Why in the world is it cheaper to buy by the glass than the bottle?!

It isn't.... Not sure where you're seeing that!

Crystal Palace is based off a French location.... so it's French right?
The Crystal Palace is based off of a English location, that's why Winnie the Pooh characters are there.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Crystal_Palace

and last I checked, this http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?restaurant.id=112 wasn't anyone's idea of fine dining.

:rotfl2: I'm going to forever more call it "Le Crystal Palace" but I'm going to say it with a french accent for good measure.

I'd rather see alcohol allowed than smoking.

Don't say that or before you know it there will be cigarette girls peddling smokes! About 10 bucks a pack should do it!

Ok, so I'm a total lush when I'm at WDW (and whenever I'm on vacation in general), and I'm still disappointed with this development. Not surprised, mind, just disappointed. I also see this as likely a test case that, if successful, will eventually lead to a profusion of available alcohol that will ruin the feel of childlike innocence that is a HUGE part of the charm of MK for me. I know it's just one meal at one restaurant right now, but do you really trust current management to keep it to just one restaurant, or even just TS restaurants?

Thats is about the wrose thing they could do Walt is looking down pretty sad today.........I will be complaining and I expect most Disney fan will be as well!

AKK

This Disney fan won't be, I see no problem with it at all.

Anytime alcohol and MK are mentioned in the same breath, someone always trots out this old hack and it is SOOOO infuriating!!. And it is not even slightly relevant. Club 33 is a private club. It is not open to the park. Joe Schmo from Idaho can't just waltz in and order a brew. The public areas of Disneyland are dry.

And the reason I'm not happy about today's announcement is that I am quite sure that this is simply the thin edge of the wedge. Soon all of the TS restaurants will offer booze. Then the CS restaurants. Finally we'll see carts near some of the attractions.

And then....what? The world will end? :confused3:confused3

As I sit here drinking my glass of wine, color me disappointed as well. There are so few alcohol-free places in this world (aside from certain countries!). Even though our kids are aware of alcohol, it was always nice to know that the Magic Kingdom was alcohol-free. I predict that it won't take long for more restaurants in MK to add booze to their menu.

And not because "the world will end," but having recently moved from a neighborhood with loads of bars, it was just nice to know that at MK there was absolutely no chance of running into someone who is intoxicated. I know it wouldn't be a completely common occurrence it was just nice to know there was one untouched haven. And as for "just" beer & wine, it's just as easy to get drunk by thinking it's not as potent.

I'm disappointed. I really dislike going around the countries at EPCOT and all I can smell is alcohol. I HATE having my kids around drunkards! Or them having to witness that and me praying for it. Alcohol is the only drug in the U.S. that is legal & it kills innocent people.

I have been around WS many times and I have never smelled alcohol nor have a seen drunkards.

I do not. This is indicative of current management strategies. They are changing WDW, some for the better and some for the worst. I see it as another step further down the path of declining standards. As someone who has observed public drunkeness to the extreme in Epcot, the day I see that in the MK is probably the last day I go there.

I have the feeling this is more about catering to the desires of International guests, that expect alcohol to be available with meals. In that TDC has expressed their intention to concentrate their marketing to guests outside the US, it would make sense. I seem to recall there was some debate about whether or not to serve alcohol in the MK in "EuroDisney" now Disneyland Paris, when it was being built. Obviously, they bowed to the almighty dollar.

This exactly! I have been to Epcot MANY time, including during Food and Wine, and I have never seen a drunkard or smelled booze. Ever. With that said, I go on vacation to enjoy my family, not watch others and pass judgement.

No, I do not and that is my issue with this. Do you want to visit the MK, or some other theme park, because change is good but I think in time there will be alcohol sold everywhere with some over indulging. In the MK.

Personally, I'm in the camp where most days I think I need a drink to deal with the rude people at MK. I know I can hop on the monorail and quickly get a drink, but it would be nice to not have to leave the park.

And I'm not trying to be rude, but I've drank around the world a few times at Epcot. Most of the drinks are around $10, so it's not a cheap date to get plastered. And, I don't personally think I have a high tolerance, but I didn't even feel tipsy by the 5th drink. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but I've never seen anyone drunk, though my mom got a bit red faced drinking one Grand Marnier slushie from France (but she doesn't drink at all.)

Having a glass or two of wine at dinner wouldn't make me drunk, but I might be able to sell bf on BOG because they serve hoegaarden, which is his favorite beer.

I definitely agree with this part of your statement. Well put!:thumbsup2
