truly disturbing to me, obviously, and very sad as it was such a remarkable place (and has recovered since).

However, we felt safe. We stayed with others, we stayed very alert, we didn't make eye contact with the locals, and I thoroughly researched our guides and tour companies and hotels. There wasn't one time that I felt unsafe or scared, and I think it was because of planning and research. We stayed in very tourist areas and didn't wander off. In fact, even during the souk shopping, we hired a guide, which isn't usual.

World travel always has some level of risk. But not just World travel. We were in Indianapolis for a cheer competition and just about got held hostage by a cab driver and later walked accidentally in the middle of what looked like a gang fight episode of Cops just entering the huge mall that connected to the cheer competition. I felt more unsafe on that trip that I did in Egypt, which is just a short distance from Iraq!

I have also felt more threatened in Nassau by the hair braiding and taxi people than the people in the souks of Egypt or Tunisia. All were annoying but I felt more of a threatening vibe in Nassau, several times. Still heading there next week:).

I'm not going to allow fear to keep me or the kids from experiencing the World...it is too beautiful and exciting! I'm careful, though, and always thoroughly research, and am very alert throughout.

Scary!! :scared1: Been there done that! :) I have never been swayed by fear when I travel on my own with adults...traveled to Scotland a month after Lockerbie catastrophe...our flights were booked to travel on 9/12 (day after 9/11/2001) for Orlando for a week stay at Disneyworld...we moved our dates to the second day after flights were reopened around 9/20...amazing trip, we met so many Englanders who were stranded and the parks were sooo empty. Stayed in London while there were 5-6 bombs in the underground...I remember having been out late and sitting in the underground waiting, then everyone scatters (RUNNING!) I figured they had realized the trains were switching platforms..so we're asking everyone zooming by and they said "Bomb Scare"...we took the bus back to our flat....

I really can handle it! :) But, the main difference is I'm traveling now with 2 nieces and our own three children...this changes my perception immensely. If it were just my own children, we'd likely go ahead and book excursions, but being responsible for extra children..my wary button goes sky high...so we'll just wait and see and probably just do like Big Red says and book on the ship or just take a water taxi to stone island to enjoy the beaches...

Hoping there's a great big improvement by March! And I'll be reading the prior sailing trip reports very closely! :)

Can't wait to go, really!!! :)

Tara

The niece thing would be a big factor, because you are responsible for someone else's child!

WOW! I've got a LOT of catching up to do! I'm trying to figure out excursions (does anyone have a link to possible DCL excursions? I've been looking and looking, and just have had no luck!)

ALSO - I noticed a few pages back that there was some concern about the facebook group being open. I just wanted to let you all know that I have now closed the group. It can be found, but all members must be approved, and posts can not be viewed. I hope that will help add security and privacy to each of us.l

interesting article....I hope the link works!! It is about a cruise ship fire on a CCL ship cruising the MR!! They were refunded their trip costs, plus more!!

I would hate for it to happen, but if I could sail again at their cost...well, I think I would be happy!!!

I heard about this on the radio!! They said they had NO electricity, No hot water, and just only got the toilets running again...hoping it's not unbearably hot and they get towed back to shore soon! How would they even transport 4000 travelers? Hoping they can get the engine fixed! Some stories they'll have! :)

I saw this earlier today, and it occurred to me  that any of us that have Cruise Critic accounts could log in and :surfweb: check out some of the Carnival Mexican Riviera threads and see what they are saying about the security issues. Anyone have a Cruise Critic account?? :rolleyes1

I do!! I like reading the things they say. They aren't as quick to respond to a question as the DIS boards are!!!

Wow, how awful!

We were on the Feb Magic sailing this year that was stuck at Castaway Cay. I thought we had it bad!!! Nothing compared to what they are going through.
Disney handled everything so well (IMHO). Only thing that was messed up for us was our flight home, but Jet Blue took care of it, no charge. We were treated so well on the ship. I really feel for those people. No power or toilets!
Yikes! I can't imagine ....
