Magicbands

We're hearing during September and October, a widespread MyMagic+ test will take place that includes guests staying at most Disney Resorts. Resorts we know will be involved in this test include Pop Century, Art of Animation, Port Orleans Riverside, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Contemporary Resort, Polynesian Resort, Beach Club Resort and Villas, and Yacht Club Resort. Guests staying at these resorts (and possibly others) on or after September 3 will be informed via emails or letters of their MyMagic+ options, such as pre-booking their FastPass+ times and customizing their MagicBands via the My Disney Experience site and/or mobile app. International guests and those who failed to receive notification will be able to make their FastPass+ selections and receive their MagicBands upon arrival. While this will still be classified as a "test" it is expected to remain in force from here on out barring any major issues.

That's good. My issue is I have been able to book fp+ and have the bands page but can only select gray.... And my cutoff is by sep 1

I am having the same issue I can book FP+ but under the magicbands my only color is gray for my entire family. I am going Oct 18 thru the 23 and have until sept 17 to customize them so I hope it changes before then

Colors are there now. You should be good

FYI, I'm hearing that the MagicBands work with Disney Infinity. If you place one on the pad, it unlocks a dragon character. I'm also hearing it unlocks the Toy Box mode, but I don't know if that is true or the only way, as they've advertised that mode quite a bit.

What are the chances the All Stars would be included in this next up coming test? We are checking in at AsMu on the 19th of Oct. and would love to try these Magic Bands out.

So, we are staying at AoA Oct.5-12th and I've been registered on MDE since I first booked our trip. I've linked our resort reservation, all of our ADRs and our MNSSHP tickets (or cards, actually). We are 43 days out and our trip is fully paid for, of course. We booked our resort and park tickets thru Small World Vacations, so not directly thru Disney. Therefore, we've been told we will get our "park tickets" upon arrival at our resort. (I guess I should also mention that this is our first ever trip, so I'm very new to all this stuff) Today, I was on MDE & clicked on the "Fastpass +" link & to my surprise I was able to book our Fastpasses!!! Then, I clicked the "Manage MagicBand" link and it just shows our four card tickets from when I linked our MNSSHP tickets when I got them in the mail a couple months ago. My question is this.....did my linking those MNSSHP ticket cards screw up my ability to see MagicBand choices??? I'm wondering if I should go in and delete those off....??? I'm just confused as to why I was able to do our Fastpasses, but am not given the option to customize our bands....

My family and I are going to be at BC Oct 15-20th, I'd been checking MDX every few days for the past like week or so. Just a few minutes ago I logged in and clicked on Manage My Bands, and this time I had the option to Manage them, where as before I did not and it just showed the cards. I'm SUPER excited (literally danced around my house when I saw!) to try them!

Seems a long shot...it has not been mentioned in anything I have heard for the upcoming test.

Booked our room at POP on Thurs (Aug 20) for next Friday with the option to pick colors (pink green) for our MB. We booked a room the same day (hour later) Thurs Aug 20 for Yacht Club for next Sat with the option to pick the colors and the box for those arrived yesterday but our ones for POP are still saying they are customized already and will be shipped to the confirmed address or resort and have not shipped. Anyone else's saying that? Can we assume they will be sent to POP or should we just expect to get the grey ones? Thanks for the help!

I just logged into MDE and sure enough I now have the option to customize magic bands. We're staying at Pop Oct 18-28. Does anybody know if there is a way to opt out of the testing and use the old fast pass system? I'm assuming you can't use the old fast pass system if you're using fast pass +?

Hard to predict what will be happening in October, but current testers have reported being able to do both FastPass + with magic bands and the regular FP system with the Key to the World Cards.

Double dipping seems like a good deal and an encouraging reason to test, so hooopefully, still testing not rolled out in November, when we go :)

Cheers,

Oh wow if you can use fast pass+ and use the regular system, that'd be pretty amazing. Has anybody been down there recently that has confirmed this is still working?

A friend of mine was down there about 2 weeks ago and was able to do both.

Most people are reporting having to do the online check in first to be able to go customize the magic bands. If you don't want to do online check in, then I believe you will be given grey bands at check in.

Still working as of yesterday. It is in the printed CM reference guide that testers are allowed to use both systems. That guide was printed this month.

I just logged into MDE and actually had the option to customize all of our bands for the first time!!!!! I'm 42 days out today. I did our online check-in exactly 60 days out. So, I'm not sure what the trigger was. I was able to reserve all our Fastpass + yesterday but no bands. This morning, I have it all! I'm SO excited!!!!

Glad you were able to customize them today. Like you, I had done online check in at 60 days. and at about 45 was able to make my FP+ selections. But my MBs weren't open. I had to redo my online check in (changing time we get in) before I knew about the glitch with online check in, and after doing so was when mine opened up. I am now 34 days out from my trip. Just 3 more days till my MB ship :cheer2:

Call me what you want... preferably a Disney geek (maybe something worse...?) but I really want the bands. It sounds like All-star movies is not going to be testing when I'm there (10/12-10/22). I'm thinking of going crazy and booking one night with 10 day park hopper at PoP and then switching rooms the following morning to all-star movies... I know I know... this is crazy... do you think this would work? And what's the easiest way to do this?

Yesterday I log into MDE and find that I have the option to customize our Magic Bands. I was surprised because we are 69 days out from our trip. Now if I could only make fastpass+ reservations it would be all good. :thumbsup2

I don't think we will be doing online check in, as I am travelling with a group of 8 Disabled folks .I have to call Special Needs to ensure we are all on the same floor !! But as a TA handles all the arrangements would she be the only one who could check on our Magic Bands ???
