I hope this is the right forum for this question.....

We last visited WDW in 2001 and purchased this pin that lit up at parades, fantasmic, etc. Does anyone know if this pin still works? Do they still sell them? I will change the battery and bring it along for our trip next month if it will still light up.

Thanks,

Joanne

I would like to know too.

I fear they may be no more. I looked during our Thanksgiving trip and couldn't find one. I think I would have seen them -- maybe they worked unreliably? I was going to get one this trip!

We really liked those pins during our 2001 New Year's trip--never did buy one though.

I just bought one during my Christmas week trip, so they are still available. I forgot to use it though, so I don't know if it still works, but if they sell them I imagine they still work.

We just bought some of the older ones and they still work in some areas although I haven't had one work at a parade. They also have new ones out that are different designs. hth

Great! Thanks for your replies! I'll bring the pin!

I too saw them for sale on trip last month, so assume they still operate. I think they also acted sort of like a beta test for the interactive Pal Mickey, JMO. I have one and it is fun. A tip, take batteries out at night (needs a little Phillips screwdriver) as they will wear out fast if left in always, since they are working whenever in the pin. Enjoy.

We were there last month and saw the pins. The tip about batteries are important. We went through a couple of replacements and the batteries are not cheap. My DD's who were 3 and 5 at the time did NOT like the pins. They are heavy and caused thier shirts to droop if you know what I mean.

We bought 2 pins when we went in 10/01 and they worked fine. We took out the batteries when we got home. Upon our return in 10/02 we put in fresh batteries. Only one of the pins still worked, but it only worked for about a day. Fresh batteries did not help. They are really neat when they work so we "had" to buy a new one for DS. I was very disappointed in the pins because they don't seem to be made to be used for more that one trip.

If a pin is inoperative (defective), just bring it back, they will give you a new one.

Do you think they will let you return a pin that is 2 years old? That would be great if they did!

Yes, if it is defective, sure (exchange, not return). I just exchanged a GOH badge for a new one, the clip on the back was coming lose. I had it for probably 2 years. Just walked in th the 5 & 10, talked to a CM, she said, 'sure, go get another'. :)

Thanks for the info, Dan! I just put new batteries in my pin to see if it still worked and it does! I immediately took the batteries out to maintain their freshness.

It's nice to know that I can exchange it if it doesn't work well with the new batteries.

I'm sorry that I confused the word return with exchange. I wouldn't expect to return it and get my money back and I wouldn't want to because I love this pin!

Thanks again,

Joanne

I'll certainly try to exchange ours when we return. I guess I just assumed that without a receipt we were out of luck. Thanks for the suggestion.
