Magic Kingdom- 24 hr - When will this be released? Thoughts?

Last year this 24 hour day at Magic Kingdom was the sat of memorial day weekend. I will be going this weekend and hoping that they have this again and trying to make plans. Anyone have any idea on when this was announced last year?

Last year they announced the event on February 28, but there haven't been as many rumors about it this year. I remember a thread from a few days asking about the event as well, but no one in that thread had any ideas about when it would be announced either. I'm wondering if the announcement has been delayed this year because DLR is getting ready for it's 60th anniversary and it's not clear whether there will be a 24-hour day (or not) at DLR. In the past DLR and WDW have had the 24-hour day on the same day, so perhaps WDW has to wait to see if DLR decides to participate or not.

My guess (and that's all it is) is that since the 60th anniversary celebration doesn't kick off until May 22, the crowds will be heavy enough that weekend that DL won't do a 24-hour event. Not sure where that leaves WDW, though.

I was really hoping to know something soon either way!! I appreciate the info- as I thought is was around this time it came out. I guess I will continue to plan with or without this 24 hr day

Excellent point Missyrose! I forgot about the 60th Anniversary at DL. That does potentially throw a fly in the jelly Let's hope they work something out, perhaps in conjunction with the DL Anniversary. Folks really love that 24hour deal We did it in 2013 and while we didn't stay all 24 we did take advantage of the early open and rode our favorites multiple times until the crowds ascended.
