The happy place. We spent a week in Orlando, first 4 days in Universal Orlando and the last three days at the BWV's. We did not tour the parks we just wanted to breathe a little Disney air and enjoy the resort after some exhausting days on the dark side.

We had reservations at Flying Fish and Boma. It was myself, daughters 10 and 8, and a family friend. When I booked our dining my daughter was 9 so it just did not register that she would be an adult as far as Disney dining was concerned when we dined at Boma. We generally book the deluxe dining when we are doing an actual Disney vacation.

When we were greeted at Boma, they ask how many kids , how many adults, I offer 2/2. They then ask ages of kiddos, I respond 10 and 8. They in turn say "so 3 adults and 1 kiddo". That's when it hits me, she's an adult now when in the mouse house.

My sweet Disney adult ate a slice of turkey, a drumstick, and Mac & cheese for $39.99, now people I have been going to Disney since there was only one park, I have owned at the BWV's since 1998, I am an AP owner more often than not. But that's just stupid! Morale of this rant, we will be buying a Tables in Wonderland card next year at the beginning of our AP cycle and will no longer dine at buffets or participate in dining plans unless Disney reconsiders what an adult is when it comes to dining ages. Thanks allowing me to vent, it has been therapeutic.

Glad that you now know what works better for your family. Hope that vent did make you feel better; that situation would be frustrating for most anyone. Personally, I love Boma, but there are no characters or entertainment to help justify that cost if you don't eat much.

AYCTE restaurants are a poor value for many real-world 18+ adults who don't have large appetites and a great value for many 9 and unders who are big eaters. I doubt Disney will change their age pricing structure anytime soon and AYCTE locations won't change charges based on amount of food eaten, so I'm glad it sounds like you have a good plan for next time!

We will have this issue next year with our oldest. Barely eats a thing but loves character meals.

Thankfully our Disney kid eats like a grown man to make up for it.

We will dine at Jiko and pick up zebra domes to go at Mara! My girlies just don't eat a lot, the 10 yr old offered next yr she and I can split entrees. My 8 yr old daughter is even a lighter eater, so our days of buffets are over, . But I have my plan!

I have a Disney adult with a "smallish" appetite and I also have 8-year-old twins. For now, we don't do many buffets (except for Crystal Palace or Trail's end). My teenager and I share most of the time and that works for us. :)

I always say that the person who decided that a person is an adult at age 10 must have been the same person who decided that it was OK for Ariel to get married at 16.
