Making your own FE

Has anyone ever knit a FE, or are they only fabric and sewn?
If someone has been successful at knitting one, can you please share the pattern with us?
thanks
 
My concern with knitting one would be the stretchiness. It might work better if you knitted it and then felted it. That or lined it like you do with knit purses....
