MagicBand testing

Again, nothing is on the bands themselves. Everything is linked to your MDE account, which the band can access. Any band linked to you will be able to access that information. For example, if you have reservations at two different resorts your band will open your room at both of them since they are each linked to your account.

Right now they are sending one set of bands per reservation, but eventually you will not get a new band if you already have one. So...yes, Disney is expecting guests to keep their bands and use them over several years.


Allegedly. We started at AKL and the bands did not work on first try, back to the front desk. Then moved over to BLT were told they would not work by one CM, would work by another CM and never did get them to work. Definitely still some tinkering issues.

Also my DS never had access on his band to the room, only the adults.
 
WL & VWL are included in testing for reservations with check-in dates beginning 10/14 through 10/31. There is no word yet as to when MyMagic+ (MagicBands & FP+) will be enabled for November check-ins.

That figures, we check in on the 13th.
 
I got my invitation this past Monday (September 16th) for our BWV stay on October 12th - 20th. Very excited!! :cool1: I have all my dining and F&W Festival events registered on the MDE site. I linked our annual passes and Halloween tickets to MDE so hopefully everything will go smoothly. :)

I picked a few Fast Pass items but not for everyday. I am looking forward to seeing how it all works out.

I got an email and the overnighted letter. Thought that odd. We were already going to be staying at BCV for 2 days, so I wonder if it is for those staying more than 2 days as we did not get the letter til our 3rd night came through on the waitlist.


Nope we have been book since 11 months out for our full 14 day trip. Never got a notice.

I never got an invite but, following advice on DIS, logged in and saw the bags on the website waiting to be customized.

I linked our AP vouchers by scanning them into the MDE app and booked all our FP+.

Most exciting though the MB's arrived in the mail today!!

Best advice ever - don't wait for an invite, just login and see if you have the option to customize your bands.


That is the best advice IMO or I'd have never known we were included in the bands! Waiting for them to arrive now.
 
I just got my bands today. I never got a letter or notice to customize them, I just noticed it on MDE.

I was surprised they sent a letter 2nd day after they had already sent me an email.

Sounds like us. We got our Magic Bands yesterday by overnight delivery UPS and today we got the invitation letter again by UPS telling us we were invited and just now I got an email from DVC.....Hope they get better at alerting us. I would've have known if it wasn't for the disboards and by checking my MDE account prior to being told to.
 
I just got a email reminding me to customize if I wish. Never mind the fact I have had my bands for two weeks now.

Yet again Disney gets to far out in front with technology before it is well tested and it doesn't work.

I could not link my season passes with the magic band. Also, could not schedule any fast passes.

Tried numerous times and even call the help number. They could not fix it either. "Something funny" with my reservation was the only thing they could say, blamed it on DVC.

Odd. We are DVC with PAPs and have had no issues with linking anything for our trip (room, FPs, ADRs). So maybe it is something screwy with you account?

Same for us...no issues whatsoever. I actually think Disney is doing a great job with this project. Is it perfect? No. But it is still in the testing phase and glitches are to be expected. This is a huge project from Disney's perspective.

OhioDVC, try scanning in your passes. You will need a smartphone to do it. I had no problem linking my AP voucher this way.

No problems here either with PAPs and FP. The only glitch was the room key.

I am surprised they are not working further to resolve this.

It took some futzing but our DVC reservation did eventually get "fixed" so it properly link into MDE. Rather then look at our MDE accounts and try to find the reservation, they actually started on the reservation and then put it on the accounts- if that makes any sense.

But agreed- Disney's IT people all stink. If they worked for any other fortuner 500 compay they'd all be fired. Anyplace else would have been 10 steps more refined before beta testing this on end users. It seems to have gotten better the base few months but it clearly started out as alpha quality and only now is approaching beta. And it seems they might just go live for resort guests in november.

On the flipside- they really can't take the time to do the job right becasue with the people involved they'd never have the job right enough to be done.

They need to hire some real IT people from major companies that mix their backend systems with user web systems. Just poach some people from amazon, a bank, ups/fedex, an airline, or any one of the million places that have ecommerce. Hec even dinky "great wolf lodge" has had RFID wristbands for years and years that unlock your door, let you purchase to your room, etc, etc. The Disney IT people really are pathetic and cost disney tons and tons of money.

I'm with you, I can't add my annual pass either. It says it's an invalid number when I try to link it. I know this isn't due to my DVC reservation, because my husband will be activating a new pass next month and I had no problem linking his voucher to my MDE account. I still think it's because I have my original annual pass affiliated with my account, then had to hand that over to them in May and they gave me the new green exchange PAP at the Odyessy Building. Like you, I've called and pretty much they told me it was a glitch, but can't/won't help. First they told me none of the green exchange PAPs could link, but I found that not to be true because some folks here on the boards have linked theirs, plus my friends who picked up their exchange green PAPs the same time we did, had no problem linking their to their MDE account. I may try calling again. If I could at least get someone to look at my account I would feel better, but no one will. I at least could make FP+ selections for my husband and hope to be copied to his upon checkin, but that remains to be seen. (at least that was the only "fix" they gave me)

So when we got the MB option, the only thing you could see on our accounts were the PAPs.

Linking your pass/tickets to MDE has nothing to do with your room reservation. Tickets/passes are linked to individual profiles in MDE. You don't even have to have a room reservation linked to MDE in order to link tickets/passes. Who ever tried to blame your DVC reservation doesn't know how to fix your issue and didn't want to escalate it.

We received our bands at our door on Thursday morning and the letter came in the mail to us on Saturday...too funny. :confused3

Thanks for the tips. I think I tried to link my PAP before I was selected for the MB testing. I did go back after reading your post and deactivated my older cards, and then tried again, but nothing changed....figured it was worth a try. I am just hoping I don't have to spend alot of time at the front desk or guest relations trying to fix this issue. That is why I'm trying to fix it before my vacation begins.
