Hi all,
Can anyone please help me i have just had a phone call from my partner who was speaking to a work collegue who has in turn just got back from orlando, she informed my wife that loads of people have been moved out of the quality inn international hotel because of the appauling state of the hotel.

so has anyone been there recently and whats it like ?

do you think i should speak to my travel operator and see what they say about the situation?

help please

chris:confused:

i would move out a girl from my work came back from there two days ago and they demanded a new hotel on arrival as the international was such a mess

That surprises me I was there in December while its always been basic its been clean and tidy and the 2 quiet weeks before Christmas a lot of rooms were being decorated
I would try and find out more info...

Hi Ya,

My sister stay there in November 03, the first room she was given upon arrival was disgusting, foul smells, bathroom not cleaned etc, the room was down a very dark corner, which she would of needed a torch to see when returning at night.

She went back to reception and demand a different room near the main building, although the receptionist tried to fob her off with another room in the same area. My sister requested to speak to the supervisor, another receptionist who had been listening in on the conversation changed my sister's room to the area she requested, which turned out to be 100% better than the first room.

If I was you I would contact travel agent (but they can't do much from here) or the hotel direct. If your still not happy, get the hotel changed asap. Look luck.

thats a real worry as we have booked to go there in September.

We have been there before and found it nice and clean, but these reports obvoiusly show other wise.

What do i do know as i booked the hotel independently through Virgin?

Giggler:(

I have friends just back a couple of weeks ago.

they weren't impressed but said it was clean enough so they didn't complain but it was in need of some attention. Things like the grout around the bath was going black.

We were there at Easter this year and it was basic but clean. Room was cleaned every day except one.

Oh no, I am booked in the QII for 3 weeks from end of Sept (hotel was recommend by a friend although they have not been there for a few years) - I dont know what to do. I dont want our first holiday to Florida to be spoiled by the hotel. Do you think it is too late to change? and if so what about the costs etc.
I am also booked to go there in Sept 05!!!

I am travelling with Virgin, anybody ever been in a situation like this?

ANY HELP / SUGGESTIOS PLEASE

Hi

I heard the QII was not that great. Very basic this was why we changed our booking. We had half a yr to change it, so we only had to pay £15 each for ammendment charges. Now we have actually cancelled that holiday and booked it all independantly so we can stay at Disney and get a cheaper flight you save so much than brochure price.

I am not sure what the costs would be I would imagine it would be at £15 each to change it, the main factor is where can you change it to???? I would expect alot of hotels are now booked. I would speak to your Travel Agent and get them to demand some answers. Alternatively if you have all booked through Virgin QUU has a onsite Virgin Rep Office. Try and get there number and speak to them directly at least you may not get chinese whispers.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Regards
Michelle

We came back a couple of weeks ago, we also stayed in the QII, There was nothing wrong at all with our room we was on the 2nd floor facing the pool, had no qualms, the hotel is basic, but in the heart of International Drive, I wasnt happy with the Buffet Menu and the Food, but our room was fine, We had one problem with the air conditioning but they soon sorted it out, I didnt see any other real cause for concern to leave.

M.i.l also stayed at the QII for a week with us and her room, was nice also, she said she would stay again....so I am not sure what more to say but it was ok when we was there from the 20th june for 2weeks...

We booked via Virgin as they have a Virgin desk in the hotel, so any problems and you can visit them.

We also stayed 2002 and had no problems then.

So i'm not sure... if you are worried then ring up your tour operator.

My son and his mate and their two girlfriends stayed there in june also - they didn't complain at all, only that the food was terrible:(

I reckon holidays are too important to take a chance on the accommodation. QII sounds a bit dodgy to me, so I'd bail out now if it's not too expensive. FWIW, I was going to book the Caribe Royale for next year, because of the good price, big rooms and pool, but when I did a search a lot of the comments were negative. I've now booked a 2-bed, 2-bath condo in Windsor Palms (which only gets good reviews) for only £55 a night. So I've saved £25 a night and am hopefully guaranteed a decent standard of accommodation. There's nothing worse than wishing you'd gone somewhere else.

thanks everyone for all your input.

