Marathon Weekend (January 2018), torn between Beach Club or Polynesian.

Our last trip to Disney was in February 2016. We spent 5 amazing nights in a standard view room at the Polynesian but had a lagoon/grand Floridian view.

We loved the food options, the pineapple alcohol drinks, monorail, dole whips, view of fireworks and the tropical feel of the resort. 6 year old also loved the daybed.

We have 2 kids (6 and 4) and will be bringing my parents this time around. We will be staying 8 nights. Do not want to do a split stay.

Our travel agent offered great rates for Polynesian but even better rates for the Beach Club. Beach club is about 16% cheaper than the Poly. Ends up being a good chunk of change.

We like the idea of being able to walk to Epcot but with January weather we may not get much if anytime at the pool. I don't know much about Beach Club, but seems like a pretty standard hotel to what I have around me at home (coastal New England).

I'm leaning towards Poly but wouldn't mind saving some money if Beach Club was just as good.

Any opinions?

OMG!!! I have to laugh! Every year we spend Marathon weekend at the Poly! This is the first year I booked the Beach Club for a change! (we must have the same rate!!)

I need a break from the Poly. My main gripe is the gym. I need a treadmill, and it is IMPOSSIBLE to get one with GF, the Villas and the Poly all sharing one gym. Another pet peeve is there is no where to shower there! I have to take the long trek in wet clothes after my run back to the room at the Poly. I've complained about this many times. I've even went into the spa to ask to change my wet shirt for the walk back in the cold (very early morning in Jan). I was met with an icy response. A girl was called to walk me to the changing area, and wait while I changed my shirt. Just can't deal with that stress....

We are staying at GF in September post our Disney cruise, but I am assuming the resort and gym will be less crowded. It will also be warm enough to run outside.

anyway, this Marathon weekend, we are at Beach Club!

BTW.. your kids will love Beaches and Cream and the pool (hopefully, it will be warm enough to use!!!)
