Marathon Weekend 2026

SAFD: I have always costumed or at least worn a character t-shirt for every runDisney race, but I'm a little burned out on it frankly and not sure I will this time. I'm running with someone who is distinctly not a Disney guy and he has played along twice already in group costuming with me but if he's not into it this time, I probably won't. It is fun to see everybody else though! Definitely adds to the fun of the experience.

SAFD: I didn't costume when I first did rD back in 2009 and 2011, and then for my return to running in 2022 I really embraced the costuming and had a lot of fun with it.
I know what "bounding" is, but if I'm going to do a character, I want to do it with as much fidelity as possible, so my costumes have reflected that. When I did Deadpool, I even had a mask that I wanted to wear, but it was too impractical, not to mention frowned upon by Dis, so I just wore my Deadpool baseball cap. But gloves and props? Oh yeah.
This year? I'd like to for the half, unsure about the full. I still haven't started on a costume yet, which is problematic. I've been focused on other priorities, and other than weekday training, just haven't started to get myself mentally spooled up for MW 2026 yet.
In my defense, I've been focused on getting one of my little airplanes signed off for flight.

SAFD: I love wearing costumes for Disney races. So far my plan is:
5k: Alien onesie (the aliens from toy story) for the 5k space theme
10k: Purple jumpsuit to be Gadget Hackwrench to go with chip and dale - also planning to make a giant wrench out of foam
Half: The idea in my head right now is to dress as a mighty duck - for Donald and Goofy's storybook seems to be sports comedy
Full: No idea yet but probably Dopey themed in some way

SAFD: I am also not a costume person. I am a hot sweaty mess when I run so I can’t even imagine having more on than I have to. I am always in awe of the people who go all out with them though!
Me too!!! I’m overstimulated with what little I have. Can’t imagine running in some of those costumes. I love looking at them though! Super fun to spectate!

SAFD: I’m more of a bounding girl. Partly because extra things just overstimulate me so much it adds to much mental fatigue. And partly due to expense. My other RD races, with the exception of a few cheaper costume items that pulled an outfit together, I don’t buy anything I won’t wear on a normal run/race/errands, etc. I can justify the expense to DH that way.

For the marathon though…I am doing classic Minnie. I know it’s not very original/creative but I was flipping through inspiration pics with my dad and he absolutely lit up when he saw a minnie outfit. He had a stroke a couple of years ago, which has altered a lot about his personality. The fact the Minnie costume had him smiling from ear to ear and everything else I showed him was an empty stare, it solidified it for me. Minnie it is; for my dad!🥰

Goodness, must be some dust in here getting in my eyes.....

SAFD: Had never done a costume until last year's 10k Group Costume and that was lots of fun. I do want to start getting a little more creative with my rD runs but haven't come up with anything yet for this year - mostly as I still havent' really been focused on MW.

I am thinking if I do anything this year it will be more bounding for the half. For the full I'll want to stay as close to what I'd normally wear for a run as possible.

If I do 2027 I'm going to have to start thinking about it right from registration.

I am still bummed that it was so cold and most of us kept our cold-weather layers on.
