One would 'think' the bar code is correct when scanned! But....I changed from Pop to POR about a month prior to travel. I confirmed with the cm I spoke to that as long as my reservation number stays the same, the bags will go to POR yep, absolutely.
Well....my dd and I arrived at MCO in a rental car. Had to land in Tampa and spend a day with family, so no need for tags on our bags. But, dd's friend was flying in, with her tagged checked bag. Met her in the DME area, went to get on a bus. They scanned my MBs, and pointed to the Pop line. No, we're at POR! He looked again and said his screen showed Pop. So, had to go talk to another cm. They also said Pop was showing. I had my POR paperwork, so showed them. They couldn't figure out what was going on. Long story short...took them 20 mins to get it 'figured out in their system'. Then they said it was a good thing we had no checked luggage!! Oh, but we did! They said they would bite it in their records. That was at 5:45. Got to POR, dd and I got settled, then the three of us headed to the CR to watch the fireworks from ToTW. We got back to the room around 10:45. No bag. Called Luggage Assistance. Nope, hadn't arrived yet. Called again at midnight....nothing. Finally, at 1:30ish, a knock on the door, there was the bag. It had been sitting there, at Pop, all that time!! Nice job noting your files!!
I am so scared of this happening!! I too was told to just "cross out the wrong resort" but that seems so unreliable to me....
