March 10, 2012 - Eastern on the Magic

500..... No probs! We should be there by Sunday!

Ok I started to pull out clothes for suitcases. Anyone else or am I the only obsessive planner/packer on here.......something tells me I am not the only one.

DH wil pack the night before we head out, or even the morning of.

He thinks I am nuts being on here all the time. He just didn't understand my love of the DIS. :lovestruc

I am looking forward to meeting everyone Saturday @3:00!

Anyone wearing matching " family" Tshirts? Or homemade shirts?

We use to, but my teenagers refuse to now....:sad2: I really miss that.

Little do they know that I packed WHITE Tshirts for all of us( even though they are not Disney, or exactly alike) for our port arrival!!!!
we will at least be in the same colour! It's the best I could do.

I love seeing families in their " matching" outfits!

OK, I'm in for 500 posts, because I was thinking the same thing about LongGone! I thought you had skipped out on us, but glad you are back!

Thank you! We have had some job issues the past 18 months. They are, thankfully, resolved. We are looking forward to this cruise. I should be able to get to the cruise meet.

My DH is finally indulging my matching shirts wish since it's my bday. We compromised on the shirt...let's just say we are HUGE fans of Perry the Platypus.

Oh, and here's the challenge folks! We have to hit 500 posts before we cruise, and keep this thread on the first page of all the meets! Who's in? :cool1:

Did we make it yet? I'm sure I can think of a million more questions to get us to 500.

Sooo excited. Worked on my FE gifts and finishing up the actual FE. My DS keeps trying to steal the gifts for himself. :rotfl:

Only 500? We've barely started!

I soooo need this vacation - recovering from eye surgery and I am miserable right now.

Oh my, so sorry to hear you're not feeling well. But at least the surgery is behind you and you're on the mend. You're probably lookin' stylin' in cool shades right now, too, just to get ready for the Caribbean!

I confess we're not really the matching shirt type of family (though I like the sneaky white t-shirt trick). But this morning we had our pancakes shaped like Mickey!

Off to dance rehearsal, where I have to learn how to put false eyelashes on DD! :scared1:

We are almost packed!!! :cool1: We're headed out to do some shopping today for those things that we still need, and hopefully by tomorrow we'll be done with the packing! (well, after the shopping and a bit of :laundy: )

I confess, I'm not usually this motivated to pack, but with moving apartments at the end of March, there's extra motivation to make sure all our cruise stuff is in the suitcases before it ends up in moving boxes! :scared1:

As far as matching shirts, we have done the matching shirts before at WDW, but we will not be bringing any for the cruise... but we will have a fair amount of Disney shirts with us! :yay:

I am always a night before type packer but this time I started a week ago so I can repack and eliminate stuff over time.. I have to travel lighter then usual because I don't have another adult to help me and I always seem to bring everything but the kitchen sink haha

I don't think I've ever seen anyone give advice where they said to pack MORE.:lmao: We've only done the one cruise, but it seemed like we had a lot more stuff than we needed

Who is signing up for alcohol tastings??? Which ones are you interested in if you are. I want to do the wine for sure, cognac perhaps, not a fan of tequilla but I do love margaritas, martini would be cool, I love beer but not sure if I will do that one....oh ya just 49 posts left to go!

Can you please email me another updated list of the participants for the FE; I accidentaly deleted the last one. Thank you

Question for you all. I am trying to put together the FE stuff and noticed on the list there are three families that we have no info on. Are we still including them in the FE? Let me know your thoughts.

Hi, this is our first cruise EVER but it's so overwhelming!! I've been skimming through the threads and noticed a lot of people coming from Ontario! We are going with our kids 5 & 7

what excursions are people going on? all of the disney port adventures, massages & paulos dinner have been sold out for some time which is annoying. I feel like I'm missing something/lots of things!

Any tips?!!

Does anyone have the second dining option? I had a chance to switch to the early because I booked a little while ago but chose not to
hi we have the later dining option and would love to switch as we normally eat early at home, do you still want to change?

Could somebody post again about where the meet is, I read 3:00 pm Prom. deck but is that Saturday? and where on the deck?

Just watched the Magic leave on her Eastern cruise. Two weeks before ours:cool1: We always catch the Port Canaveral web cam provided by Fish Lips restaurant.

Cell phone service, I can't remember if my husband had it in St. Martin or not, but he did in Curacao a few years back and I think Aruba too and those are Dutch islands so I am guessing he did. We are on Verizon. I remember he had some business calls to make and he got a lot of Happy Birthday calls that day. We have never had issues on St. Thomas. So Verizon works, I am also sure of roaming charges apply.

I fly out on March 5th to our Florida home. My son, his wife and little grand daughter will be arriving at our home Sat. March 3. If I wanted to see them I have to go early. Guess who gets to bring down all the luggage for the cruise! At least it will really be only the dress clothes and my DH's Tommy Bahama shirts. The other vacation clothing is already at the house.

DH is flying down on Thursday March 8th. He misses the grand daughter, they have to drive back to Atlanta on Thursday :(. I will be packing for the cruise Thursday and Friday. We decided not to drive to the port. We have early dining which means we will have to be in the dinning room on debarkation day at 6:00 am for the send off breakfast. We decided to let somebody else do the driving back to the house.

We fly back to West Des Moines, on Monday the 19. I hope it warms back up down there. When we left on Feb. 13 it was so cold on our last day down there and since we have been back, it has been hot until yesterday and today. I noticed people on the Magic had long pants on and coats. It was 62 there at the time of sailing. With the wind and humidity, that is cold for down there.

Our daughter is doing the Disney College Program and lets us know how hot it is. Oh please, it snowed Thursday! Hopefully she can still go with us on the cruise. Since she started late she didn't get the time off. She can ask for people to pick up her shifts, we shall see if that happens.

If you stop by the parks before the cruise, she is working at Tower of Terror in the gift shop, Rock'n Roller Coaster in the gift shop, and Fantasmic. Her name is Stephanie and her college is Iowa State University.

Don't forget to check out the port web cam. We have been watching the ships leave almost every day. It is surprising the number of cruise ships that use the port as a port stop. The cam is located at Fish Lips. Never have ate there yet, but probably will. Our boat is at Blue Points Marina. From what we have been told all of the restaurants in the port are great.

Kathy, that is very cool about your daughter in the Disney College program. I'd love to hear more about it, and do indeed hope she can make the ship.

The meet is at 3pm in the Promenade Lounge.

See you there!

DH will be doing some tastings, I'm sure. He'll do wine for sure and likely beer. Those are his favs, maybe others...

Hi and :welcome: to the cruise! I don't think you need to worry too much about not booking ahead of time. From what I understand, there are spots left open for people to book onboard. Now that you know what you want, you should book as soon as possible once on board. There will also be cancellations as we get closer - I know I'm cancelling our exotic rasule for sure since it has such poor reviews :(

We are signed up for the 12m Regatta in St Maarten and a Beach Bash afterwards. In St Thomas we are doing the Turtle Cove Snorkel and Honeymoon Beach. I'm not sure if they reserve some excursion spots for booking onboard, but would suggest you try asap, and ask to be put on a waiting list. There are soooo many to choose from, you will not be disappointed.

Come find us at the meet - 3pm Promenade Lounge!
