Marathon Weekend 2026

I very much appreciate the flexibility on dress code at Disney World's "fine dining" restaurants.

In contrast, I still remember being laughed at by both a host and a manager at Disneyland Paris' Yacht Club for wanting to dine at my hotel restaurant directly after the Disneyland Paris 5k. I was wearing a pair of dark grey zip-off pants that I've worn to California Grill, and the 5k race shirt. If a theme park restaurant demonstrates that they don't want my business, I'm happy to oblige and spend my money elsewhere.

The trick is they are still closed on Sundays and Mondays, which has been the case since they reopened after the pandemic

This is the reason I have had issues going back. I want to, but we leave on Tuesday after the races, so I can't get back in after DW crosses that last finish line.

If only they were closed Monday and Tuesday.

Love HBD, Tiffins, and Cali Grill. We actually hosted DS and DDIL’s rehearsal dinner in the Napa Room at Cali Grill and had like 8 courses and it was great, but I felt that a good bit of the $$$$$ per person was, not so much the food, but the wine selections. And the prix fixe prices don’t allow any difference between wine and water drinkers.
Got some “food for thought” from several of you, though. E.g. I actually did not know that there were any non-alcoholic drink pairings. Thanks, although I am not sure I could sit at any table for four hours!
Not only does V&A have non-alcoholic drink pairings, they offer a water menu (or at least they used to) where you can choose bottled water from a number of different countries and sources. We did this once or twice just to have something besides the typical Evian or whatever the standard water they offer is. I know it sounds crazy, but the water from the Scottish distilleries and from the Croatian lakes really do taste different. And as mentioned above, you don't need to sit there for four hours straight. They're more than happy to let you take a break and go wander around the hotel to stretch your legs, give your stomach a break, etc.

@Disney at Heart I'm not sure how to convince you to go there or to Takumi-Tei. Like many others have said, they're both amazing experiences with incredible food and impeccable service. Are they worth the money? I certainly think so, especially if you want to go celebrate something like an anniversary or a first marathon or Dopey.

Well, potentially some good news today. I haven't been able to run since a badly strained hamstring led to a DNF of the MW marathon ~10 weeks ago. After a lot of rest, light walking and stretching/strengthening exercises, I've gotten the green light from my PT to start easing back into running this weekend. There's a good deal of anxiety and reluctance to trust the leg at this point, so fingers crossed it goes well.

Good luck! Injuries are the worst. You'll be back up to speed before you know it.

That is great to hear! It is always nerve racking when you first start back up post injury, but trust in your PT and the plan and you will be out crushing ultras again before you know it!

Random question, but has anyone ever put together a beer mile after the marathon either around the boardwalk (high traffic area could be a issue) or the running path around the lake at Pop / AoA (Havent been around that area since the skyliner was installed... not sure if that would work either now). Just curious who out there would want to add another mile to their day on the Sunday or if this has been tried with not great results?

Pretty sure my body would murder me if I tried to do a beer mile right after a marathon 🤣

After the marathon, I couldn't even imagine trying to restart my legs back up, even for a not so serious run. Usually at that time I am contemplating why I didn't rent a lark for that day in the parks.

I like the concept - but rather than a beer mile, it would be a literal pub crawl for me - emphasis on crawl.

I think DATW on Monday is more my speed.

Good afternoon RunDisney All-Stars! Sundays are for Disney (SAFD) is back with the results of the March Magical Dining Madness Final Four and your championship showdown! Unfortunately, Ronto Roasters' Cinderella run was put to the baguette by Les Halles in crushing fashion. In the other semi-final, the battle of the Canteens was nip and tuck all the way with Skipper's Canteen pulling out a literal buzzer-beater, edging Satu'li Canteen by a single point with the last vote cast.

Les Halles 24 - 9 Ronto Roasters
Skipper's Canteen 17 - 16 Satu'li Canteen

This week, you All-Stars choose your champion! Will Les Halles' Napoleon's meet their Waterloo at the back side of water as Skipper's Canteen [Jungle] Cruises past them? Or will Skipper's Canteen be sunk by a raging mousse from Les Halles? You get to decide!!! As always, voting will be open through the end of Friday, with the champion being crowned this time next Sunday.

Skipper Canteen was third in my MK voting, much more for theming and WDW at least trying to do a quality table service in MK than the actual meals I’ve had there, but would barely have scratched an honorable mention at other parks.

I said it was my number 1 overall seed for the parks and my vote is for Les Halles. On a given day, there are restaurants I would rather eat at on the Disney properties (in Disney Springs and Resorts); but for what they are going for with the location along with the quality and variety of offerings it is definitely my favorite place in the parks. As I mentioned in previous posts, it is perhaps the only place that I stop at every single time I’m in Epcot regardless of what festivals are going on and what other food plans I have. I know the lines and lack of seating are a turn off now that it’s popularity has gone off the charts; but I’m going to choose to continue to like my little punk band I knew of back when they were playing house gigs for 20 people rather than punish them for their success 😆.

SAFD: I was worried we could end up with two finalists I’ve never been to before but in this case I can make a choice between the 2.

Easy vote for me for Skipper Canteen. It’s one of the few repeat table service restaurants I’ll go to in MK. The CMs are amazing, the theming is fantastic - I’m always discovering something new each time we go. And I’ve always enjoyed the food as well.
