Marathon spectators

I *think* spectator buses go until after race finish. I think they just turn into the ones that the runners take back.

For teh half:
DH and I start at MK and tehn head over to just outside Epcot wher the runners come back in. Likely more places to go, but we like to hit the Back of teh Packers.

Full:

My family starts at Epcot. You see start (1 mile?) and teh 4 mile. Monorail to MK adn watch on Main Streeet. (TnT is good to, but MK is magical).

Then, they monorail ovver to teh Poly adn cheer on Floridian Way. This past year, they had breakfast at teh GF after we passed tehm. Technicallly, tehy might make it to AK or MGM, but my cousin doesn't have a pass and they don't want to deal with teh messed up traffic driving themselves.

Then, tehy head back to Epcot fro teh finish.

I love spectators wherever I can get tehm. BW is great. WS showcase woul dbe awsome. That's really tough for me.

Do they open World Showcase early on Marathon day? I thought it opened at 11.

It does open at 11. There will still be MANY WISHers on the course after that, though.

Bumping up...

Does anyone know how late the spectator buses run from the resorts? I'll be hopping on at around 3:30:eek: and I was hoping that my DH, DD's, and parents (is there an abbreviation for parents????) could get to EPCOT at around 7:00 am.

Thanks again!!

I could not get ANYONE at Disney to answer this question for me last year. My kids ended up getting on a bus just between 6:00 and 6:30 which they were told would be the last bus until after 7:00. IMO Disney really needs to get this defined for people.

I TOTALLY AGREE!! It means a lot to be able to cheer your family on - for the runner and spectator!!

this year - I was able to get into world showcase ahead of time to watch the race - Not in the back but you can go to where the Norway restaurant is -I was eating breakfast there that morning - but I think they let anyone back

There is a period of time when they stop running the busses. I think it is from 6 or a little before to around 7. This is mainly since the roads are shut down around Epcot and they cannot get any more busses in without interferring with the runners. After 7, they figure the roads are open enough to start going again. Spectators just take the runners busses and the busses only go to Epcot. If you want to go elsewhere, you have to get on a different resort bus or take the monorail.

Thank you all for your replies. I'll have them all ready to board the bus at

We were at the bus stop at 5:20 - and left at 6:10 - and never saw a single bus - there was a RUNNER stuck at our hotel and she was not able to get on a bus - a lot of people had been there since 5:00 and the buses had already stopped running -

They should have a backup plan just in case the same thing happens again - and I had even confirmed with the hotel before my arrival and the night before about catching buses and they assured me it would be NO PROBLEM - which ended up being quite the opposite - there were a LOT of people irritated with the manager that morning and he really didnt care - he even told us - no one in this hotel told you there would be a bus b/c we knew there would not be one - he had 30 people standing there telling him something different and he did not care - it was the most un-Disneylike experience I had ever had there -

We stay at AKL and admittedly we have a hire care that makes things easier but last year my partner managed to get to Gertie the dinosaur at Animal Kingdom (which is about 18km I think) then get to just past the sorcerers hat at MGM and to the pub in Epcot ready to see me come in - I tokk 5.40 to finish so not exactly a speedy pace which helps. I think he drove between them all, but you can walk from MGM to the back of Epcot/Boardwalk (and he better manage it again this year or they'll be a big tantrum!!!)

If you're staying at AKL then you might be able to walk it to Animal Kingdom parking lot - depending on how strict they are as I'm not sure there's a pavement - you just come out of the hotel, turn left and you come to where the marathoners run out of the parking lot. Not sure how long it would take but it's possible.

My DW and I walked from AK to AKL this past May. There is no sidewalk so you have to walk in the grass which isn't too bad. But as you get closer to AKL, you have to walk along the road where there is a very small shoulder. This is barely walkable and have to walk along edge of road. It is about 3/4 a mile and about 15 min walk.
