6 days ago on the advice of many, i filled out the personalized maps on disney's website. today i received a game on pin for my efforts. claiming to offer 30% off resort rates... at select resorts. the dates on this are 10/1-10/6, and 10/10-10/31 of this year. offer expiring on august 25th. "call to see what other offers and dates are available for your pin code!"...since i, like most people, are waiting for my yearly free dining, call i did. a half hour later here are the results: i stated what i really want here is the free dining that is included in my package every year. if that's in my box, i'll give you my credit card info right now. so with this knowledge, on her own she tried multiple codes and deals, and even talked to her supervisor when her search turned up nothing. this also turned up nothing. she then told me that they normally don't do free dining during those dates. strange, since my vacation dates never change, and i've had free dining every year at those dates since they first started offering it, perhaps i'm mistaken. i wonder what disneyworld i've been going to? anyway, she insisted on giving me a quote using my code, so i let her. my 10 day package quote went from my own online price of $2,671.60 down to a staggering $2,498.30. again, i could be mistaken, but 30% sure looks an awful lot like 5%. maybe my math, and my memory, are going. i thanked her and said i'll keep watching. boy i sure hope they offer a general (free dining) deal soon, i'd really rather not do this again.

I'm making a map RIGHT NOW! And then crossing my fingers.

Having said that... I find 90% of the CMs are grievously misinformed and/or clueless. I can't tell you how many times we've had to call back for someone new due to the previous one's lack of information. How is it *I* know more than they do??? :confused3 I hate doing someone's job for them, but when it's that or not getting the appropriate discount (or room or whatever!) it must be done. Good for you for telling them what you want and going through every channel to make sure it truly wasn't available.

The 30% off room rates might have been based on deluxes, with the other categories descending to 5% on values. The 5-10% off I've been hearing about is offensive. I'd honestly rather have nothing. That doesn't even cover sales tax. Don't spit on me and tell me it's raining. That's what those "discounts" seem like. I've heard nothing but inconsistencies with this "Game On" PIN.

I've never had Free Dining(so we haven't been "spoiled" by it!) and don't require it to book, but I think everyone agrees that without a discount the rooms are grossly overpriced. If a good discount isn't offered for our dates we're staying off-site. I don't want to... but I just can't stomach paying rack rate for a room that is discounted so heavily during busier times of the year. October is considered a slower season. That's just CRAZY! :scared1: It also bugs the heck out of me that the PIN codes are so random. That some people are getting Free Dining and huge discounts and others aren't... It's just not very honorable. And trust me, I am the last person to complain about the cost of ANYTHING at a Disney Park. We go to Disneyland at least once a month and eat every meal there, plus shop, etc. every time we go. I never bat an eye about the cost of a bottle of water or a burger. But the room rates, even there, are just ridiculous. We live 2 hours away and staying on site would be nice occasionally but we are unable to afford it even WITH the AP discount.

It's just odd the CM told you there hasn't been FD offered during those dates. There has been for at least 3-4 years! Don't give information if you aren't completely sure of the information you are giving. That's the number one rule in good customer service.

Sorry for the rant, but this just annoys me.

Making a map doesn't mean you'll get a PIN. I made my maps last month and I did get an email from Disney Destinations about a week after the maps arrived. The email thanked me for making my maps and asked me to share the map making option with my friends and there was no PIN to be found! Boo! LOL! I clicked through the link and put in DH's email and shared it with him, but still no PIN as of now. Come on October discounts!!!!!:rotfl:

Add me to the maps = no PIN club! I've ordered maps several times over the past few years and I have yet to get a PIN. It's really depressing. :(

Same here! I've done everything everyone says generates a PIN (order maps several times a year, order planning DVD, save quotes in the Disney site, do all the surveys, signed up on every Disney site, call, etc) and I've still never received a PIN.

Ditto. At the end of the latest survey a few weeks ago, I even asked (politely) for a pin code. Nothing....

sorry to mislead any who read this post and expect results. i should have chosen a better heading. i was refering to my own experience in hopes of offering a chance for those to find some continuity in how disney distributes these pins. it would seem that there is none. unless in the establishing of a typical response time (pin or no) seems to be about a week when you do the maps? also the fact that even those who have gotten a "deal" by doing this, it never appears to be a real deal (if you get one at all). hopefully someone will post a way of potentially getting a pin with more fruitful results. the maps don't appear to be worth the time.

Yea, if they would just come out with something, I'd feel a bit better at least!!

I've made maps on mine & my DH's account & neither of us have gotten anything from it either. I've done it all, saved package prices, ordered the DVD, maps, etc. I've gotten nothing when I actually plan on going. :rotfl:

join the club, you'd think a yearly dedicated patronage would be worth something to disney. the time before this we called up just to check if a pin was in the account. the cm told us about how we've already made our dining reservations for this upcoming (yet unbooked) trip. she told us "wow, you sure buy a lot of gifts when you're here... referring to the fact that we always charge all gift shop purchases to our room. last trip we spent almost $800 in junk for the kids and xmas gifts for the family. they have that info right in front of them, they save it all. still, weird having it quoted back at you out of the blue a year later. i wonder what one must do to become valuable enough to disney to "earn" a real perk/discount?

Having breen 10+ times, only once I got a pin, and for the same time I already had a bounce back reservation. In fact the pin offer was worse than what I already had.

This was 3+ years ago...

Hi I was just curious as to where you are staying? What it looks like to me is you probably got 30% off the room only since this is only a room only code. Remember they don't give you 30% off the package.

POFQ, and there may be that variance, but i still don't think that will come to a 30% discount. saving $173 to outlay $5,000 by the time the trip is over isn't much incentive to book. keeping my fingers crossed like everyone else.

I just received the Game On pin saying that they were thrilled to hear that our family was coming back in October...it just so happens that I was pricing out a solo trip for October about a month ago.

My pin offer is a Stay! Play! Dine!
4-night/5-Day package including quick service dining. The price quoted is $480 @ select Value resorts 10/1/11-10/6/11 and 10/10/11-10/31/11.
It says..."That's a savings of 22%"
*Ask about other dates, lengths of stay and accomodations when you call!"

I haven't priced anything on this offer because I can't make these dates after all. :sad1:

I get that isn't much of a discount when you are looking at the whole package. But it's not 5%. It is 30% off the room rate which is what Disney offered you.

i don't know how you're getting your figures. it's $1683 for my time frame, resort only. this is basic math with quoted totals obtainable by anyone with a computer or telephone. 30% of this figure would be a savings of $505, not $173. $173 at 30% off would be to say you could book POFQ for 10 days for $580. if i could get that, i'd sacrifice the free dining. so, you are correct, it's not 5%, rather a generous 10%. still, not anywhere in the ballpark of the large lettered 30% heading. having been watching the majority of posts about the game on pin, i think now we've established a 3rd point about them, they largely seem to be used as a phone opportunity to make the hard sell on a poor deal. i would advise anyone else getting these pins to take the time and do the math. don't just take for granted disney is honoring the deal they quote you, walt is not running the company anymore.

that's strange, i have not received any map e-mail notification. then again, i haven't received my maps either. they quoted me 6-8 weeks when i filled out the request to have them mailed. perhaps it's forthcoming. as previously stated, it was only 6 days from creating my maps to receiving a pin. as i've also seen quoted by others. you may want to try some of the other options if you're beyond this time frame.

I just got a game on pin today so maybe the map did trigger it.:confused3 I ordered the dvd a few days ago but figured it wouldn't have been enough time to mail something for that to have worked.
