Marathon Weekend 2023

OMG, I live in Carrollton and I train on those trails! What are the odds? Haha. I usually do a back-and-forth on a strip of the blue trail that dead ends at McCoy so I can stash water and Gatorade there for my long runs.

You mean this strip?

Now if I ever see a stashed water bottle, I'll have to steal it. 😅

I usually head north up to Hebron, but I do go west toward Old Denton or Dickerson a few times a week. I usually do my speed work on that stretch, since it's relatively flat. We've almost certainly seen each other out there at some point.

DM me if you ever want to meet up for a run!

That's the strip! I may or may not also choose it because it's mostly flat....

I agree we had to have crossed paths (literally) at some point. I'll DM you!

So do you guys think we will have to be on the look out this MW for the citrus mist out of the Orange Bird? Hopefully if it's back, they tune it down. That was an unpleasant surprise when running by Orange Bird and inhaling what I imagine drinking perfume or rubbing alcohol tastes like. LOL.
I’m hopeful that is gone. I happened to run into a someone involved with the runDisney stuff and he casually asked me about the race, etc. We probably talked 20 minutes. FWIR, he was an older gentleman with many years of racing and course involvement under his belt. I specifically mentioned the orange bird and that I heard a couple others around me gagging a bit. He was super nice.

It's been so interesting to read everyone's preferences for hot/cold and wwos/bb. I haven't gone through and categorized everyone's responses but I am curious if there's any correlation. 🤔

As for me, I'm team WWOS. The one time I ran through there, there was a surprise at every turn which definitely made it more interesting than all those road miles. Plus, that course took us to the AK parking lot which I know doesn't sound exciting but it provides another relatively easy spectator spot that doesn't require a ticket.

I haven't run the bb course yet, so my opinion may change 😆
It's rather funny how we have completely opposite experiences. I'm excited to have the WWoS experience because of the stadium et al. Nonetheless, someone else hit the nail on the head in that the Blizzard Beach parking lot tour was terrible because it felt like you were running rather useless miles. I suppose that it would have been different if we entered into Blizzard Beach, but I hated going into the parking lot only to turn around and head back the way.

I hated WWoS the first year I did it, because 1. I didn't realize how long we'd be in there and it felt like it was never-ending, and 2. There was nothing really going on, entertainment-wise. It got better once I knew what to expect going into it, distance-wise (2ish miles of twists and turns through the complex, I think?) and once they added character stops in later years. And I saw someone point out that it's an opportunity for real bathrooms on the course, which is always a good thing!

Hi guys, not sure if this would be the place to write this, but I'm signed up for the Goofy challenge for this coming Marathon Weekend 2023 but I can't make it that weekend due to a conflict of scheduling. I'm so bummed. So I was wondering if anyone would be interested in taking my bib off of my hands. If interested, please contact me and send me an offer and we'll work out the details. Thanks.
Bibs cannot be transferred

I am afraid that there is the possibility of getting up to Disney late on Friday after the Expo closes. Does anyone know what the protocol is to hopefully pick up one's bib before the half marathon begins on Saturday morning?

Historically, there has been a runner relations type tent at the race. Assuming they continue to offer it, you would ONLY be able to get your bib (bring your ID), and would need to go to the appropriate building at the expo (with your bib) to get your included shirts. It would probably be a good idea to get there early.

I wholeheartedly agree that it's best to get there early. But, Florida's Turnpike can be tricky sometimes and I have to wait for my kids to get out of school before we drive up.

That's true. I was going to have a friend or family member go to the Bib Pick-up booth with my ID to get the Bibs and shirts with whoever wanted to run it.
Only the registered person can pic up their bib. I can't, as an example, send my husband to pick mine up, even if he had my drivers license. Selling/transferring bibs is a pretty big no-no with Disney.

I mean to the runners-relations tent if you do have to do morning-of bib pickup, because you will not be the only one needing it. I totally get the constraints of kid schedules and the massive wrench it can throw into things.

Can't do that. Plus if you tried and got caught, you and the runner who would be trying to get the bib would have a pretty high chance of being permanently banned from all future rD races. Not something I would risk.

Is anyone else having trouble with this website today? The posts at the top of each page are all screwed up with some appearing side-by-side, some posts are appearing centered in the window, and the ads are randomly all over the place. Is it just me?

Me too. And the reply box is in the middle of the screen and vertical.
