I just called Disney and requested that my party (4 adults and 1 toddler) be seated by ourselves. She advised that she will put in the request but could not promise it. I won't be completely heartbroken if we end up sharing; however, in your experience, have you always been given a private table if you requested it?

My family is a good time and we would be fairly entertaining for anyone who sat with us. But I worry because we can also be that loud and rambunctious group.

Side story: Last time I sailed was just my husband and I - it was our first DCL cruise and we were so excited. We were seated with another couple who were so grumpy. They lived in Florida and took Disney cruises all the time. They would make comments like, "oh we skipped x-y-z because we've just seen/did it so many times and we're over it." There was no happy Disney fun from them.

I think they will be able to do it. When you board, go to wherever the dining changes are handled and if it isn't already set, tell them you want a private table. I just did that last week and it was no big deal.

I saw several 4 top tables that had a child seat added to it when I was in the dining rooms. It doesn't seem to be an unusual or difficult request.

We just returned from our first cruise and had requested a private table. We did not receive it. We were comfortable with the family seated with us but still would have liked to have our own table. Next time I will do as cruisehopeful suggests and check as soon as we board.

We ended up skipping the last 2 nights in the dining rooms as the meals were taking 2 hours and there was so many other things we would rather be doing. If we were seated alone I would have asked the waiter to hurry things along but didn't want to rush the other family,

Yes

We've been on two cruises so far, had main dining and requested a private table on both but have never received it.

The first cruise (which was our first cruise) we went to the dining changes place as soon as it opened on boarding and was told we could only have the private table if we switched to late dining. We didn't and were seated with another couple. They were much older than us but nice none the less.

Our second cruise we just turned up at the dining room and hoped they had granted our request. This time we were seated with two other couples, again nice people.

We have a Med cruise in September and have requested the private table again. Although this would be our preference, being seated with other people hasn't been as bad as we thought (we aren't overly outgoing people) and both times we have sat with more experienced cruisers who have given us great information and comparisons!

I think a family of 4 requesting a 4-top has a good chance of being granted. I think couples requesting a private table is a long shot, because there are no 2-tops, and only so many table in the dining room.

I'm going back and forth on whether to do private seating or not... do you have a better chance if it's late seating?

We requested a private table for our recent cruise in February and did not get it....late seating.

Requested a private table for our sept 2015 cruise and was celebrating my birthday and did get it.

Our last cruise we were next to a table that had 3 different families with toddlers. We enjoyed watching the little ones. Though it was the late seating and the babies seldom made it through dinner.

I did read that having late seating increases your chances.

As a family of 5 it seems like we always end up with just us at the table. On our last cruise we actually had a family of 3 seated with us but they never made it to dinner the entire week. I would be inclined to say based on our way experience that with 5 of you it's likely you will have a table to yourselves.

One time we were a party of 5 and had our own table (6 top). Another time we were a party of 3 and were seated at an 8 top with a family of 5.

It's a crap shoot.

For 6 out of 8 cruises, we have been at our own table. We never request it, but it just seems to work out that way. :)
One time we were seated at an 8 top with another family of 4 that Disney matched us with. It was not that great of a match, so we asked to be moved to another table that first night and it was no problem. We did end up with another serving team, which was also perfect. :)
Our very first cruise we were placed at an 8 top with another family of 4 that were delightful veteran cruisers, and we would have enjoyed getting to know them as they seemed very nice.
However, they never came to dinner after that (it was second seating ) and they had a young one that they were worried about keeping awake later than his usual bedtime.

Have a great cruise!

Always had a private table as per request. 6 top. I have read that odd numbers are more likely to be put with others. But no idea.

We had a private table for the two of us. It was the late seating on Easter week/Spring Break. I was pleasantly surprised!

We too have never requested a private table, but have ended up with one 6 out of 10 cruises. We've been groups of 4, 5 and 6.

We requested and received a private table for our family of five on our first cruise. We've requested it for the next two as well. To be honest if we don't receive it we won't eat many dinners in the MDR. I know it's a cruising tradition and respect that but it wouldn't work well for us.

We were granted a private table (family of 3)...however, I said I will take either seating, preferring late night...AND our DD has severe food allergies, so we preferred to be at a table where we could control what was served at the table. It was granted for us.

Yes I should add that two of our family members have food allergies and we notified DCL ahead of time. So that could have contributed to us getting a private table. We also have a highly spirited red headed young child who barely lasted through half of the early seating and that could have contributed, too ;)
