Last year I went on a cruise with my dad. Holland America out of NYC. Same thing...we hit really bad weather the first full day out at sea. The ship had to close the pool because the seas were so rough and they had those little white bags everywhere. Once you hit the calm blue seas of the Carribbean, it's perfect. So just plan to bring something if you have never cruised or if you think you might get seasick. Better to bring your own non-drowsy formula or a patch prescribed by your doctor because you don't want to sleep your cruise away.
I'm going to pop in here about sailing out of NYC and sea sickness. My family (DH, DD, DS, my parents, and I) have been blessed with very strong stomachs. We have never been seasick or car sick at all. My son-in-law not so lucky. We dragged him on his first cruise a couple of years back and made the mistake of sailing out of NYC on NCL. It is not as smooth as sailing out of Port Canaveral. The waves were huge and it was so rough that even the crew members were turning green. There was a huge line at the front desk for people who were not prepared. My poor son-in-law took something they gave him and he slept for 36 hours. AND has completely sworn off any and all cruises. I can't convince him that you don't get seasick on Disney Cruises.

It will be very interesting to find out how they plan to transport that many people to WDW. I recall reading another thread where some people are already planning on just taking a car service instead of dealing with Disney buses.
Don't be scared. As I keep telling my son-in-law. It's a DISNEY Cruise. No one EVER gets seasick.
Honestly. If you are prepared and take something, you should be fine. As far as dressing up. My husband and grown son just wore a regular suit and tie for dinner (and for pictures.) As soon as dinner was over, they changed back to "regular" vacation clothing. Some men just wore dress pants, shirts and ties. It's fun to dress up one night. It's "tradiation". And look at what a nice family picture you'll end up with...

Nothing wrong with planning early. My October cruise, they were on their thread chatting and planning in September of 2009. I only booked that cruise in in February of 2010 so I had a "late" start compared to everyone else.
Let's just say that after all the snow we had, I NEEDED a cruise in the worst possible way...and the earliest available booking using DVC points was October!
I'll start the Fish Extender group and keep track of other DISers who check in on this thread. I'm new to all of this so I'm just going to borrow heavily from how Maureen aka Octoberbride03 is doing our October FE.
Maureen has two lists going.
List One is to keep track as everyone checks in here. She's including your DISName, names of the cruisers, Ages of the children, Category, Stateroom, Which seating you are in, Pre-Cruise Hotel, what you are celebrating and your email.
List Two is for the FE. This one has your DISName, Names and ages of Cruises (just say adult if you are over 21), Stateroom #, and food allergies.
So just email or private message me if you are checking in and if you want to do the FE let me know that as well and I'll start our list.

. That is on the agenda again.The cabana was worth it for us. I would say that if you plan on doing a lot of excursions and not being in the cabana don't spend the money. We just spent our time on the beach with our two kids and inside relaxing. It was worth it for us because we've never spent the whole day at Castaway Cay before. We'd always done just a few hours and then went back for the ship to nap. Instead, I got to nap on my hammock
I will be for the FE if it is small (even 10 and 10). My DH was supportive if it is small. He hated the suitcase being loaded down with all my FE stuff last time.
