I keep running into threads where people feel the magic at Disney is fading, people are ruder than ever, etc etc.

You know, when I go to Disney World, I am not there to people watch. I am there to live my week to the fullest with my family. I live in my own little bubble and the only way you are going to pop it is if you are in my face yelling at my kids or yelling at me. Other than that I don't really care what that person in the line on that other ride we just walked past said to their child, how they held their child, what type of stroller they use and look how old that child is in it...you get my drift.

We make our own magic. The last time I was at Disney with my kids you would have seen me pushing my stroller, with my minnie ears on and skipping through Adventureland with my older boys following.

Life is about what we make it. If I want that dad telling his kid off to ruin my vacation, it would. But it doesn't. :goodvibes

I love Disney and everything in it and around it. Disney provides the enviroment and Pixie Dust, it's up to us to spread it if we find empty spots. :thumbsup2

Yea, well I want to be miserable! And it I want to be miserable I will. I will NOT let your happiness stop me from my miserableness.

Just kidding lol. Very well said!!! :thumbsup2

Well said! I completely agree! My view on this is to try and make someone else vacation just a little magical b/c pixie dust is like karma! To me making it special for a honeymooning couple or a child is what its all about! Happiness is contagious, make someone else smile and next thing you know you'll be smiling!

Also the magic can be in the little things, a special relaxing moment on the side of the castle, a nice view of fireworks, getting stuck on IASW right at the end when your so close to getting off (JK!)

Im so glad that OP brought this up!

I think I'd jump out of the boat! :rotfl:

I still love Disney - unless it is over the top, call the police behavior, I'm not going to let a few rotten people ruin my trip. Most people are there to have a great time and even the ones that aren't in the best mood, might be having a bad day from sensory overload. It's all good, don't worry, be happy! :hippie:

OP, you make a great point!
We recently returned from a very UN-magical trip and throughout the whole thing I kept telling myself not to let all the issues we encountered spoil the magical moments with my family. I'll admit it was (and still is) hard to shake my negative feelings but I will always remember the fun my children had more than anything else. ;)

I couldn't agree more, we make our own magic.

That's not to say that every moment I spend at Disney is magical, I have my moments, but by and large, I understand that it is up to me to have fun, and for the most part, I manage to do so.

Totally agree!! When I am at Disney I am in my own little world. Have I seen crazy mean people...yes, do they get to me...no.
I am not letting anyone ruin my vacation I worked hard and paid for.

If you see mean rude people, look in the other direction....you will see magic!

I agree OP.

But I have to say posts like these make me wonder if Disney management is posting on these boards. Everytime someone posts a not so happy experience they get told they didn't make the best of it and maybe should just stop going to DW.

AGREED!

My 62 year old mom always wears her Minnie ears proudly! I sing Disney songs on boats, busses and monorails. I skip through the parks. And I'm smiling from ear to ear the minute the plane touches down in Orlando.

When I'm in my happy place, I'm happy! :cloud9:

Couldn't agree with you more! I have enough negativity I try to keep out of my bubble back home in the real world...I certainly am not going to allow perfect strangers' what they're doing / not doing into my world @ Disney. I simply choose to not permit it to exist in my Disney World bubble. :cool1:

I recently posted a thread about WDW magic. The purpose of the thread was not to complain, but it was meant to inspire others to keep the Disney spirit alive when vacationing at WDW even when it is really hot with huge crowds. And yes I agree that we should all make the best of it and not let others spoil the magic, but that is extremely difficult when you see so many inconsiderate persons. My family just got back and we did our very best to keep the magical spirit. But, it was vey difficult when dealing with others not so magical behaviors.

Well said OP....sometimes I think posts that are created just for the sake of complaining are pointless on this site.

It is difficult sometimes to just ignore other peoples behaviors. Sometimes it is difficult to deal with the behaviors of our own traveling companions. DW and DS5 (he's six now) drove me nuts last summer, and I had one morning that wasn't so magical, but I got a much needed break from them for a while (30 minutes or so) to breathe a bit, and get past it, and we had a great time the rest of the day, and trip.

In the end, the OP is completely right. You have NO control over what others do, the only thing you can control is how you chose to react to it. You can get angry, argue, fight, simmer about it for hours, and have a miserable time, OR you can choose to let it go, not care about it, and just enjoy your vacation.

Most of the time, it is better for us if we simply don't care about stuff, and enjoy our vacation . . . . a hard thing to do sometimes admittedly, but the better job we do of it, the happier we'll be in the long run.

I completely agree with this sentiment. Fun is what you make it and we all need to find our own joy in the world.

I'm not a pollyanna at all, and I know there are problems in the world and that nothing is perfect, including at WDW, but I choose to focus on the 99.9% that is great, instead of the 0.1% that isn't.

You are so right! I leave in six days, and all I'm looking for is the MAGIC!! Hope to spread some around, too! :wizard:

You don't really think Disney management would come on these boards and tell people to stop going to DW, do you?!?
:)

Wonderful thread, well done OP!!!!!
Absolutely agree, do not people watch, there are so much things to see in Disney. Enjoy your family and your trip and who cares what is going on around, you are on vacation.:cool1:
