I've read several different things on this board talking about tags. I've read about yellow tags with mickey's head and other tags that are holographic. What is the difference? I booked through best rate and was trying to figure out if I would get this folder of things I've heard about...
I did get a blue *folder* type thing with a checklist for my December vacation- but it was addressed to my mother, who isn't even going on the trip! Is this the folder people are always talking about?

And also.. I'm going to be bringing a laptop with me and I KNOW to carry it on and ask them to place it in the safe once we get to POP...but if we have more carry on luggage can we give it to them to place in our room later, too?

Thx in advance! :dog: :earboy2:

The holographic tags are just plain old luggage tags that you can leave on your luggage forever and have nothing to do with DME; you fill in your personal information as you see fit. DME tags are sticky paper (the same type of paper the airlines use to tag your bags each time you fly, only the DME tags are yellow and skinnier) and are pre-printed with all the necessary identifying information. After your luggage arrives in your room, you should rip off and throw away the DME tags just like you should rip off and throw away the airline tags (the tags that have the 3-letter airport code, etc.).

Your TA will receive your DME materials. It is a Disney's Magical Express booklet and is not mailed with other Disney stuff (it comes from a printer in New York). Disney generally aims to have guests receive their DME stiff around 21 days prior to arrival.

Your carry-ons will not "magically appear" in your room like your checked luggage will. You can bring your carry-ons to your resort's Bell Services and they can store them for you. DME does not involve carry-ons in any way (except that when you ride the DME bus you have the option of having the driver load your carry-ons into the bus cargo hold, or you may be "forced" to do so if a bag is too big to fit under your seat or on the overhead shelf).

Hope this helps. HOPE YOU ENJOY!

I was my own TA! I work for Expedia so I think it's a lot easier if you just book things yourself than going through a middle man...

I also have a question about DME, if my plane lands at 5:30, do yall think we will enough time to hit epot world showcase see the fireworks ang get a bit to eat???

Good question!

Let's just say if your flight arrives on-time and you have a decent DME experience you may be at your resort by 6:45, but could be 7 or 7:15. Then you have to check in, which is never really FAST, so let's say between that and getting to your room and so on will be 30 minutes. You're now at maybe 7:15 to 7:45. Then maybe an average of 30 minutes (???) to get to Epcot from whatever resort you're at (including wait time for the bus, etc.), and maybe you're at the Epcot main gate at 7:45 to 8:15. Then maybe a good 10 minute walk to World Showcase (???), so you're now at 8:00 to 8:30 (rounding off). I guess you'd get there earlier if you walk or take a boat to the International Gateway if you're at one of those resorts.

I guess the time of IllumiNations depends on the time of year you're going.

Also realize that the above timeline assumes a pretty good experience with everything. If your flight is delayed, if DME causes a delay, if there's a long line for checking in, if the Disney Transport bus is a long time coming, and so on, all these things could affect your time.

GOOD LUCK!
