Magical Beginnings eligibility for direct purchase?***

I've been talking with a DVC guide about a direct purchase at AKL, where they currently have an incentive sale. I asked if the Magical Beginnings credit of $10 per point could be applied to the current UY points to reduce the final purchase price, and he said only direct purchases of the two current properties being sold (Aulani & Riviera) qualify for that program.

Has anyone been able to negotiate an exception where they were able to sell their UY points back to Disney (@ $10 pp or whatever the rate was at that time) for a direct purchase of a resort other than the current featured sale property?

My motto is that it never hurts to ask (politely). If I'm still told no would asking to speak with a higher sales manager have a likely chance of success?

The difference is that Disney is the developer at Riviera and Aulani and therefore can offer Magical Beginnings whereas AKL is acquired by Disney from the resale market and magical beginnings just wouldn't be financially worth their time or cost. You could ask to speak with a higher manager about it, can't hurt but Disney are usually firm on these situations. AUL and RVA have been approved for the offer (no other resorts included) and the chance of success would be low at AKL I'd imagine.

Rent your points out with one of the DVC rental sites or here on the boards instead of selling them back to Disney and you can make more than $10.

Agree. Some sites give up to $16 a point. I’m doing that on a resale I’m buying to help offset the purchase price.

Bearing in mind you would still pay the annual dues, you are far better off renting the points out.

You would easily get $16pp

Generally, Disney doesn't negotiate. The price is the price, and the incentives are the incentives.

As others have mentioned, the $10pp is not a very good deal at all, so you wouldn't be missing out on much.
