Marathon Weekend 2025

I am sitting on a room at Pop but have the Dolphin booked also and that is really where we are going to stay most likely. I just got the call to switch to POR. I asked if they will have food available at 3am before the race as Pop has had sometimes in the past. She checked and said No, so we are sticking with Pop for now (which we will most likely cancel soon anyway).

I've been stalking Swolphin, but they only have rooms available for part of my stay. Also wondering if Marriott will have any good Black Friday deals. Meanwhile I also have 2 offsite rooms booked, but will be cancelling those. My trip over W&D (at Dolphin) made me realize that without early entry at the parks, it requires paying for LLMP to have any chance of getting to do a reasonable number of attraction. I know it's stupid not to, but I just won't go there (yet). Plus, I guess I do like the "Disney Bubble"

SAFD: I've never run in a costume. I would love to plan one but it's so difficult because we've had every kind of weather possible at marathon weekend! I never know far in advance if I need to order a tank or long sleeves, a skirt or leggings.... it stresses me out so I just wear my normal running clothes
All of these concerns you just build into the costume and what you know you can tolerate. This past MW I wore a tank with a thin long sleeve underneath. At my first bathroom stop I ditched the long sleeve. Or you buy arm sleeves that match your outfit, or just cut the toe off a pair of socks and use those as a throw away arm warmer!

2 years ago I wore cropped leggings *over* shorts, and all under a skirt. And when I made a bathroom stop in AK I took the leggings off and tied them to my belt at my back (and then later handed them off to DH in Epcot where I traded him disgusting sweaty leggings for a donut 😂)

Or I just wear a throw away layer for the beginning and shed it (usually on the highway to MK) near a mile marker.

Well things just got a bit more real for wheels. Emails for push rims and handcycles are out. I thought they were early but then realized nope were right on time I just forgot that were almost at the end of November.

This is us confirming our status as wheels and what devices we will be using. Along with providing estimated finish time. Will be curious if I have to do the same for Springtime since I have the POT for that.

@SheHulk (Chromes being weird about quoting for some reason.) I've stayed at both Port Orleans before switching to Pop for the Skyliner. I can't remember if they have 3 am food. But they do sell that food bundle the night before I remember.

Yeah when the CM checked about AM food for me, she mentioned the bundle. But I like to get a hot coffee in the morning. It's really neither here nor there because I'm probably giving up the Pop room anyway.

They put a damn box there?!!? Well, it will make it a bit easier to hold on to it when I climb up to put the sign. :)
I totally haven't started looking through YT videos from last year to see if anyone has a POV walking into the reunion area in the morning where you can see our group and the sign. :rolleyes1

So far I have found this video, at about 2:00-2:04, you can see the sign on the lightpole between the yellow foodtruck with wings on it, and the blue food truck. Further back from there, you can see the gear check trucks.

SAFD: I was never really a costume person until I joined my running group. Last year during Dopey I dressed up for the 5K as one of the three fairies from Sleeping Beauty (I asked my friend who was coordinating to just assign me a color and of course I got pink 🤣 ). It was super fun.

This year, that same group HAD ALREADY PLANNED TO BE DALMATIANS for the 5K before Rise and Run said that was their plan (and already had the costumes purchased including polka dot tutus and ears and a tail complete with t-shirt that says "Pretend I'm a Dalmatian"), so it's mildly annoying that everyone will think we just piggy-backed onto the Rise and Run group. But oh well, we'll still make it fun. For the 10K, we are basically Disney bounding as Minnie, complete with red and black polka dot tutu (I now have three tutus, which is three more than I owned a year ago 🤣), black tank tops and Minnie ears. So if you see a stocky 40-year old man with a beard running around in a tutu for the 5K and 10K, mind ya business. Lol. A member of the group is also coordinating an Aristocats group costume for the half marathon, but I draw the line at dressing up past the 10K. Especially during Dopey, I am focused on running and comfort for the half and full. I will wear various variations my running group's singlet for the half and full (look for Crail's Running Company!).

Or you buy arm sleeves that match your outfit,

For me, arm sleeves were a game changer. Back in January, before the Disneyland races, I bought a set with a bunch of different colors from Amazon and they were amazing. There is a color combination that matches almost anything and, once I get warmed up, are super simple to pull off and tie onto my running belt. I've been hanging around runDisney groups for years and I couldn't believe that these aren't recommended more often.

And for my SAFD:

I've just dipped my toe into costumes. I bought a Sleeping Beauty for the DL races in January, but wound up not wearing it as it didn't fit quite right (I got it altered and then wore it for the Springtime 5K). And I'm going to be a Rise and Run puppy for this year's MW 5K. Most of the time, I just go with athletic shirts with Disney related designs and quotes on them.

Hey peeps that ran W&D....were the food trucks by our lightpole again like they were during MW? I'm in the mental plotting stage for Billy's "DIS'ers Master Guide to MW" and it seems like there's still a little confusion about where we meet in the mornings (at least for those that haven't joined a morning meetup every, or maybe some lurkers who might decide to not lurk.)
