Hi all,
I haven't decided yet if I want to let Magical Express get my luggage or get it myself. If I put the yellow tag on, but then decide to get it myself before taking the ME bus, will I have time to grab it? How quickly do the Magical Express people grab the luggage that has the yellow ME tags on them? Would they just not grab it if you never checked in with them first?
Thanks!!

If you put the yellow tags on the bags will be pulled before bags are put on the conveyor belt. You will not be able to get them yourself.

I assumed that all yellow-tagged bags had some kind of system where they are diverted to the DME transport trucks and never go to the pickup carousels.

I would decide before checking your luggage at the airport.
But my advice is to take a small carry on with bathing suits and 3 oz of sunscreen and let Disney worry about the luggage. You'll be in the resort quicker, will not have to lug bags around and will not have to loiter around the baggage carousel while you wished you could just be on the bus and on your way.
You'll be happy when you are sitting by the pool enjoying a cocktail and then return to your room to find your bags have been brought up for you!

If you put the yellow tags on them, you have ZERO chance of getting to your bags. They are pulled and not put on the conveyor belt at all

Our experts her can help you with solid information.:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Thanks! I always wondered how that worked, I pictured them going to the conveyer belt but guess that seems a little ridiculous lol I guess I'd better decide beforehand then if I want to get them myself...I appreciate all of your help!!

Being from the UK we don't get the yellow tags but we still have the option to get them picked up.

We however have always collected our bags we just like to be able to get to our room and unpack and chill out.

There are normally not that many people who do this so it never takes long to get our bags off the bus.

I do agree with packing a change of clothes etc in your carry on. I am always worried that my bag won't make it to orlando.

yeah---I usually just go with the flow but Im going on a Disney cruise 2 days after we land---so I want to eliminate any possible factors that could cause us to not get our luggage! ol

You stand a much greater chance of the airline misdirecting your checked bags than DME.
But, if you are going to feel better, then by all means, leave off the yellow tags and get the bags yourself. You can then bring them to the bus with you. But remember, the driver will be expecting to be tipped for stowin, and then unstowing, your bags.

It is always wise to pack a carryon bag with neccesities for the start of the trip. Just in case the airlines do misdirect a bag or two. Another reason to never put each person's 'stuff' in one bag. Spread everyone's stuff into all the bags...that way, if one bag gets sent to Santa Fe and you're heading to Orlando, you will all have some of your stuff!!!

It also depends on what time you are arriving at MCO. If I remember correctly 10pm is the last arrival that gets DME bag service. In my experience if you are even remotely close to the 10pm or even slightly after you NEED to make sure that someone at the airport in baggage services KNOWS to get your bags because they will get segregated as DME bags but someone inevitably forgets that it is past 10pm and they never make their way on to the conveyor at baggage claim...had that happen twice - now I make sure someone knows to get the bags from the backroom and put them out.

Because you are supposed to go to the carousels if you arrive after 10 PM, file a baggage claim with the airline there before leaving if your bags don't show up for you.

ok question... I AM RENTING A CAR but can disney magical express take my luggage to the resort for me? I'M SIGNED UP FOR MAGIC EXPRESS WITH RESERVATION YET WON'T ACTUALLY BE TAKING THE BUS JUST WANT LUGGAGE TO BE TAKEN CARE OF... :confused3
