I just bought this MB offer and cashed in my 1st yrs points. Could I still borrow from my "05" pot?

Yes, but once you borrow them to '04 you can't change your mind and try to put them back.

let me see if I got this right...if I borrow lets say 50 points from my 2005 for a trip in July 2004 but change my mind 2 weeks after making the reservation....That 50 points does not go back to my 2005 pot and I have to use that 50 points now in 2004.

Is that right?

Does anyone really borrow? Is it a good idea? I'm afraid if I start, I may never get out of "debt" and will always be behind.

With only 150 points and needing 2 bedroom for the foreseeable future, I am and will probably stay in a borrowing mode for awhile.

Our trip home this summer, a 2 bedroom for 5 nights at BCV, will use all 150 plus 50 from my 2005 points. (Sunday-Friday stays)

If we do the same thing next year and I assume we will, I'll have 100 left from 2005 points & have to borrow 100 from 2006 points.

The following year, the same trip would use all of the remaining 50 points from 2006 & require borrowing all 150 points from 2007

At that point, could borrow all 150 from 2008 for a June 2007 trip, but would have to go to OKW due to lower points and that's fine.

Actually, I hope to have added on by then or can take a non-DVC vacation, maybe the Disney Crusie with cash.

That's not bad for having just 150 points. Sounds like good plan.

Worst case, if we can't get a ressie at BCV, BWV, or VWL (200 points each), we can always go to SSR instead for 20 points less.

At least I will never have to worry about Banking deadlines either.

Thanks,
Rex

Yes you have it right - points borrowed or banked cannot be returned to their original use year and must be used in the use year they are moved to or will expire

Yes, we borrow and bank - excessive borrowing combined with the desire to visit more often does lead to addonitis
