Magical Southern Caribbean ~ 9/20/14

what is the FE?

Hi Chris and Shawn,
I've volunteered to organize the FE so I thought I would jump in and tell you a little about it. FE=Fish Extender. When you cruise with Disney, they have a fish symbol beside every stateroom. Disney uses it to deliver future cruise notes, invitations, etc. . . People started organizing a gift exchange and use the Fish Extender as part of it. Many people buy/make a pocket holder of some sort and hang it from their fish. One year, I used a Christmas Sock though, lol.

If you sign up for a FE group, you are part of a group that gives/receives gifts of all sorts. If there are 20 cabins in your group, you will make/buy/put together 19 gifts to give to the other 19 cabins in your group. You should also receive 19 gifts from the other cabins.

Each cruise/group organizes how they want to do it. Some make it 1 gift per stateroom, others give to every person in the cabin. Some state you must deliver your gift on XYZ date, others state you can deliver anytime. I'm collecting every cabin that wants to participate and then you will receive the cabin numbers and people who are part of your group, so you know where to deliver your gifts.

Any type of gift is allowed, you are only limited by your creativity. In the past, we've given/received: Candy, ship kits, photo albums, photo frames, music cds, something specific to the giver's geographic location (I gave out mini kangaroo magnets when I lived in Australia one cruise). It's up to the giver as to what they want to give. I plan to collect info on any allergies so that people know not to give certain things. Like if I had a peanut allergy, people would probably not want to give me nuts :)

Hope that helps. If you have any specific questions, please ask.

Cabin 6562

Let us know if you need more information

You have been added to our FE list, thank you!

I held off posting to this thread because I wasn't certain we were actually going to take the cruise (and lurking is a hard habit to break), but we've bought our plane tickets to PR, so here we go!

2 adults (April, Walt) / 1 child (Max, 6)
California (outside SF)
FE - Yes!

We have another major trip planned next month, but after we get back I can really get started with the cruise planning!

You've been put on the FE list, thank you!

Hi Jckygirl, I've added your name to the FE list. Do you know which cabin you will be hanging the FE from? Thank you!

Seems like it's going to be a huge FE this time. Will be curious to know how many rooms are participating.

We will definitely cap the groups to a certain number of cabins in each group, that way it doesn't get too overwhelming.

Hi All,

We'll be on this cruise as well. We're doing it B2B with the Transatlantic so we'll wave as we come into Puerto Rico.

We did the first S. Caribbean back in 2006 and have been waiting for DCL to go back.

Hiya Bob and Dale

We are doing the WBTA too and staying on the ship for this cruise. This will be our second transatlantic but our first B2B and looking forward to it.

I believe there are quite a few of us staying on board after crossing the atlantic and it would be interesting to do a count.

Anybody else out there??? Make yourselves known please!

Have a great week and looking forward to what DCL will announce this week for the rest of the 2015 cruises.

Welcome. I am Joanne traveling with DH Roger. This will be our first Southern Caribbean!! I am excited to see the new stops.

I really wish that they'd post the port adventures for this cruise. It has to be getting close to that time, no? :confused3:confused3

Hi everyone,

We just started a FE facebook group also. This is not to take the place of the regular facebook group that is already going. We just thought we would like to chatter about our FE exchange and not miss any info.

If you don't do facebook, we will still post info on this thread also, as the FE process happens so please don't think we are excluding anyone.

To speed the process along, you can PM a request for the link.

Cruise on. . .

Cruise on. . .

I booked this cruise as a dummy booking many eons ago. I have been on the fence about actually cruising on this sailing (w kids missing some school and all).

But I am leaning more and more towards going (so much so, that I have begun inquiring about 'parts' needed to complete my FE gift - those that I have sailed with kinda know what I am talking about... those those haven't stay tuned)

So I have PMd you to join the FE FB group

Val & I have canceled our reservation for this cruise. We decided to do an ABD trip that conflicts with these dates. Hope everybody has a great time!

I wish they would too. I've checked a few times recently.

Still no Port Adventures posted. I just paid in full today and supposedly can start booking on 5/23 since I'm Platinum. I'd really like a chance to look at them before that time rolls around.
