We have never in all our trips to Disney made a room request but my dh wants so much to stay in the same room that we were in last year at AS Movies. It was, I admit, a perfect location. Bottom floor...corner room...walk straight out and you are at the food court! Anyway...how should I go about making this request? I did ask the CM who I made the phone ressie with to put it in the notes and he said he did.

Should I call there, email, fax?? What has been most successful for you guys? I realize that no one is going to guarantee me this room but if I wanted to get it to the proper person's attention, how would I do this? Thanks!!

You went about it the right way already. :goodvibes

Really!? I thought I remembered people saying that when time got closer, you should contact the resort.

Maybe I'm being overzealous! Ha! You don't think I need to call or fax anything?

If it has already been noted on your reservation then that's all you can do. Repeating the request won't change anything.

I would say out of 30 trips I got what I asked for maybe 4 times.I would get close but never exactly the room number i wanted. If it happens for you then your lucky or the pixie dust gods sprinkled you.

The rooms are assigned by computer now, so you did all you can do. If you don't get the room at check-in, I would ask the front desk CM to check to see if they can switch you. If it's available, they will do their best to accommodate you!

Requesting a specific room is just setting yourself up for disappointment. You would have to be lucky enough to have the previous occupant of the room checking out on the day you arrive. At a resort where guests stay for multiple nights that's not likely.

When you request a specific room, the room assigner has no idea why you chose that room. Instead ask for a bottom floor, conner room near the food court.

Way back when, people did sometimes call or fax the resort with requests. But for some years now, all published resort phone numbers have gone to a call center. In fact, when you call the front desk from your resort room, it goes to the call center. They'll answer as if they're at your resort, but they're not. So, it's no longer possible to call the resort directly with room requests.

And the resorts stopped accepting faxed room requests a few years back.

In truth, neither was necessary. If the request is on your reservation, calling or faxing wouldn't increase your chances of getting it.

PP is correct in that resorts do not accept fax requests anymore. The only thing you can do is call and have the CM on the phone add it as a notation to your reservation.

I agree with this poster. It's highly unlikely that you will get the same room, so you are better off making a more generic request and in the order you want. For instance, if bottom floor is most important to you, request "bottom floor, corner room, near food court"... in order of importance to you.

I'd also avoid online check-in. The goal of CM's is to get you in a room that's ready when you arrive when you do online check-in so your requests come secondary.

Someone would have to be checking out of that room the day you check in. They won't hold it empty for you ahead of time. If someone is in it, they are obviously not going to move them. You might get lucky, but be prepared not to get it and be happy anyway.
