Magical Express Frustration

We have now received four sets of luggage tags from Magical Express, and all of them have been incorrect! They either have the first hotel we booked before changing to the current one, or they have the wrong arrival date, or the wrong names... I'm at a loss!! Has anyone had this trouble with them before?

We changed hotels last time and they told me not to worry--they scan and it tells them which hotel. I just wrote the correct resort name with a sharpie.

Wow you must have changed hotels pretty late in the game for this to happen.

I changed my hotel months before and the tags were still wrong.

Actually, Disney changed the hotel because they asked me to move due to construction
.

I changed hotels months ago...!

Sorry this happened. Call (asap) & ask them to send replacement tags, if possible. Also, make sure you get return DME info the night before departure in your resort room. I had made DME changes (also months prior) & they lost our return trip info. The resort also had the wrong (prior) credit card on file (I'd changed it online long ago due to the Target data breach, but the resort only had the original # I booked with). So, yes, Disney IT has some issues.

Make sure the correct resort is entered in your tags. You can use a sharpie. Then call DME and make sure that you are entered correctly into their system. The band has your info, but I like to make sure all is okay before we go.

We did that in 2014. Switched from Pop to POFQ months and months in advance, and still got the DME tags with Pop Century on them. My TA told me to just cross out the resort and put the correct one on them, but we were still a little worried that if they scanned them, Pop would still come up. So she contacted DME and had new ones with the correct resort shipped to us just in time before we left for the trip. When my parents switched from BC to POFQ that same trip, they had to get new tags.. when they got to DME, they scanned their bands and Beach Club still showed up, so my Mom had to show them their reservation documents that they were booked at POFQ. Last year I booked WL initially and switched to POR, but luckily I received the correct DME tags.

Draw one line through any incorrect or outdated information on the yellow tag when writing in the correct up to date resort name, etc. But do not mark through the bar code.

If you don't get the Magical Express return to the airport confirmation sheet on the morning of the day before the day you check out, or if the information is incorrect then go to the front desk to have that corrected that morning before heading to the parks.

I've changed hotels early on and gotten tags with the wrong resort listed. You can do as suggested above by just writing in the correct resort. They'll scan it to verify. Or you can update your DME info through the web site and depending on how long before you leave, you MAY receive another set and it MAY have the correct information on it.

We had similar issue but with our flight info. Our flight #'s and times changed due to United. We called to update months ago and still received confirmation of our old flights. We just called the telephone # to update and were all set...

How soon before your trip did your luggage tags arrive?
We are 21 days out and have not received our tags yet.

Renting a car this time! Waited too long before with 4 busses sitting there ... it's a nice ride once on the bus though!

The bar code should have your correct resort information encoded. Call DME directly and have them confirm the resort information. Get a sharpie and cross out the printed information on your band and write in the correct resort (as insurance). Everything is done via the bar code, so don't touch the bar code.

If you will be disappointed at the possibility of having to wait, don't use DME. Rent a car or get a car service. You're using a shared shuttle service when you use DME. It will not be fast and you will be stopping at several resorts besides yours. If you're lucky your resort might be the first one, but it probably won't be.

I've had this happen. I think they ended up screwing up the names for two of us (there were 5 total). Even with the call to correct they ended up sending the wrong thing. It got worked out in the end but it was a sloppy process.

Ours arrived three days before we were due to leave for our recent trip... but we weren't worried because we do carry on, so we don't need to use them. If I was you, I'd definitely call Magical Express and make sure they have you properly in their system. One year, before we switched to carry on, ME actually had to Fex Ex our tags to us the day before. AND they had our names misspelled! (Fortunately, the luggage got to the right rooms anyway.)

If you reserved DME over the phone, your tags should arrive any day now before your trip. I've found that reserving DME online tends to be quicker for receiving the tags, so you could try completing that form too. I've gotten my tags about week after completing the form, even though I was months away from trip.

I've had them Fed Ex the tags to me when signing up online, even though I wasn't going to use them because I wasn't checking anything.

One would 'think' the bar code is correct when scanned! But....I changed from Pop to POR about a month prior to travel. I confirmed with the cm I spoke to that as long as my reservation number stays the same, the bags will go to POR yep, absolutely.
Well....my dd and I arrived at MCO in a rental car. Had to land in Tampa and spend a day with family, so no need for tags on our bags. But, dd's friend was flying in, with her tagged checked bag. Met her in the DME area, went to get on a bus. They scanned my MBs, and pointed to the Pop line. No, we're at POR! He looked again and said his screen showed Pop. So, had to go talk to another cm. They also said Pop was showing. I had my POR paperwork, so showed them. They couldn't figure out what was going on. Long story short...took them 20 mins to get it 'figured out in their system'. Then they said it was a good thing we had no checked luggage!! Oh, but we did! They said they would bite it in their records. That was at 5:45. Got to POR, dd and I got settled, then the three of us headed to the CR to watch the fireworks from ToTW. We got back to the room around 10:45. No bag. Called Luggage Assistance. Nope, hadn't arrived yet. Called again at midnight....nothing. Finally, at 1:30ish, a knock on the door, there was the bag. It had been sitting there, at Pop, all that time!! Nice job noting your files!!
