Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

Lunch group almost at 6. !

MMI - i don't minf (too much) the cooking and cleaning. I always say - 11 days with no LAUNDRY!! And yes, we send it out. One cruise I tried to do it in the laundry rooms. I met the nicest funnest group of moms in the laundry room - but, you kind of had to wait around to get the machines. They had actually brought pitchers of drinks down to the room and were having a great party. I waited about an hour to get a machine - and finally I said, "The heck with this. I won't go to the spa and just send out our stuff." They all clapped for me as I left - as I said - it was QUITE the party. Anyway - I blew my extras budget on sending out the laundry!

I was thinking it would be nice if there was an ice breaker type questionairre to get to know each other. I am willing to start one - but please improve on it if you want.

I am 48, my DH is 48, my DS is 14, my DD 11.
I was born in Wash. D.C, grew up in LA, I live in Minnesota.
We own DVC.
I am not packed yet.
We are not a formal dress up family.
I love trashy reality shows, politics, reading and swimming.
My favorite part of the Disney cruise is being out on the water and going places.
My DH and I both went thru engineering school and law school - I am a SAHM
I wish so much I could travel to Europe - too expensive.
Best trip was taking tha Magic thru the Panama Canal.
I am Irish Catholic descent.

I just found the icebreaker:

Here are the answers for us:
Chuck is 59, Connie is 58, Patrick is 33, Michael is 31
We are originally from Sterling Illinois, but we live in Orlando FL now.
We are DVC members.
Packing? That will happen on or around the 17th! Our suitcases are still out from our cruise in September!
I like police dramas (NCIS, etc) a few sitcoms (Big Bank Theory)
We "dress up" for formal night, pirate night, the Villain's Ball. I do make my husband wear long pants to dinner!
We love to cruise!.
We have taken the Magic through the Panama Canal and done 2 Med. cruises and 2 transAtlantic cruises.

Christie, unfortunately we hardly ever get to come down. Between football, basketball, baseball, and competitive gymnastics, oh, and working, it's hard to find a free weekend. We made it down once last summer between baseball seasons (school and rec league). My parents come up here and we go to Lake Martin. We can get back to practice or a game from there.

Have y'all tried BoonDocks, up toward the airport? We love to eat there, their shrimp is great! I grew up going to the beach for the summer, we were out on Laguna Beach, now my parents are in Santa Monica Beach.

How old are your kids?

Camie

Alyssa and I put up our tree and Christmas decorations this weekend. We cut back a little but there are certain things we had to put up. Not that I really needed it, but it put me in the Disney mood and increased the excitment for the cruise.

All of the ornaments on the tree are Disney and my two villages are all Disney themed. I have houses for: Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip & Dale, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet. I also have: Cinderella's Castle, Casey's Store, the Fire Station, and the Train Station. My living room is now full of Disney stuff!:goodvibes

I can't wait for this cruise!

you would fit right in with our family!

I should have been more specific, count me for 2, I'll bring DH or my mom

Didn't realize the laundry was going to be that difficult, Wow! I have been known to set the alarm for early A.M. to start/stop loads of laundry when we were at AKL. I guess I could do that again.

You are from Minnesota? My kids' school uses the Minnesota "M" on their hats as their emblem.

I
I grew up in central Florida and am sort of a beach bum and dig surfing, fishing, camping, etc.

I will pack for the cruise on the night before.
I bring a little flask poolside for spiking my DOTD to get it just right.
pirate:

Yup, you REALLY sound like Central Florida folks! I think we have a lot in common, except the surfing, fishing and camping!

Can't wait to meet everyone on the ship!

I have read on the Forum that DCL no longer provides bandanas on Pirate night. I can't confirm this, maybe someone that has been on a recent cruise can confirm/deny this. I still have mine from '08, so I was surprised to read that they no longer give them out at dinner.:confused3

We were on the WBTA in Sept. They were still giving out the red half'bandanas that they've had the last few years.

I had so many blackandwhite ones and red ones that I made myself a pirate vest and skirt from them. I believe in recycling!

I know they still had them on Aug 7th Med cruise (Magic)....if it changed, it has been since then. We probably have enough stockpiled to provide them for 1/2 the cruise by now......maybe we should add them to the overstuffed suitcases? :rotfl::rotfl2:

Or, DH suggested I keep them all and fashion a dress out of them???? If only I knew how to sew..... :rolleyes1

Penny

I made a vest and skirt from mine

Our best DCL cruises were the Panama Canal cruise in May 2008 and the Northern European Cruise this past July 2010.
See Ya Real Soon.

We probably know each other, we were on the May 200 Panama Canal cruise and the Northern European Cruise, too!

Looking forward to seeing you again!

I can't wait to ride the bus - I've never seen a bus with porthole windows before! :goodvibes

What time do they normally pick up at in the morning? Would we have time to eat breakfast at one of the hotels?

They pick up from POFQ about 11:30 or 12 so you'll have time to have breakfast, and then brunch on the ship! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

ugh! I just got a PM from Connie (cquick)...they got left off of the fish list. I never got their PM and totally missed their post on the board :sad2: am feeling absolutely sick about it! Please add them to your list (cquick cabin# 6654)- I am updating the listing online right after posting this. Not sure if there are kids in the cabin but I will let you know once I hear back.
If you are short on time, money or materials please reassign my cabin's gift to them. So very sorry everyone and sorry to Connie :guilty: for missing that

Please don't worry about adding more FE gifts onto what you have. We are fine with or without! Really! And please don't feel bad about it! Connie

:laughing::laughing::laughing:Can you tell I was reading all those back pages of the thread? I was answering everyone! I almost had the whole thread to myself! :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

How old is your brother in law? Our son, Mike, who is in his last year of law school at Duke is 31 and he's coming with us. Connie

Connie, he is 39, I think. He and my husband are both active duty with the National Guard, but BIL is stationed in TX.
