Magic Kingdom Was SLAMMED Today!(July 11)

my neighbors have been using disney for their daytime pokemon hunting saying it's a great place to get a lot really fast and someone spotted something rare... might sound stupid but did it look like a lot of people paying lots of attention to their phones?

I use Touring Plans, but ultimately, we got to the park that fits our schedule and makes the most sense for us. We always go during the busy seasons, so 1 point here or there makes very little difference. If it's busy, I don't really care. With Touring Plans, I am usually a step ahead of the masses. Plus, we usually do RD and preferably AM EMH.

Not an answer to your question, but I wouldn't be surprised! This pokemon go thing is crazy, lol. I heard the same thing about Disneyland with groups in DTD standing around with their phones for a pokemon meet or something like that lol. Yesterday my 14 year old niece was talking about it, never would have expected that from her, lol.

Same! There's something magical about the castle being the first thing we see. It'll be my 3 year old and 5 year old's first time. Oh well. The rest of the week, we followed the crowd calendars. ;)

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Save the best for last. Or at least not first. That's true in general, and going against the crowds is yet another advantage. The kids will be awed just as much if not more.

There's an entire post on this board about it so yeah.
But with MDE I'm not sure it's a big jump in folks staring at their phones. They did that before Pokemon Go started

With the new FP system and being able to book your own FP's on the phone it really doesnt matter how crowded it is. We booked one FP after the other on our MK day which was listed as a 10 on the crowd calendar. We were thrilled to be able to do that. If the FP we wanted wasnt available we just kept refreshing the search and then one would pop up. I felt sorry for all the people standing in an hour or hour an half standby line. I was thinking they cannot know about FP or they wouldnt be waiting in the long lines.

Ha. I was just telling my hubby that some friends of ours are at Disney today and they made the number one mistake of going to MK on a Monday. pays to read the disboards and get josh's advice!!

Is Monday the new no no day at MK? I always thought it was Saturday.

I think it depends on the time of year. I am avoiding MK during a holiday trip because I expect the locals to show up for holiday atmosphere on a Saturday in December. In July, however, I think more locals are avoiding the heat because they can go another time.
And as a previous poster mentioned, a lot of families who are travelling on the weekend want to see MK as their first stop - on a Monday.

Generally, you can get a lot of very decent rides as 4th+ FP+ at MK; however, there are some you usually can't, like 7DMT. Splash seems a little hard to get too.

We were at the parks June 30-July 10. We were shocked how empty it was --including resorts. We come every summer.

It's always been both on most lists I've seen. Unless it's a super busy time where you almost have to pick one no matter what

@EPCOT and Hollywood Studios for the last three days and they were dead. Magic Kingdom is always slammed. They are the only park with more than a handful of attractions.

We have went on a Saturday and Tuesday the past two years. Once in the middle of August and once at the end of June and MK was less crowded on the Saturdays.

Plus everyone likes the new Fantasyland and it has been improved so much. HS has really lost their appeal for us -- they've taken away all the attractions we liked and not improved the ones left that we did like.

In the past all the crowd charts always shows Saturday at MK to be the day to avoid. I remember one Saturday in 2012 we went to MK on a Saturday and had to leave after an hour -- it was shoulder to shoulder in some areas! Funny how things shift.
