Marathon Weekend 2016

I forgot which article I read but an Olympic runner said she always admired the people in the back of the pack because they run so many more hours than her. Kind of a different way to look at it. Might not be the fastest but look how long I endured before the finish line.

Also back on the previous topic: I sweat just thinking about running.
But if I'm not super sweaty after a run I start feeling like maybe I didn't run enough. Instead of being happy I'm only 90% gross.

Stopping by because this ad made me think of all you runners who have big races coming up or at Disney.
It gave me all the feels.
Sorry if this has been posted before.

Nice commercial and it's a awesome motivator. One issue... Historically speaking the distance he ran was less than 26.2 by a few miles and the current distance was first used in 1924 for the Olympics (I think). Very interesting story if you have time to google it.

I had to look it up. 25 miles roughly after two days running 150. Maybe let's keep that 150 mile part quiet. So who is going to dress like Pheidippides for the Disney marathon? (Please don't actually do that...they may arrest you.)

Oh and one more thing...PR'd today!!! 7th in my age group. Little neighborhood run. But unlike that Greek dude I did not die.

I have a question on the time limits. I am injured and might have to walk a good chunk of the races. I should be in a decent coral as my estimated finish is less than four hours. So, will I still count as a finisher if I take more than 16 min per mile but don't get swept because I will be starting earlier?

You should be fine unless you stop for a ton of long photo lines. I drug my leg behind me like frankenstein for 10 miles at TOT. I was in an early corral and finished completely fine :)

Have a question. Today was my half marathon proof of time race. Happy to say that although I missed my goal time by 25 seconds, I still PR'd by over 6 minutes! I am happy about that! I went to the rundisney site to enter my proof of time and am a bit concerned. It asks you to enter the url, but today's race site only offers a results tab that you click on to enter a database, then you enter name or bib, etc. to get results. In the database the url doesn't change no matter which race you are looking at or who you look up. Have any of you experienced this and how did you account for the url on the proof of time site? I just entered the race website address and the tabs to hit to get to the results. Makes me nervous as I have been working at this PR since spring and would really like to have it count.

The whole "we do not even verify until 10/6 and will put you in corrall P if time can't be verified" makes me anxious. I sent an e-mail to the address listed on the RunDisney site but thought I would ask here as well since so many of you are veterans of these races and the registration system.

On a positive note, after today I have knocked off 31 minutes from my half marathon time since January and now have a PR of 1:50:25. It was a good day!

Great job on the PR. Keep up the good work.

I submitted my POT for ToT via the email address last year and it worked fine. I didn't have a website for that race. So I would say just stick with the email address and make sure you follow up before 10/6.

Those are awesome results. I am not at all jealous either. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1 In all seriousness, I am happy for you. Those are just the kind of times I was hoping to be at right now if I didn't have this bleeping foot issue. How much faster do you want to get?

Woohoo! a PR and you didn't die! That's a pretty great outcome. Congrats on the PR.

Yeah the whole proof of time submission thing kind of bothers me too. I understand them not wanting to do changes at registration, but if you are going to put the proof of time submission several months in advance at least give us some way to verify that what we've submitted worked while we still have a chance to remedy things.

Woohoo must be a day for PRs around here. I PR'd my half today by 6 minutes. It's also 30 minutes faster then the only time I had to submit so I'm really happy about that. I was sick for my last half and had to stop a lot for bathrooms so I knew I'd improve but this made me happy.

Honestly I've seen all my races times improve since I added in strength training anyways so I'm putting today down as a success.

Just finished my POT half marathon at 2hrs 19 which is a PR by about 40mino from wine and Dine last year. Whoop!!

Congrats to others with their PRs too!

Awesome job. 40 min PR is HUGE. Is that all because of running or did you stop for pics and stuff during W&D last year? If that is a pure running PR then please share the secret on how you made such a huge improvement.

Congrats. Any PR is a good PR. So you think strength training is the reason for your improvement?

Congrats to all who gotPR's this weekend! Seems like it has been a great weekend to lower POT's! :) Is is January yet?

maybe for the rest of you, not for me...suffered in a 10k run - I'm pissed at myself.

Thanks for the kind words and feedback about your POT submission. I am just hoping to get to run for a long time and keep pushing that PR down some each year. Sore today though! :scared::scared: Glad the PR stuff is done for awhile.

I hope your foot gets better, injuries are sooo frustrating.