I have decided to stay there for the following reasons,

1) we will not be eating there as i-drive has so many good places to eat.

2) It is only a place to sleep as we will proberbly be out and about from 8am till 5pm then 7pm till late so as long as the bed is comfy and the room door locks we will be ok

3) when i spoke to thomas cook yesterday they said i could change my hotel and pay the difference or i could wait till in resort and then speak to rep.

so roll on orlando

thanks again

Oh Chris I hope the QII is ok!!

This is a major headache for me! We have booked through Virgin Holidays, as they listed it as one of their Flagship Hotels.

We are getting married through Virgin out there, and booked it all last August so have been madly planning for a year.

If something is wrong with this hotel I think I'll go mad! I have had two major disasters so far with all my planning....

I ordered Disney Wedding Invites from the States, as although we arent having any guests out there, we are having a Disney-themed wedding reception on our return to the UK. My invites were seized by Customs on entry to the UK, and I had to pay a fortune for them to release the pack before the invites were deported back to the US.

Then in June Theme Park Land went bust, and we had spent about £1500 with them on our attraction tickets. I still havent had a good response with Barclaycard regarding my refund/credit due.

Now this. They say bad things come in threes.

I dont want to start completely from scratch searching for a new hotel.

I dont know what to do!!!!

That's the reason we chose it. A lot of Brits will have done the same, so Virgin have a lot of reputation to loose if their chosen hotel is of poor quality.

If they have a Virgin rep based at the hotel why isn't he/she fighting for a better standard, Virgin must supply a large amount of their bookings.

I admit that while in Florida a hotel is mainly a place to crash out at the end of the day, but standards must still be kept, no-one likes a grubby and smelly room.

Let's hope Virgin and the other UK Travel Companies are doing something about it, and please give us an update if you've been.

I have just phoned Virgin in sheer panic over this!! But they have put my mind at rest.......

The girl said that she would check the "Updates" on the QII and put me on hold. She was gone for a while, but did come back to say that they have heard NOTHING about this issue at all.

She said that all Virgin Reps in Orlando have to give updates regularly on all accommodations offered by Virgin (not just those with a Virgin Rep on-site).

She said that if there was the slightest problem, Virgin in Crawley would definitely have been told. She said that even if minor works were being undertaken on a hotel they would send a letter to all future guests to inform them of the slightest detail.

So I wouldnt worry too much. I have read so many negative posts re the QII but it IS a cheap & basic hotel, and maybe some people are expecting the Ritz!!!!

Anyway, enjoy all your September trips - and please give feedback on this hotel on your return - ready for me to fly out in October!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Lorraine,

You have had some bad luck. When ordering from the US we have always been hit with stuipidly high import tax. This country loves to rip us off.

Well regarding the hotel can you ring the Virgin desk at QII and explain its your wedding out there and you dont want it ruined. I am sure they will be more than helpful. This will at least give you some confidence or speak to your Travel Agent. Maybe they can suggest some alternative arrangement or advice.

Good luck and have a nice wedding.

Regards
Michelle

I agree, but honestly we had no problems with any of our stays there, the only thing we didnt enjoy was the food, but like someone said there is so many good restaurants out there on I-drive etc you don't need the food from the hotel.

I pick the hotel because of it's location, price, and it's a virgin flagship hotel which keeps me happy (maybe I'm easy to please) lol.

But we had no problems and if you do have any problems there is a virgin desk on the lower floor, where you can pop in, but when we was there we didnt hear or see anyone complaining, etc...

Hope you all have a wonderful time when you are there...makes me want to go back :(

hi

my friend got married through virgin and was treated like royalty. she got married in las vagas. firstly they upgraded her flights to first class from economy then when they got to the hotel they were given the honeymoon suite. if there is a prrob with the hotel just tell your rep when you are there and im sure they will sort it for you. if its ok then milk the fact you are getting married out there and hopefully you will get some cool free perks.

hope this helps

love

lucy
