Marathon Weekend 2023

All the travel worries made me start worrying too - I'm only running the half, and was scheduled to fly down 7am Friday. I moved my flight to Thursday night, just so I'm there (I should have done that all along!).

RANDOM MCO QUESTION: I have a one night free pass with Marriott - any recommendations for a Marriott MCO hotel? There are so many to choose from (the ones right near MCO - swan/dolphin/swanR are not available). I just need a place to crash for the night when I land at 11pm. Checking into VGF the next day.
We just did this - we stayed at the Marriott Lakeside Orlando, which was nice! We just had to call the shuttle and it was like a five minute ride to the hotel. Then I Ubered over to the rental car place this morning.

Still waiting on our VGF room though! They're cutting it close to 4pm! Good thing it is a nice day, so we are at the pool.

Didn’t see this posted here yet- 2024 event and registration dates View attachment 729550

ETA: whoops guess it was on that other post, I just don’t know how to use twitter 🤦‍♀️
I wonder when the Proof of Time cutoff is going to be for the DL Half. I'm doing the Philly H-M in mid-November, but I suspect it might be too late to submit for a PoT for mid January rD race.

At the airport. Looks like we’ll be leaving pretty much on time. Haven’t gotten my room number yet though. Spending tonight at ASMo. The website says I checked in but the app is telling me I still can. Ugh. Really just want to go straight my room!

This morning, our bags were already on the carousel by the time we de-boarded, used the restroom and got down to baggage claim. First time ever. Walked right over to National Emerald Club, grabbed the rental car, and we were on our way. Easily less than 30 minutes for everything. Hopefully that is a sign of things to come for the week.
Same for me! Fastest baggage claim I've seen at MCO!

When I got to my hotel they bumped me up to a preferred room instead of the standard I had booked. That's a lot less waking at Pop!

Also, I think it's so interesting that the DL race registration is in Feb, when WDW marathon weekend registration (which takes place the weekend before the DL races) is in April.... I have a feeling a lot of people will try to get in for DL, and then they have 6 weeks to figure out if they can do WDW Marathon weekend instead of, or in addition to.

POT for this year's marathon was something like September 27. I wouldn't imagine it would be more than a week or so later, if at all.
Does anybody have a vendor list for the expo or know if by any chance Garmin will be there? I just destroyed my apple watch. 😭😭
Pretty sure there's one in the event guide...can't remember if Garmin was on there or not.

Random question... I arrive @MCO on Thurs at ~4:45 pm. Expo goes until 7pm... Would I be allowed to walk around ESPN area wheeling luggage (carry-on)?
Pretty sure I don't have time to get to hotel first, so thinking of taking uber/lyft directly to ESPN complex... 🤔

Bib: 39XX "just the marathon"; estimated 5 hr (Guessing corral 'D')

Not sure if Garmin will be at expo (they are not listed in the virtual expo page, but only a few booths are), but you could get an amazon prime or Walmart+ delivery sent to your hotel? Or if you want another apple watch, Apple will usually do same day deliveries (for tomorrow). Sorry this happened to you!

ETA - I just checked the list of booth vendors, and no garmin :(

Does anyone know if it’s possible to pick up bibs the morning of the race for the Dopey/5K? We may not make the expo tomorrow.

Yep, I did it two years ago. Came in on a redeye and went right to the expo, suitcase in hand. I even wheeled it around the merch area with no issues.

The current club runDisney specifies that it's valid for WDW races only. So unless they change it, it won't apply for the Disneyland half

I honestly think Club rD had NO idea DL races would be coming back when they wrote that and opened registration. With DL reg being in a month and already listing club dates, I don't see them re-opening a new club membership for west coast in that timeframe, but I suppose anything is possible. My guess is this year, we'll be grandfathered in. For the next year, there will be a pricier Platinum tier that includes both coasts.

I think I’m going to do that and invest in a new Garmin. I could get the Apple Watch fixed but it will take 5-7 business days. Thanks!

I do agree they may very well do that. But will wait for confirmation first!
