Magic Goes Texan! Eight Crazy Nights (3/1/2013 Bahamas)

I was going over fe list on first page and the numbers I am getting are very different. I am getting 25 cabins total including ours and I am aware there have been some changes but want to make sure I am not overlooking a couple of cabins.
Thanks,
Sonia

Why do people bring cases of water? Are there not places to refill our reusable water bottles or does the water not taste good?

We are flying in from San Francsico and arrive the morning of departure, so I don't think it would be cost effective to bring a case on the plan or to find a place to buy a case prior to boarding... But I will if you experts say it is necessary!!!!

Was there ever a FE group 2 established? We are interested but where can I read more about what's involved. Form what I can tell it is essentially a secret-santa-like exchange of trinkets. Is that a fair assessment?

Have anyone tried the lunchtime dining at this new restaurant? We had the Cinderella castle character brunch reserved but cancelled it because our friends said it probably wasn't necessary due to all the character interactions the cruise.
It wasn't really an optimal time anyway but we wanted to eat at the new Be Our Guest restaurant, but there are no dinner reservations available and lunch is self serve.

Is it crazy to even try to get in there at lunch? Any recommended strategy? Is it worth it?

Thanks! Only 3 more posts!!!

We're wondering if it is recommended or possible to do 2 parks in one day at WDW. Our DD (3) loves princesses so the Magic Kingdom is a must, but we don't think she will want to do all there rides there.

She is not a fan of the story theme rides that get dark inside, like the Little Mermaid, or Winnie the Pooh. She prefers the action rides like roller coasters, the astro orbiter, etc.

What other park would be recommended?

I have tasked the hubby with designing a family magnet for our door an was wondering what materials, supply and/or method do you recommend???

I made it!!! 10 posts!

My questions/posts were sincere so if anyone wants to respond and help this first timer get her sea legs, it would be most appreciated!

Thank you all :cool1:

They will have water on the boat but people tend to like bottled water better and don't want to pay the outrages cost on the boat, although I have not been on DCL before other cruises will have a place for water and I am sure they will as well. As for us we will bring a small case of water for taking meds and on the islands. Having it in our room instead of searching for some saves money and time.

It is possible to do 2 parks if your not visiting every attraction there. Not sure about roller coasters for a 3 year old but if she likes action rides Epcot has 2 that would be perfect Soaring and Test Track. Hollywood Studios is our favorite for thrill rides but again not sure if it is suitable for a toddler and the height restriction if there is any . Look them up on youtube to get a better idea of the rides there to figure out if she would like them.
Hope that helps,
Sonia

Can I ask what area you do Dobie rescue in? We love Dobes also and have a Dobe that is a service dog. There is a trainer in our area that trains rescued Dobes for service.
Elaine

We are located in DFW, but we take in dobies statewide... currently trying to secure foster care for NINE urgents, two are pregnant :(

Hi, and WELCOME! We are also on Deck 7, so we'll be keeping an eye out for the "tricked out" doors. :-)

Funny about dining reservations...I had a horrible time booking anything. :( I had originally decided that we'd just play it by ear as far as dining on park day. But I woke up in a cold sweat at 3am today, thinking how cranky and miserable my family will be if they don't have one sit-down meal during the long park day. We are starting at Hollywood Studios, then hopping to MK. I spent an hour on the phone with a reservation agent today, and it was slim pickings. I managed to get a 1:40 at Hollywood Brown Derby and a 5:40 at Liberty Tree Tavern (it's an either/or, we won't do both) but they were kind of last-ditch choices. Maybe I should have just looked online!

We loved Liberty Tree Tavern the time we ate there; I have noticed the menu has changed, so it may not be so good now, but when it was the more Thanksgiving menu it was one of our favs! (and a shocker that we liked it so much - I don't typically love thanksgiving food!)

Does anyone know if there is a forum or recommended way of finding people that may want to share a cabana to reduce their costs?

I don't know of a forum specific to this topic. Your best bet would be to post a message here in this thread and on our FB page. Do you already have a cabana reserved?

You did not ask for opinions on cabanas, but I am going to share my experience, because I wish someone had told me. I am normally all about a pool or beach cabana. I like some privacy and especially service, and I don't mind paying for it. After having shelled out for one on our first visit to CC, I think they are absolutely not worth the money. The beach area is so big now, to accommodate a ship twice the size of the Magic, that there is no trouble finding a perfect shady area, a hammock, or some quiet. There are many more "regular" crew members than concierge, so it's easier to get a drink on the family beach than in a cabana. I could go on, but I'm not trying to be a total Debbie Downer if you have your heart set on it. You will probably find someone to share with you without any trouble, but if you are used to cabana service at 5-star locations, be prepared for a very different experience. :-(

Is there really a formal night? I think the semi-formal night was confirmed but will my hubby really need a full suit? Do the women actually wear gowns or just dresses?

I think I need to go shopping!!!

Yes, there is a formal night and a semi-formal night. My husband wears a suit to both, some men wear a tux to formal. Some men wear Dockers and a blazer. I usually wear a cocktail dress but not a full gown. It's fun!
