Marathon Weekend 2017!

Count me in for the anxiety train! I was planning a two-week taper, so my last long run was going to be on Christmas! But instead I have a horrendous cold and only managed 1.5 of 3 runs during the week, and, I'm guessing, will not be up for a 21-mile run on Sunday. Which means my last and longest run was two weeks ago, so FOUR weeks before the marathon--and only just under 19 miles! Ugh. I'm sure I'll be completely fine for the marathon, but I hate getting derailed.

I love bannanas as long as they aren't too ripe. I like mine just right.

On a different note, anyone else surprised we still don't have this year's Dooneys? You would think with Christmas right around the corner now that they would want that out so people could possibly buy an early Christmas present.

All this banana talk so here you go the prized banana at Wide World of Sports, cropped in cutting out the stranger holding on to it :) I'm in the no banana camp ever though.

Even though I ran in the 2015 W&D Half (which was shortened by almost half), I've never really felt like I earned that medal. In my training for the upcoming WDW Half in a couple weeks, I did my last long "run" today and it is also the farthest I have ever made it at 13.29 miles. I feel like I have finally earned my W&D medal. I say "run" because it took 2:57:06 (13:20). While I understand this is not a great accomplishment in this group, I felt I had to share. I don't have many friends that understand the feat that this is. But this was monumental for me.

I really enjoy reading everyone else's comments, accomplishments, and just wanted to brag a bit. I figured if anyone would understand, it would be this group. I hope to see many of you on the route. Just look for the tall guy in an orange hi-viz shirt and please say "hi".

Side note: I may have bit off more than I can chew. 8 days after running the WDW Half, I will be running the Star Wars Lightside Half in Anahiem to clinch the 2017 Coast to Coast challenge.

Please Lord, don't let me die!

Great job on the run!!Since I've been living near the parks and visiting them frequently I've seen pretty much every Run Disney race shirt being worn by people in the parks multiple times, some dozens and dozens of times, the one exception being the 2015 Wine and Dine half,do people who ran that race just feel like the race didn't happen since it was only like 6.7 miles and thus it makes them feel like something's wrong with wearing the shirt or having earned the medal?I know I was at the parks pretty much every day of Wine and Dine marathon weekend this year even though I didn't run it and I think I only saw the 2015 shirt worn once or twice by the thousands of runners at the parks,I did that race in 2015 and I wear that shirt all the time,I think I wore it yesterday!!Let me tell you it may have only been 6.7 miles but the weather that day made the race a pretty tough one, remember it hit like 90 degrees that day,if you were out during the day that heat zapped you and took a lot out of you. Then the whole lightning delay and just waiting around was harsh, not knowing if you're even going to run it after all the anticipation was stressful.I ran it with some friends who don't run races frequently and they struggled pretty bad probably due to the heat that day and in all honesty I was very glad for them the race was shortened. It wasn't a half but it wasn't an easy race either!!

Great job on the run and congrats on the back to back weekend runs. You've got this! Way to start the new year filling up the medal rack!

I HATE bananas. Hate. Think they give a bad name to fruit. But, man, I was so desperate for SOMETHING at Mile 19 this year, that I ate the cold, under-ripe banana in WWoS ... and it was amazing.

I'm pretty sure @mbwhitti yelled to me "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?" and all I could do was hold up my half-eaten banana in its peel and scream "This is the best thing ever!! I love bananas!!"

In other news, I tried to eat a banana two days later and nope ... still hate them.

I feel similar. I can eat them normally if they're the perfect ripeness but I actually took a banana during the marathon last year and used it as a motivator for me. "If you keep going, I'll let you eat a bite of this banana". I never thought I would use a banana for a reward before lol I also got a handful of pretzels from someone and it was VERY nice of them to be standing there handing them out but I think it took every last bit of hydration I had left and just turned into a dry mess in my mouth. That did not get finished.
