Well, we have agreed on the plans, just have to wait for the flights to be released. Our question is, has anyone booked a holiday through Disney UK, and flown direct from New York to Orlando (we have 5 days there before WDW). We would like to know if we can take full advantage of the magical express (airport to room) from JFK (delta airlines)

As long as you are staying on property in a Disney hotel you can make use of the Magical Express.

I am not entirely clear what you're asking. If it's whether you can still use Magical Express in Orlando, if you are flying in from New York rather than UK then the answer is 'yes'. As the previous poster advised, Magical Express is available (and free) to anybody staying at a WDW hotel.

We normally fly direct from Gatwick to Orlando and use the Magical Express, but when your coming from the UK, you have to check in your luggage and collect again (not getting the full benefits of the Magical Express). The question really is, when we fly from JFK, to Orlando (staying at the Saratoga Springs), will we get the full benefits of the ME (Luggage dropped off to your room from the airport)?

Sorry about the confusion

Andy

The answer to that is no, because you do not get the tags sent to you from the UK. However, you can give them the luggage check stickers (at the DME check-in desk) and ask them to collect your luggage for you and transfer it to the room.

So the only advantage of ME is the ride to and from the airport/resort. But you then have to take your luggage off the ME from the front of the resort to your room. Thats good to know as I had thought they delivered your luggage to your room once it was on the ME.

If you have special tags, they'll take your baggage off the carousel at the Airport and deliver it to your room, but often much later in the evening from a UK flight, when you'd probably need it before 11pm.

If you arrive on MDE and your resort has a Bell Hop available, they'll happily help you to your room.

UK folks don't get the yellow tags. They must give their luggage claim tickets to the folks at the DME desk at MCO. then their luggage will be claimed and delivered to their room.

Sorry to be dim but can I check this with the experts?

We're flying MAN- ATL- MCO with Virgin / Delta.

Am I correct to assume that we have two options:
1) handover our luggage claim tickets to DME and wait for the cases to be delivered at an unspecified future time; or
2) collect our cases from the flight and take them on DME ourselves?

How often are the DME from MCO? Is it a timetable? I know we need to give Disney our flight times / numbers so do they plan determined on numbers to each resort etc?

Thanks all :-)

Yep those are your two options. DME doesn't run on a schedule per say. When you check in at the DME desk you are sent down specific lines for your resort where you wait until there is a bus available. You are then likely to be on a bus with guests staying at other Disney resorts. I think they ask for flight details so they are able to estimate how many passengers they will have coming down at particular times and how they will organise the buses/knowing how many buses they need in a particular hour.

I've had times when I've only waited 10 minutes between checking in and leaving the airport. This last trip it was 40 so you can't really tell how long you may be waiting. Personally I would just take your luggage with you. I'm usually fine as soon as I land but by the time I'm heading for dinner at 8.30pm on arrival day I'm ready for bed and regretting my decision. I like the comfort of knowing as soon as I get back I can snuggle up and go to sleep rather than waiting for my bags. I'm also yet to have my bags be in my room when on a split stay even if they were checked with luggage services at 7am, I've checked in to my new hotel during the day and not returned to my room till after park closing.

Basically take your bags with you.
