Magical Southern Caribbean ~ 9/20/14

I too have not been able to find the FB page even with the name posted. If a link could be posted would really appreciate it. Also what is the name of the terminal that the ship will leave from? I have the names of the two hotels that DCL is offering for the pre/post stays: Caribe Hilton San Juan and the San Juan Marriott & Stellaris Casino. What I am still trying to find out is the shuttle to and from the resorts to the port and on the last day of the cruise (Sept 27 will DCL have transfers from the port to the airport?

thanks

Yes they will offer it. You can call and order the shuttle if the option is not available online.

I could be wrong but I don't think the link will work anymore for the fb group. It was recently changed to a secret group, due to another Disney group having problems with someone joining a group and harassing another member. I will see if I can pm the admin for fb and have her contact both of you directly. I think she has to add you on fb now, in order for you to access the group.

FE = Fish Extenders. It's like a gift exchange. You hang some sort of pocket extender on your fish and join the group who is doing this. The group decides how big to make it (like splitting a group of 100 people into 20s or something), gives everyone the names of whose in their group (and state numbers) and you bring enough gifts for your group to distribute. Say there is 20. You bring 20 gifts of your choosing and distribute them to your list of names sometime during the cruise. You also should receive 20 gifts back (well actually you will get 19 and you will receive 19 because you dont' give a gift to yourself ;) ) sometime during the cruise.

I've only participated once and it is fun. Someone mentioned organizing it on facebook but I haven't seen if it's a for sure yet or not. If not, I can volunteer myself to organize so we can start planning.

That sounds fun I wouldn't mind being apart of that. Also I would also like to join the FB group if possible.

That would be awesome if you'd be able to start that up...I'd love to start planning gifts...shift work doesn't always allow the time to come up with stuff last minute!! We have a total of 4 cabins in our group...all of which would love to join FE! Can't wait to be able to sign up and start planning!! I know it's a big job!! Thanks so much for volunteering!!

:confused3HUH quoting my own quote:blush: Sorry

It seems that they are doing that link just as General Info and to incorporate all the cruises out of San Juan. But it still gives a lot of info to 1st timers out of San Juan.

Apologies for the mix up.:sail::sail:

So, interesting. Due to the nature of the super secret FB group, I guess the only way for me to get information is here on the DIS. I'm fine with that as long as I'm not missing out on some coordination. If the FB admin is on here maybe they'll see my plea and add me.

I am not sure how much the FB Admin is here on DIS but.......I will try to help.

unfortunately due to some trolling on other Disney related groups, the group added some security measures.....anyone who wants to join feel free to msg me with your email address to me via private message here on the DIS (if you are under 10 posts it won't work....sing to us if you need to....there used to be a thread for doing such but not sure where it is anymore) I will invite you to FB page but Admin will have to approve so it won't be instantaneous :thumbsup2s Hope that helps. The added security was in no way meant to keep cruise members out but to protect those that are there. :goodvibes

I try to bounce between the DIS group and the FB group. Not a whole lot has been talked about yet concerning the FE. A few have mentioned that they are interested in forming a FE and some have already mentioned that they are not interested. I have a feeling that it will probably be a little while before anything is really organized but I'll try to post here with updates.
Hope everyone is doing well considering all the snow and cold weather that is hanging around!:goodvibes

TiszBear, I don't think you got an answer to your port question. Here is the Port address:Port of San Juan
Paseo Concepcion de Garcia
Pier (Muelle) #4
Old San Juan, Puerto Rico
There are two areas where cruises come in to San Juan. This one is in the Old San Juan section. The closest hotel is the Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel and Casino on Brumbaugh Street. Hopes this helps.:):)

I have run the FEs on a couple other Disney cruises. I have not formally volunteered to start an FE list just yet for this cruise as I am 50/50 about taking this sailing (since my kids on in middle and high school, we are debating about the missed school time).

I think by around Easter I will commit one way or another. If so, and if an FE coordinator has not started compiling a list, then I will kick it off.

(I was hoping not to run the FE this time around as I was thinking about requesting an stateroom upgrade for the first time when we arrive in San Juan... and the FE master should have a white board on his/her door about late room changes of FE participants - so the FE master should not be the one moving!).

You could always elect a "Second in Command" :) Just an idea if it comes to that.

As a rule I never, ever do this. However given our cruise doesn't leave San Juan until 9:30 PM with a suggested latest flight arrival by DCL of 6:30pm we are considering flying to MCO a couple days before instead, enjoying the food and wine festival and then taking the first flight to SJ that morning. There are still 2 flights after that from MCO to SJ that get there before that 6:30 cut off. Or at least I assume there will be based on SW's scheduling. Our dates won't be out on SW until April.

Would you risk it? The one night hotel rates are horrible (in my opinion), the friday flights for us are horrible from the west coast so the better option is to go to SJ direct on a red eye on Weds night and that means 2 nights in SJ.

Which my husband really really doesn't want to do. While I'm not sure why...he has zero interest in SJ itself. I do have 2 nights reserved in SJ if we do go that route but he really really doesn't want to.

One small flaw in your plan...F&W probably won't start until after we sail.

Ah well there is that possibility isn't there. My original angle had been for after, not realizing DH really wants as little time in SJ as possible. And of course when I flipped it around mentally, I didn't double check F&W dates. Which, while not official you are correct, not likely till the 26th. After will/would still probably work but doesn't help with the what to do before or how best to do it.
