Let me say that we absolutely love SSR and are so happy to have it as our home resort. We expect to stay there on a majority of our trips.
I'm not sure whether to be concerned, though, at the number of maintenance issues I saw during our recent trip. I'm warry that if there are noticable issues when they're still bringing tours through, what will it look like several years from now?
At the pool, the fountain that sprays water into Donald's bucket was broken the entire 14 days we were there. (The fountains were working, but the water that "jumps" into Donald's bucket wasn't.) We didn't report this, because we thought it was pretty apparent to everyone. I suppose it could have been that a part was on order or something. (Has anyone been in the past two weeks? Is it working yet?)
Also, every single poolside table had a cracked or broken glass top. Broken glass and a pool really didn't seem like a good combination to me. I'm not sure why they went with glass instead of plexiglass in the first place. I reported the specific table we were sitting at to a lifeguard, who acted surprised to see the damage and said he'd report it. It wasn't until we got up from eating and were leaving that I realized every other table was also broken. That made me suspecious of the lifeguard's reaction to my report. They rearrange the tables and chairs every night, and certainly would have noticed so much damage. It made me think it had been like this for a long time without being addressed.
In our room, the lamp shade had a two-inch tear in it and a piece of trim had fallen off the wall and was sitting on the floor of the closet. I didn't call maintenance, which I guess I should have. I just reported it to the front desk as we were checking out. (I did at least turn the tear in the shade towards the wall so the next guests wouldn't be quite as disappointed at seeing it.)
These were all minor issues, but the magic is in the small details.
