Hi all,

Im just going through my adrs and I have noticed I have nothing booked for the day that we leave. Our flight leaves Orlando at 7.35pm with VA so Im guessing Magical express will leave probably around 4ish??? I have no idea how long to set aside etc or approx how long before a flight does it take you to the airport? Also pardon my ignorance but I have seen people mention that when flying with VA they check in at DTD....how does this work?? :confused3:confused3

I was thinking that if we had time(....based on the timings you guys might indicate or help me with) I was thinking of booking an adr for around 12pm at either kona cafe for lunch or grand Floridian cafe for lunch? From the two of those which would you prefer?

Sorry for all the questions but I really do appreciate your expertise as last time I was in WDW was 2008 and would you believe I didnt even book one restaurant before I went and was just lucky to get one and only one walk up at the plaza and I was there for 2 weeks:lmao:!! Im determined that this time will be different :goodvibes:goodvibes

If your flight leaves at 7:35 your DME pick up time will be 3:35. International travelers have to be picked upi 4 hours before their flight.

When planning an ADR make sure to allow 1 1/2 hours to get from the place you are dinning- back to your resort.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply! Maybe an adr might not be the best unless its a very early breakfast one!! which sounds great now but on manic departure day may not be a good idea!!

Tbh we would want to maximise the park time we have so going to an ADR would just loose previous hours.
Though if you wanted to breakfast would be your best option as you might know getting seated on time for an ADR might not happen so that eats time as well.

You are so right, I will probably be up that morning wanting to say goodbye to the castle......!! Im just on planning mega overload mode at the moment lol someone tell me to calm down lol :rotfl2::rotfl2:

We always have a lunch ADR in MK. LTT or Plaza are our usual ones about 1pm however we don't leave till at least 4pm.

I wouldn't bother with DTD check in if using ME as you are just wasting time! Use online check in and just take the cases to the airport with you. Bell services will look after your stuff from check out till you go to the airport.

Hope Bee86 doesn't mind me asking a question, but I was just wondering if you are using DTD check in do you have to get a taxi from your resort so you can get your luggage there? Thanks

I havent ever done the DTD check in but I would imagine, if you are staying onsite you just hop on a bus with your bags. Sorry I cant answer this better!

you aren't supposed to hop on the bus but I have seen it done..personally I would take a taxi mainly because the check in area is around by Cirque D soleil and the bus doesn't go there in the mornings, it only drops off at the market place so you would have to drag your cases all the way round..the taxi fare isn't much at all and its worth it just tobe dropped off right outside the check in.:)

It's so easy to go planning mad I try not to but once we hit 180 days out and it's time to book the ADRS that's it I'm off. DH though this year said he is going to do the planning as he knows how much effort I put into everything so this time he wants to do it.

I'm kind of glad because it means I've taught him well :lmao:

You need to be at the platform for your Magical Express bus back to the airport 15 minutes before the time on your confirmation. It would be a good idea to shoot to be back at your resort an hour before that. You never know what kind of unexpected delay you might run into.

Also worth considering, if your last activity is a meal, have it at the airport inside the secured areas. Makes departure day less manic.
