Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) **** PART III ****

Message for ColKath2005....

Hi Collete, could you give me some advice re: UK winter weather? In a week or so from now I'm headed on a whirlwind trip to Salisbury, Coventry and London. Weather reports say it is average 5 degrees celcius during the day at that time of year but am wondering what "kinds" of cold it is in South central/south west regions of England...I'm from Canada so 5 degrees can be really cold if there is a north wind or really mild if not. Should I be wearing a full winter coat or would a fall leather jacket suffice? I plan to be doing a lot of walking outdoors and I'm only bringing carry on luggage so don't want to over pack but don't want to freeze either. Thank you!

It is wet cold. I would pack to deal with the rain. It can be mild and sunny but still cold or windy and feel colder. It varies day to day but lately we have had so much rain and villages in the south have flooded. We are in the south west (Bristol) and we wear our jackets most days now. Hope this helps, if you need anything else answered feel free to ask.

Oh goodness, where was this info in your docs? I do not want to prepay our servers.

It is on Page 13 of our booklet. It says Thank you for choosing to pay your gratuities before your cruise.
You will receive a receipt on the last night of your voyage that you can give to each staff member to share your appreciation with them.

Miatamel, that usually means it is already included in the price of your cruise so you don't have to pay extra at the end. I would celebrate. :yay::yay:

Some discount rates have prepaid tips attached to them. They want to make sure you don't stiff the crew. Such as interline rates or cm rates.

If you didn't book at a discount rate, I would check with whomever you booked with. Hope this helps.

Thank you! Winter coat, rain poncho and umbrella are coming with me!

I can't believe we are on Part III already! I am having a hard time keeping up!!! I have been staring at my BIG bag of FE gifts and wondering where I can fit them in my luggage.

I was looking at my docs last night and I couldn't find what our rotation and times are for meals. Where do we look? I also noticed that we are prepaying our servers, I didn't realize we had signed up for that, has anyone else done this?

Your dinning time should already be set as Main(6pm I think) or Second(8:15pm I think). I don't remember that being any where in the cruise docs but it should be on your originial reservation. You will not find out your rotation until you check-in and it will be printed on your KTTW card.

If your gratuities are pre-paid then that means either it was included in your cruise booking or you chose to pre-pay them. You can still add money to the tip if you feel it is deserved but I don't like pre-paying just in case service is below par.(Doesn't usually happen to us but you never know.)

FE gifts are all purchased and ready to go:banana: I have absolutely no idea how they will fit in our luggage but we will tackle that project in a couple of weeks.

Can't wait to start giving them out! :cool1:

On most DCL bookings the gratuity is not included. You always have this option if you chose to pre-pay them but it is not required. I would say that unless you requested this or were told it was included in the price of your cruise then your gratuities have not been pre-paid.

We do not pre-pay our gratuities. I don't think I have ever given below the recommended amount but I always like to have that option just in case service is below par.

Thought this might help everyone deliver their FE gifts. Just look for the lime green Mickey heads ;)

good for you, I haven't even decided what to give! Got lots of ideas, but no decisions yet. Plus I have some sewing to do....shopping to do. But I have almost a whole month to go!:yay::yay::yay::yay:

For those of you who have stayed at a WDW resort how far is Downtown Disney from the Magic Kingdom? We are staying at the Contemporary and I thought we could walk to Downtown Disney one evening.

go to see the layout of WDW on Google.com. Good maps there.

FE is complete... same one we used before... but with Vika's name added to it

:

what a cute Christmas FE! I am using the same one I used for the Baltic, the Med and the WBTA. Just changing the cruise logo at the top! I guess I could add some
Christmas ornaments to it. just for fun. Gotta get started on Christmas Themed magnets for my door! :santa::santa::santa::santa:

okay...I must be in a dream. I just checked the Disney site to see if there are any rooms left on our cruise. The cruise is not showing up but a 7 night cruise leaving on Dec 23rd is on the Magic to the Western Carribbean is.

Is it just me seeing this?

well! I just don't see how they could be on the Magic when we are already on the Magic! very tricky!:santa:

Have any of you done the 5k run on CC? Does it happen with every cruise? Do participants get a pin or anything when you cross the finish line?

It sounds like a fun way to start the day. :tiptoe:

I ran/walked the 5K on our last cruise. We met right off the ship and the staff explained the route. He ran with us as well. It was muggy and hot expecially out on the runway. Later on that night there was a certificate and a DCL waterbottle at the cabin.

Hope everyone is having a great Pre-Thanksgiving Week-End! :cheer2: We finally finalized what we are doing for the FE! It took a lot of brain storming because we wanted it to be a little unique! Bad part is we cannot start it until Dec 14th and we leave on the 16th so its going to a busy few days but well worth it!

Does anyone know if there is a deadline for ordering the baskets from Shirley? Things have been busy so I haven't had an opportunity to call and place the order. I am going to call this week though so hopefully its not too late! Also has anyone ever ordered the Celebration Cake that they have waiting in the stateroom? My husband was thinking about this for my birthday but I told him that I am pretty sure they can do a cake during our dinner seating that night. I wasn't trying to persuade him not to do it :rolleyes1 but wondered about the size and quality versus the one they do in the dining room for special occasions?

LeiLani : I hope your trip down here went smoothly!!!! Its so exciting that we are going to meet someone else going on the cruise! :yay: I think our official cruise countdown is going to start on Thanksgiving. Heck who I am I kidding....we have been counting down since we booked! :woohoo:
